F1 2018 how to change ai difficulty in career mode?

Recommended Posts

fuuuuuuuuuuuck we really need this option back I really really don't wanna have to race on a difficulty thats too low because I can't be arsed to do those 6 (!) practise programme's on a high difficulty. Goddammit why would this be removed!?

Hey Guys,

I believe you can only change difficulty between race weekends.  During the "loading" screen, there is an options trigger and it's done there.

So, if you're already in a session/in between sessions, you would have to wait until the weekend is over and you're back in the data centre > loading screen.

Hope that helps!
In F1 2017 we were able to change it in between sessions as well as in between weekends. This was a useful and, for some people, vital feature as user ability and AI performance vary quite a lot between sessions (practice, race, and qualifying) as well as between tracks. There was no reason for this to be removed and it needs to be put back in the game. You should be adding features, not removing them.

Why would you remove that. I changed it to 0 for the invitational. And now i'm stuck with 0 difficulty for a very exciting track, Azerbeijan...

Another great feature removed....
0?    why on earth would you put it so low?   in F1 2017 I have it set to 75 which is a decent level for me, challenging but not too hard that I'm seconds off the pace.  but 0?  why even bother playing?  lol

The invitationals and practice programs are a nuisance. In 2017 I would put it on 0 for those and use a controller just to get through it quickly then put it to 110 for qualy and race. It's going to take forever to upgrade Williams to the top, I don't want to struggle through 6 programs each race at 110 difficulty to add to the grind

Why would you do 6 practice programs? You only get paid for 5 and the amount of resource points you earn with practice programs get's lower with each practice program per Grand Prix. Only the first 2 practice programs really earn you resource points the other 3 will throw you some change.

Well that's a good question then, I didn't know that's how it worked in this one, I just got the game I haven't really got into it. Do the invitational events give you any reward?

I hope not because I skipped them

Also look at your team goals in your contract. They will also reward you resource points.

I started my career mode in 76% and is very easy for me. In the previous ones I can change it between races but in this one I don't find the button. Any help?

You can't change the difficulty AI. You'll have to start a new career. If i understand what you mean.
I tested and don't works.

The ability to change difficulty between sessions needs to be brought back immediately (assuming it was a deliberate change and not a bug - I'm hoping it's just a bug and it'll be fixed). It was what made F1 2017 playable for me along with the sliders, after years of suffering with difficulty issues with previous titles. I was able to perfectly gauge the difficulty during the practice sessions, making qualifying and the race competitive and fun.

In my F1 2018 career, I've been having to increase the difficulty by 5% every weekend (Australia, Bahrain, China) because I kept outqualifying my teammate Stroll by nearly 2 seconds and getting into Q3 every weekend in a Williams. It was ridiculous and unenjoyable.

So for Azerbaijan, I whacked it up another 10% and now I'm rock bottom and 4 seconds off the next guy and I can't change it back. Please fix this.

This is nearly game breaking....  I set the difficulty to my 2017 setting and I'm struggling to make practice session times unless I have a perfect lap.  Then I tried the quali session and even the best lap I could muster was half a second off the pace...  This game is incredibly buggy to start.  I've had a glitch or skip on every lap so far, ERS gets stuck on auto during the deployment session, and I haven't even reached P2 of Australia yet..

Confirmed: No resource point for invitation events

I’ve tried changing AI difficulty before you go into a weekend. Still locked in. hopefully a hot fix can resolve this issue. This is first f1 game that I’ve played so I set the difficulty at 40 to learn the game and the physics. Now I feel as I’m on race 8 I could use more challenge. Winning almost all qualifying and racing is getting boring. I want a race.

This is such a poor design choice. I'm going to win Bahrain in my Haas unless I go out of my way to sabotage myself because of it.

I don't see why they would do it intentionally. It really doesn't harm anyone if someone cheats by changing the difficulty on a single player career.

So I'm supposed to just know straight away how good I am at the game? I don't want to re do all the practice programmes but I've set the AI WAY to easy and want to change it. It needs to be put back in as an option to do mid-weekend

I tried to change the settings of my career between sessions and race weeks (Melbourne-Behrain, Behrain-China and China-Baku) and the option never showed up for me. I didn't choose the 'pro' career although I selected and then unselected it. I have the game on SSD as well and the loading screens are very short (maybe that is the issue?). Hope it gets fixed soon :)

Another thing to note that, along with the ability to adjust your difficulty, the same screen that's locked off all weekend also holds the options for flashbacks, corner cutting rules, safety car, etc. All things that can make or break a fun experience for the player.

This issue is the final nail in the purchase coffin for me. I won't even buy it on sale if it is not fixed. After 5 seasons in 2017 I constantly raised AI as my McLaren got OP by a mile..plus then lowered for practice. In fact for me the most useful feature in the whole game. Yes even more important than heat haze!!

It wouldn’t surprise me at all that this will return. Whether it was a design choice or an error in the coding. It’s only the first weekend so I suspect they’ll crack on this week after the Bank Holiday and take a look. P

Is it only possible to change the reace setting between races in career mode in f1 2018. Because i have forgot it now for 3 races and it is a bit annoying that you win the race when you really shouldn't.
