Take a Lap of Hockenheimring in F1® 2018 with Nico Hulkenberg

Recommended Posts

Hi all! You can find this on our blog here as well.

What better way to celebrate the return of the German Grand Prix™ this weekend than with Renault Sport Formula One™ Team’s Nico Hülkenberg driving a lap of Hockenheimring in F1® 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™? You can check out the video below, or head to our YouTube channel to see it there too.

https://youtu.be/lxMpupt5gLE

As the Hockenheimring is returning to the calendar this year, we thought we’d get the German driver’s thoughts on his home race, as well as get some tips on how to get the quickest lap time. We can’t wait to put these into practice!

“It is always fantastic to have the real F1 drivers spending time with the game and giving us feedback on the handling and the game as a whole,” commented Lee Mather, Game Director, F1 2018. “The drivers can provide a finer level of insight. For example they can talk to us about facets of the circuits that only they know.”

F1 2018 offers the most complete Formula 1 gaming experience to date, reflecting the real sport, both on and off the track. You can learn more about F1 2018’s pressurised press interviews and Career Mode in the first of our developer diaries here:

https://youtu.be/wHIo_GqZQPk

And that’s on top of the expansive research and development, rule changes between seasons and mid season driver moves that add even greater depth to the Career mode, which we’ll be talking about more in our coming developer diaries. As well as featuring all the official teams, the drivers and circuits of the thrilling 2018 season F1 2018 includes 20 iconic cars from the history of the sport, the most in the franchise’s history.

F1 2018 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC (DVD and via Steam) worldwide on Friday 24th August 2018 – and you can pre-order here: Make sure you keep it here for the F1 2018 news, and follow us on Twitter and Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to get the scoop first.

“Mid season driver changes” wait is this for other teams or just the player? I mean the player has had mid season moves for a while now...

Yeah this sounds very interesting. We've been able to change teams mid-season for a long time. This makes it sound like it could be the AI being able to. It would be massive for the series.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, if driver transfers were in I think they would've put a lot more emphasis on it as one of the main new career features. There'd  also be no reason to even mention 'mid-season' changes, actually it would even be weird to see AI changing teams halfway through the season right? Anyway, I also wonder why it's mentioned if it's the same thing that's been in past games.

I think Lee said you get more opportunities to switch teams mid season now. You approach other teams through your agent

I did wonder this as well. Probably an attempt to dress up something that's always been there and yeah, it's something that would hve a bigger deal made out of if it was in, so it probably isn't. I do think though that Liberty might be the ones to do it eventually.

Yeah I agree I suspect it has more to do with contract negotiations seeing as you do get to ask for certain perks and stuff in 2018 I believe. Whether the team you wish to join gives you them is another matter.

Rule changes sounds interesting however... maybe sort of like Motorsport Manager
yeah all the career mode stuff does sound interesting. Did it need it? Probably not. But they do sound like  interesting additions this and the interviews to the mode. It's not quite enough to encourage me to get it on day 1 what with issues I had with my 2017 career in that I had to ditch my first one and start again due to the patches but it is enough to convince me to get it eventually later though once the whole patching system is done.

Because they do nothing with it every year. All the upgrade stuff you can do and practice stuff you can do in career mode you should be able to do in championship mode aprt from change teams obviously and use a real life driver. Simple

Championship mode in 2017 was almost completely different to 2016. In 2017 you had sprint races, reverse grids, classic cars and so on.

That's only around a percent of Championship Mode in F1 2017. Championship mode includes all sorts of different championship seasons which are a lot of fun to race.

You don't realise the fact that Championship Mode was the best it has ever been in F1 2017.
