Big problems with F1 2014 someone from Codies please read (easy to read all issues explained)

Recommended Posts

I'm on Xbox 360. Using the Wireless Speed Wheel/Controller I will give a list of things that need to be fixed in order of importance. A reply would be appreciated

1. In Qualifying the player is able to match AI lap times and at the start of the race also. As the tyres wear about half way down the stint the AI pull away or catchup by up to 2.5 seconds a lap. If the AI tyres wore down equally with the player the game would be 1000x better. Once I pit I can keep up with the AI again.

2. Controller users have more traction than wheels however wheel is faster because of change of direction and understeer from the controller. Please either make the traction on the wheel the same as controller (preferred) or controllers have lack of traction like the wheel.

3. Although in 2013 I believed there to be too much lockups on the front I believe 2014 lacks this a little. I like it how it is but many players want more lockups but not as aggressive as 2013.

4. When going through fast corners such as last corner at melbourne wheel users have lack of traction.

5. AI up to 2 seconds a lap to fast in the wet due to them having endless traction. In the dry the AI need the traction reduced also but pace kept the same if that makes sense. The player and AI traction needs to be the same.

6. Brazil tyre compounds changed according to 2014 compounds.

7.Force India offset T-cam is very pointed to the right so you are playing at a very strange angle. Offset t cam is fine in other teams.

8. The wireless speed wheel, a controller that's a wheel but has no RB/LB buttons. I therefore cannot change replay cameras due to there being the "paddle" logo to change the cameras. I get this logo as the speed wheel is a wheel but has no shifters. You could maybe remap the replay camera buttons for all wheels to be the d pad or another button. OR give us the option to to choose which button does replay cameras in the driving controls menu.

THESE ARE ALL THE ISSUES IVE SEEN FROM OTHER USERS AND ONES IVE HAD PERSONALLY. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO ADD XBOX 360 ISSUES PLEASE ADD HERE.

A REPLY FROM A CODIES EMPLOYEE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The AI tyre wear is fine. What's wrong is the way players are driving destroying their tyres. I can personally manage to go longer on my tyres than the pit strategy advises and keep pace with the AI. If it's possible for me to do it then anyone is able to do it if they actually try.
I fear for the patch at this rate since so many people are complaining because they can't or don't want to play the game as it's supposed to be played. I fear that we will lose the best tyre wear model that's ever been in the series.
Seriously people, stop driving like it's Need for Speed and play it like it's an F1 game. It's no wonder that people say the game is getting worse- it's because of poor feedback from people not playing the game properly and having to accommodate for those.

I agree with all other points however. Number 5 is questionable though. Again I'm able to keep with the AI in wet conditions. So again, if I can do it, so can others. But wet weather has too much grip in general. We should be up to 20 seconds slower than in dry conditions but as it is we're too close to dry pace.

Hi JupiterJoe thanks for the reply. I will look at his twitter page. Thanks for sharing.

Wynterdust. I have played F1 since 2010 and am very good at these games. No matter how smooth I am the tyres don't last ever. The AI get faster over the stint not slower. I will give an example Bahrain Lap 3 I do a 1:37.8 say in Mclaren . Button is around 1:37.8 as well. By the time I get to lap 8 my times will drop to a 1:38.6 say and the AI will get faster due to no tyre wear and fuel burning off. Say a 1:37.5. By the time I get to Lap 16 (end of stint) my times have dropped to 1:40s whilst AI do 1:37.3. Therefore they are much faster and I lose positions. HOWEVER once I do my pit stop I am back on pace with AI again. Therefore I lose around 20-30 seconds to the AI over a 100% race. Despite being easy on setup and tyres this happens everytime.

I had this issue with 2013 but codemasters being them never fixed it.

So you're dropping a second over 5 laps in a 100% race? Sounds to me like the issue is your driving and/or your setup. Tyre wear this year is brilliantly done (when compared to earlier CM games).

I think you should really take a look at how you're driving and the setup you are using.

I don't know if you're playing on pc but for 2013, there's a mod called Realistic tyre wear:

* The tyres will last about 2-3 laps longer than on default, so a little bit of caution is still required. The AI will follow pit schedules based on the real life GPs.

* Works on all race lengths and in both career and GP mode.

AI Expert or Legend need to be fixed at 3 major points  :
1- AI slow too much in first corners of a race , it is possible to win more than 10 positions in first corners of 1st lap , so the qualifying session is losing sense .

2- After being  overtaking by the AI  in most of the situations the AI slows down and break too early in the next corner , it's really stupid issue , because I can regain easily the position while he AI continue to struggling behind me.

3- Most of the times I feel the AI faster than me , but the AI is not able to overtake most of the times even with DRS. Sometimes there is a queue of AI drivers behind me , faster than me but forced to be behind me because their overtake is not good enough.

This is my opinion after playing most of the time at Expert and Legend level , of course the AI is still very good and congratulations for that , and if the overtake and first corners in 1st lap are fixed  it will be even better.

I mean no offence but if you're losing that much time because your tyres are wearing out that quickly then the problem is either your driving, your setup or both. Again, if I and others are able to make the tyres last longer whilst keeping to the same pace as the AI then it's obviously possible for anyone to do it.
What setup are you using?

What must you be doing to those poor tyres lol! From the few race runs I done around austria with different setups I found that it might help me go 1-2 laps longer in a 100% race if using a kind on the tyres setup so no offence but you must be lighting the things up to be dropping 3 sec at the end of your stint! even last years game you wouldnt loose that much pace over a stint. Hard for me to tell from austria (low wear) if the setups make a big overall difference to tyre life so just need to be smoother if killing them that much. This is coming from someone who is all over the place in carrer mode btw and even I can go longer than the enginner tells me to half the time and still lap close to my times each lap. Set the car up to how you feel you can be smoothest and that then will help save your tyre life by itself, It no good if the car will do 40 laps on one set of tyres but you yourself end up killing them as it all over the place and not doing what you want. Imo df can help the car stability this year alot so if it means you are still able to match your times on worn tyres stick max df on for few races. Might be slow over a lap but if it makes you quicker over a 20 lap stint then it is quicker overall.

I use 49-51 brakes 1-1 balance. 1-1-3-1 suspension and camber to the left and toe in the middle. That's my most commom setup. With wings it depends on the track

It probably has a lot to do with strategy. Every real F1 driver says that only in qualy they're going 100%. In the race it's all about tyre saving. That means that they drive slower than they could. 99% of gamers would never do that. that's the biggest problem. I personally don't to that either. But in 25% races with TC medium and pad my tyre wear lasts very long, so no problem.
still the game has some major issues.

Well there's your problem.

Try 8/7 wings, 4/4 balance, 3/3/5/4 suspension and leave alignment alone. Notice the difference straight away.
