Anyone using a Thrustmaster F1 add on rim for Xbox?

Recommended Posts

As the subject states, but my real question is it appears the F1 rim has more buttons but most are just duplicates i.e. 'A' button seems to have 3 choices. I ask because I have run out of buttons to use on the TMX wheel. Having to 'share' one button to serve 2 uses gets confusing and often times is not the function I want.

I have it. I like it. The center selector and dials around it are just cosmetic.  There ARE more buttons, but as far as the xbox is concerned it's still a standard xbox controller (cleverly disguised as a f1 wheel) So you just wind up with duplicates..

You cannot make up new inputs that wouldn't be available on the controller. You need to play on PC for that.

But i DO like the wheel.  Feels better in my hand. It also has better placement of buttons.  And has little thumb wheels that make changing fuel mix much easier.

I have just bought the g920 for my 1st wheel and will start playing next year but if i get in with it then the plan is to upgrade to the thrustmaster tx and add the f1 rim to make it more f1 like

Thanks guys!  Well I was hoping I could make use of the extra buttons, but I can rearrange them and the locations are certainly better.

My rim is almost unusable after 1.5 years of heavy use as it will frequently shift down two gears at once or not at all. The rotary knobs you control with your thumbs are the best thing.
Aside from that I actually prefer driving with the regular steering wheel, much more of a natural flow for me and I'm far more consistent.
Just little differences, don't think it's worth such a big price though

I imagine the cost is reflecting the replica as a collector item for the most part. But from a use POV I agree it is pricey. I have found it for 109.00 USD, not too bad however the base is not so cheap, especially when I have a good base as is, just not able to use it on the F1 rim.

I can see where the F1 rim may be an adjustment on hard turn rotation as the buttons are much closer to the handle and may get unintentionally hit versus the TMX wheel button locations.

I know what you’re saying, that’s why I replaced all buttons and switches with new ones which are better quality.

plus I added a little switch on the back of the wheel which is my DRS button and better reachable in stead of on the front of the wheel.

Did you do that yourself?

I am getting problems with the buttons not registering (annoying when using DRS button) because of heavy use for 2 years at least.
Do you know if there is an online manual or "how to"guide for changing the buttons?

I have also modded my t300 for better cooling but it’s a work in progress ;)
