Cockpit Settings

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have setting for Cockpit. I'm in the Torro Rosso and can't see the mirrors and can't get the right camera settings. Thankyou

Yeah, unfortunately this is going to really annoy me, as a cockpit cam user.

Please, Codies, give us an option for a virtual mirror/HUD mirror.

I know it might sound petty, but otherwise it kills the immersion when I have to press a button to look behind me.

Please help!

Yeah the game really needs a virtual mirror. I've given up on finding camera angles that show the mirrors, instead I've gone the opposite route and moved the FOV down and the camera even more forward for a more realistic driving experience. Just sucks having to rely on the proximity arrows for close racing, instead of actually seeing the cars in your mirrors when they're alongside half the time.

If you want to up the immersion you could try replacing the button function of looking back to looking either left or right, thus looking in the mirror. I'm not sure it's the best solution but you can try it out?

You need to turn up the FOV to max and move the horizontal plane as far as you can forwards. This worked in the Mercedes, but I havent tested any other car. I hope this helps.

That sounds like a decent idea. Will give it a shot when I get home tonight with the game.

I really wouldn't recommend it. Having a huge FOV like that greatly stretches out the image, and makes the track look like a narrow miniature version, it changes the driving experience for the worse.

My initial thought was that as well, but the "move the horizontal plane as far as you can forwards" is something I'd never tried before on F1 2017.

I'm willing to try anything to get mirrors in cockpit cam - without butchering the FOV alone.

It's WAY more important to have correct FOV than to see the mirrors.  Even with my 21:9 monitor, I can barely see the mirrors in some racing sims.  Haven't got F1 2018 yet to know if they'll fit on the screen.

Yes trying  to make it real as possible.

Bit hard when you can't even see your opponents.

I love the game thanks everyone for their help .
Will just have to hope Codies fix it as really ruins it for me

In another thread about this just a couple of days ago @Faya said she was going forward this request to the development team for review...

hey moogle!  They won't they just need a virtual mirror like every other sim.  Someone had another thread opened where FAYA mentioned it was in an earlier build but it was removed.  She said they might look into putting it back in.

Most of the cars are pretty impossible to see the mirrors in with a decent FOV.

Only 3 of them, IMO, are actually useful. McLaren, Renault and Ferrari.

I have a stupid cockpit cam problem...i use the standard cockpit Cam (no adjustments) and I cannot see the pitlight... Any other way for me to see when I can drive out again, maybe somewhere on my wheel display?

Funny enough  I was very against the virtual  mirror as F1 cars don't use them. But never realised I wouldn't  be able to see out if my Side mirrors.

Are there certain cars which are more troublesome, or are you finding this issue with all cars?

It's because of the physical position of the mirrors on the cars... makes all but 3 of them a real issue.
Well, for me personally that is.
Others may feel different.

True, really funny not to see the pitlight. I drive Sauber.

What do you want Codemasters to do... change the location of the mirrors?

We all knew that anyone in the cockpit would have a difficult time with mirrors... literally the best we can hope for now is that we make enough noise that they put in some virtual mirrors.

All I want is to be able to see whom I'm am racing  .At the moment I have to use markers and look back .I've even tried my cockpit settings from last year no good .

You would've thought this would've been tested before  release .

I actually never complain on here usually  just read the forum lol.
