F1 2018 – The Headline Edition

Recommended Posts

Hi all! You can also find this posted on our blog here as well.

We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. Today, we’ve released a brand new trailer for F1® 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, that reveals two stunning classic F1 cars that will feature in the new game*. You can take a look at our brand new trailer here, or you can head to our YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evw0Q8UtM2g These really need no introduction, but our brand new trailer showcases the championship winning 2009 Brawn BGP-001, as driven by F1 World Champion Jenson Button and his team mate, Rubens Barrichello, and the 2003 Williams FW25, of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher. Both of these iconic cars are included in the ‘Headline Edition’ of F1 2018, which is available for pre-order now (links are at the bottom of the page), and will be available as DLC at a later date after launch – and, yes, we will be revealing more classic cars in the coming weeks! Brawn completed an incredible double World Championship in its only season as a team, securing both the 2009 drivers’ and constructors’ titles. The car won eight races that season including six wins for Jenson Button in the first seven races of the year. Button went on to win the Drivers’ World Championship ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Last year, after each of the F1 2017 classic car reveals, we couldn’t help but notice a theme in our comments:

We knew that the 2009 Brawn BGP-001 was something you all wanted to see, and the inclusion of both that and the 2003 Williams FW25 is something all of us here at Codemasters are excited about revealing to you all, including Franchise Director, Paul Jeal: “The inclusion of classic cars in last year’s game was a huge hit with our players and fans of the sport so we wanted to build on that with the inclusion of more classics in F1 2018,” he told us. “The Brawn is without doubt the most requested classic car by our passionate F1 community, so we are delighted to be bringing it to the game. “To win both the drivers’ and constructors’ World Championships in your only season is a phenomenal achievement and made the Brawn instantly iconic, and not only that but it looks gorgeous too,” continued Paul. “The 2003 Williams was also a fantastic car, which got better as the season went on. Juan Pablo Montoya went on to record 8 podiums in a row, so I’m sure players will relish the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this car too.”

*If you who pre-order or purchase ‘Day One’ copies of F1 2018, you’ll have exclusive access to the iconic 2009 Brawn BGP-001 and the 2003 Williams FW25, as DLC content of the ‘F1 2018 Headline Edition.’ Alternatively, the two cars will be available to be purchased together at a later date. F1 2018 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC (DVD and via Steam) worldwide on Friday 24th August 2018. We will be revealing more F1 2018 news, including more classic cars, which have been selected from community feedback – very soon. Make sure you keep it here on our blog, and follow our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all the latest F1 2018 headlines.

YES THANK YOU CODIES!!!! this was by far the biggest hole in F1 2017's range. Based on that game's time range, I only need a Beninton and then I think you have perfected that era (1989 - 2010)

Nice of you to link to a Czech website when you list it as 'Netherlands'

Edit: it's fixed now, thanks

Anyone noticing the graphic with the name of the car in the bottom left is the official one from FOM?

Nice to see that car! Looking forward to driving it in the game.
I'd like to see the next blog entry be like "...now we fix the multiplayer too…". That'd be great.

Yawn! I don't buy the game just for classic cars. If I did, F1 2017 would've been a great game but it wasn't.

Graet addition!
Since there will be enough classic cars in F1 2018, why don't you make a classic cars championship for career mode replicating F2 (and even F3 since there are two eras of classic cars). This way we can first attend classic cars championships and based on our achievement we will get offers from 2018 teams.
I believe it is not too late to implement this into the game.
All the best
Haluk

Nice additions, but you ain't baiting me with that pre-order incentive. Impressive link collection though!
Same here I'll just buy it later as DLC when I do get the game. I do like the fact they've added it though as it was Button's only championship winning car and Button has been one of my favourite drivers in more recent times as I always have support drivers from my own country so in a sense I do support Lewis as well especially as he's probably been the most successful Brit in the sport. He's not always been my favourite driver but I do like him and his never give up attitude he has even if he has some questionable tastes in off track action The Williams looks good too but again I'll get them as DLC later

That's good and all but doing a big classic car reveal before an actual trailer with features is definitely not good.

I always find it strange when game companies push for pre-orders before they've revealed much of anything about what they want people to buy. "We're not telling you what's coming, but we want you to blindly commit to buying it anyway??"

Does anyone know if the ‘Headline Edition’ with the Brawn and Williams will be available in stores for a short period (much like the ‘88 McLaren last year and the ‘Career Booster’ for F1 2016), or is it exclusively for preorders only?

I think it's available for Preorder's only but they have said the classic  cars will be made available as DLC later as well just as the McLaren was in 2017 so we will be able to buy it for a little extra later if we wish after release which is probably what I'm going to do.

I’m pretty sure last year Sennas 1988 McLaren was supposed to be the additional ‘day one’ bonus, so you could still get the car for the first month or two even if you brought it from shops and not from the preorders.  Was just the later copies of the game lacked it and was made available as dlc.
I’m assuming that’s what Codemasters will do again this year? And that the ‘Headline Edition’ will be the day one edition in stores for the first month or so?

Reread the original post from Faya and you will find your answer ? {spoiler: pre-order & day one}
