Additional Issues

Recommended Posts

So we all know the usual errors with this game at the minute
 - pads with permanent traction (with assists off) VS wheel, and wheels with better high-speed-corner steering VS pads
 - AI first lap too slow, AI does not want to overtake, AI way too quick in the wet, AI fully upgraded at start of career, AI tyrewear VS player tyrewear
 - Gap between Expert and Legend too big
 - Williams car WAY too slow, etc etc etc...

But I just wanted to see if we could highlight any other issues which are detracting from the experience that should quite frankly be amazing (I mean, that's why we all play it, right!?)
Without trying to include things that "should have been there" like bringing back the "live the life" interviews, paddocks, classic mode, FP1 + FP2, team orders favouring 1st driver if you are 2nd driver, etc.

A few spring to mind from my perspective  (and forgive me if they have been mentioned in previous threads - I've not had a chance to read the entirety of each thread, just going by "common occurrence"!):
 - I can hardly hear a thing the bloody race engineer is telling me, and when I CAN hear him, sometimes it's baffling  (he has even told me to go on Inters when making a pitstop in a fully dry race)
 - Track limits : On some of these tracks, nearly half of the lap's corners can be cut without a penalty!
 - No tier alternations at the end of a career season?
 - Online hackers - I'm sure I've come across a few already, I really really hope the 1/1 11/11 setup glitches have disappeared
 - Scenario mode needs some real incentives, not just a medal. I was expecting them to be harder this season and maybe with a bit more reward (e.g. new unlockables, like helmets, a one-time "choice" of track when racing in a quick online race, etc)
 - Is Nico Rosberg's Merc quicker than Hamilton's? - I can't prove this or anything, but it just seems to me that AI Nico is a lot better than AI Lewis, and I struggle more with keeping AI Nico behind me than I do with AI Lewis

Sorry if it's all been mentioned elsewhere

Tiers should be altered slightly and there needs to be a balance between pad and wheel.
First lap AI pace, although a problem, is not going to be a simple patch fix.

Player tyre wear vs AI tyre wear I very strongly disagree with however. It is the best it's ever been where the way you drive the car and the setup actually affects the way they wear. This absolutely does NOT need changing. The only thing that needs changing in this aspect is the way the individual player drives the car!

Sorry Anonymous848, didn't mean to p*ss you off. I've only just started posting today.

I don't know if it's a "glitch", or a "hack", but it's fundamentally incorrect to just set the car up to 1/1's and 11/11's and have it outperform all other cars on other setups (this was definitely the case with some of the previous F1's - I don't know if it is the case with F1 14). All I'm trying to say is, -IF- this still exists, then it needs to be removed and made realistic, whether it's a "glitch" or a "hack."

Have I explained myself to you now?

Daniel Ricciardo AI Pace Final Stint of Malaysia GP Option Tyres, Career Mode, no battles except for last lap, might have been held up by Vettel until overtaking him around Lap 50, and he was stuck behind me on Lap 56:

I honestly don't know if those numbers are supposed to be normal (in real life or in F1 games in general), but they don't slow down throughout their stints

I hope Didd31 is right and Codies dealt with the issue a long time ago! :)

I've only managed a handful of online races in F1 2014 so far (quick matches), has anyone encountered any drivers using "hacks/cheats" or being "abnormally/impossibly fast."  I still see the "jumpers" (the guys who approach a corner, drive full pace straight off the track to maintain their speed, and then reset back onto the exit of the corner as if they haven't lost any pace, thus eliminating the actual braking phase of the corner!), has anyone else seen any?

Any number of factors could play a part. This season the tyres aren't as wear heavy as they have been in recent years. It's very possible for drivers to keep going quicker into the stint with the fuel being burned off each lap (each lap of fuel accounts to about 0.2 seconds of lap time in real life).
In your example Ricciardo might well have turned the fuel up to rich which would explain the increase in pace to try and catch you in the last laps. Rosberg could have been switching between any of the different fuel mixes. It looks like he slows down at the end of the stint. Possibly to save fuel.
A lap chart of one of the races this season would be useful in comparing the lap times but there's definitely been times this season where drivers have been quicker at the end of the stint than they were at the start.
It's better this year as the player can match the AI on this which wasn't possible in 2013.

Do a 25% race at Red Bull Ring. The Williams pit twice to everyone elses once, and they pit if the race is wet whereas everyone else doesnt.

Agree with you on that track and Williams cars in the wet there.

Please take a look at my original post in this thread I started back on day 1 of the official game release: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/4108/most-of-the-ai-cars-staying-on-dry-tyres-in-the-wet#latest

This issue needs fixing!
