F1 2018 imminent, but who will YOU drive for?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

New here and couldn’t find a similar post, so apologies if one does exist!

I’m just intrigued, with F1 2018 only 2 days away, who will you be driving for? Are you going to start from the top with Mercedes or Ferrari, are you going to start from the midfield with Haas, or will you pick a team like Williams and all their obvious struggles????

Cheers for any response ???

I am going to start out with Williams and work my way up. One of the things that I find weird though, is that Williams prefer showmanship drivers, while they are at the back of the grid. Isn't showmanship completely useless then?

Can’t choose. I like some realism so I want to go for Torro Rosso -> Red Bull or Sauber -> Ferrari but also no one seems to race Force India so that could be a starting point as well. I feel Mclaren and Renault are too far up the grid and I’m not a big fan of Haas...

I really want to “role play” a bit so to speak to give my story a bit more to it.

Nice to hear people want the challenge! I haven’t watched too many career videos as I want a full surprise on Friday, but it doesn’t make sense to me why Williams are showmanship, since like you say they’re at the back. Surely you’d just look stupid in your first season, at the back, yet showing off for it ?

I’m torn between McLaren and Williams. Maybe one then the other. Just want to bring the Brits to the top haha

I agree with the role play element, will feel more rewarding this year with the interviews to start small and climb to the top, in any way. Should make all 10 seasons interesting. I do agree McLaren are midfielders, so I may take Williams from the bottom to the top, and then do McLaren.

From the sounds of the random regulation changes it could take a few seasons to get the slower cars to the top, which is a challenge I like the sound of ?

Yeah I like the role play element as well that's the great thing about this years game and 2017 as well to an extent especially as you can pick to use both male and female avatars now. As I've been playing around with a female avatar on 17 and I could see  myself doing the same on 18 as well eventually. Although the media part of the game combined with the new rule changes will help extend that even more

I will go with Williams since that team simply deserves a lot more than that they are currently getting. I (was) a fan of Villeneuve back in the days and I can only appreciate to bring back some of that virtual glory for the team I really like!

Yeah I loved watching the Williams team back in the 90's and all that  and seeing the likes of Mansell and Hill winning their championships with them and giving Jenson Button his start in F1 as well. It's a sad thing seeing where they are now knowing all they have done for the sport and for British drivers as well. As they gave Coulthard his start in F1 as well. It's probably the main reason why I want to start with them and turn their fortunes around. Will take some doing but it'll be worth it

No idea. I want something that I haven't done before so Ferrari, Force India, McLaren are out of the question, same goes for the other 2 top teams and I don't like Haas at all. Torro Rosso would be a no brainer but do I want to do another 2-3 seasons with Honda powered car?  :D

I don't know..maybe Torro Rosso, Williams or even Renault.

Probably Toro Rosso.
I thought about Williams but i don't like the car without the red Martini stripes.

I was thinking Renault as I have been doing driving for McLaren the last 2 games but when I saw the liveries on al the cockpit cam's I seem to be ending up with McLaren again. The livery is what I'll see the most through my career so the striking Orange seduced me.

Personally I prefer it without the Martini stripes

Last year i took Sauber because they were the weakest team. This year i will take Sauber again because it‘s the best looking car in the grid for me.

Ferrari. Mainly because its the only team I have much affinity with.
When it comes to performance, I either have a great fight at the front or possibly as I did in F1 2017, I can drop myself back every race and fight back through. I also like the style of their upgrade tree (lots of straight lines).
