In Matt212's video:

The Mercedes looks black and very dark. Is this intentional?

i think final version will come "true" colour(i hope) but....from 2010 to 2017 codies f1 games have a "colour problem" especially replay cam we cant see colours clearly, instead colours are some grayish washed out and smokey i think

I can't see different styles as colour problems?

I will never understand why people use a FOV that looks like driving thur a peep hole on a door. The track becomes so stretched out that it isnt even resembling the actual track anymore.

I thought it was just me but yeah the Mercedes looks dark grey from what I have seen both on-board and on replay camera's as well. All the other cars look fine in terms of colour scheme but the Mercedes seems way off.

Apparently, AI remains aggressive beyond the checkpoint, past the limits, at 17:30, with the entire free lane to pass, and the intelligence will soon pass over where in a car parked on the shoulder, unbelievable that
AI does not give up the ideal route for the safety of cars that could well cause a new accident

Now I know why the dont show it too much in any previous videos. They definitely fucked up Mercedes livery and I hope Codemasters will improve it. Current livery looks like 2015 McLaren livery :dizzy:

Little things like this have happened before quite a few times. My fear is like with things before it won't be fixed before release. Aswell as I get a feeling it's the 2017 car model without the t-wing and sharkfin, tho I don't really have any proof of that.

Indeed, the F1 2018 "in game" Mercedes livery is way too dark and bland.

Imo F1 2016 the game had a great graphical balance in color and lighting for the Mercedes livery, looked nice and had that slight realistic touch to it of when the sun reflections were visible on the car itself.

PS: Tbh this years F1 2018 ingame Renault lacks the darkness for its black color, the Haas is a bit too dark and looks more grayish in the game even though the white should be clearly visible, the Cockpit Leg Protection Padding in the Ferrari should be red and or beige not black etc. etc. etc.

Who knows if these "aesthetical" errors will be fixed in time or at the very least at a later date as history has shown over and over again that the probability for that to happen is very low.....

I think it's most likely the game's lighting and reflections systems changing how the liveries appear rather than colors actually being 'off', I'm pretty sure they get the exact right colors to use from the F1 teams, but in-game lighting can make them come out very differently, in different weather conditions as well. But I agree sometimes they look very strange and a bit 'wrong' because of it, especially Mercedes. Hopefully they can still tweak some things to improve.

I think it's the 2017 car model, because of the jagged edges mistake in the car graphic, just above the steering wheel. I remember the 2017 Merc having this same graphical error.

What do you mean with 'jagged edges'?

EDIT: Oh my.. I think I found this 'mistake' you mention in a real life video xD

Yes, you'r  correct. I have never looked at the detailing, on that area, of the 2017 Merc before. Because I sometimes drive in the cockpit position, and I see these small vertical jagged objects, I naturally thought it was a graphical error.

The reason those pieces are on the real cars is to stop helmet lift at high speeds. Since the air works different around each car, each team has a different shape to it.

Real vs game side by side comparison:

https://imgur.com/a/okJv2wC

Of course there's differences in lighting, but the game almost looks like a 2016 Mclaren by comparison. It's very much chrome/dark reflective while the real car almost reflects white.

Pretty sure this is a bug and the Mercedes shouldn’t look like that.
Compare it to this video at 2.34 sec ... https://youtu.be/QQ6fueG92Ek, I know this is in wet weather which surely would make the car look even darker, but in fact it’s the other way round and looks a lot more lighter and closer to how the car probably should look colour/lighting-wise :)

Yes I think the whole issue might have something to do with how chrome-like and reflective the livery is in the game compared to the real car; it looks like it actually reflects the white sky in wet conditions, while it reflects a dark blue in clear conditions making it appear so dark.. Can we get any confirmation from one of the devs that this is being looked into? @Hargers maybe?

Looks like Lee says below that tweet that the game has had a lighting update since the build the vids were taken on
