F1 2018 how to change ai difficulty in career mode?

Actually, on Xbox you could not change it on f1 2017 neither
You definetly could. I had the xbox version and later got the pc version and on both it could be changed between sessions.

All you had to do is on the laptop screen quit to main menu. Enter career againThen the pause button would show underloading and you could change it all.

I also don't understand why the simulate rest of race option has been removed, because when we do inevitably guess the difficulty wrong for a given track, we can't even simulate the rest of the race to get a decent result, we just have to retire, since we can't restart and change the difficulty, the entire weekend is just ruined.

This is probobly most viewed and commented post in general discussion for F1 2018. Codemasters can we have comment what will be done about this?

Last comment was from @faya that she sent the problem to the design team. I’d imagine when 1.05 gets released which should be soon it could be opened up in that.

So long story short? (because i had the difficulty set on 100% before i started my career and in the race the AI were so weak) You have to set the the AI difficulty again between loading screens? :#

Fix it quick Codies!

Now it's just a gamble. I started career on 85, went  up between GP's to 101 after three top 6 finishes in McLaren. Got hammered at Baku, went back to 95 (which was okay at Spain), set it to 97 and then got hammered again at Monaco... more than 1 second behind the rest of the field, all weekend long. That's no fun!!!

I want the option to change AI difficulty between sessions if necessary!

Another thing to add is that F1 2017's difficulty (for me at least) was pretty steady. I could have it at 85 for every race except Monaco where I turned it down to 65 and got the same results. F1 2018's difficulty seems a lot more uneven, making the option to test the difficulty in practice even more important.

Tip: something I've always done personally is when saving a setup for a circuit is put the difficulty level in the name. That way, next time around, I know (roughly) which difficulty to use.

Actually, I guess as a temporary workaround, assuming that you haven't already gone into the next weekend, you could quit career while you're still in the datacentre and try a 5 lap Grand Prix at next weekend's track. Tweak the AI until it's tough enough, then try it in career. Might only work for Season 1 though, the car performance levels might have changed a bit in Season 2 onwards.

But yeah, we shouldn't have to do this. It's just one little option in the UI that's missing. Hopefully it'll be fixed sooner rather than later.

You can't change the difficulty AI. You'll have to start a new career. If i understand what you mean.
I tested and don't works.

You can change between weekends only....not between sessions. You HAVE to press the option button during the weekend loading screen

I can’t change the difficulty even between weekends on the Xbox one. It’s really annoying as I don’t want to have to start from the beginning again!

Yup having same issue. Tried altering difficulty after race weekend and its still greyed out. Seriously, why isn't this an option??

Faya has just announced its going into test
Yeah testing something thats been in the game since 2010 ?

Changes still have to go through their automated and (hopefully) manual tests to ensure no major issues arise. Not that they seem to be great at catching the issues thus far sadly.

Hopefully the fix for this goes out soon, just misjudged the difficulty of the Austin GP, came in last after a very boring 100% race.  I needed to complete it to meet my team goal of 'completing two clean races over 2 race weekends', so I completed it though it was torture lol.  Knew it was off before the race as the practice and quali were quite unreasonable.  But couldn't do anything to lower the difficulty.  That was no fun.

What I also would like is that the AI difficulty is saved for every circuit. Because now you have to make a list of how much off the difficulty is on every circuit. Start your second season and you need to look up if the AI on the next circuit is easier or harder

Just wondering why this could be taking so long when the problem has been present since the game's release. It's not even like it's a new feature, it's something they had in the previous game but removed for a reason they have yet to mention. I wouldn't be surprised if they so out of touch with customers that they didn't think anyone needed to change difficulty between sessions.

it was always bothering me why you have to change the difficulty on the loading screen. If you forget you have to quit and start again to go to the options in the loading screen. Why they dont allow you to change the difficulty from the options while on the workstation?

@Brunocar100 exactly, having this locked to begin with is just silly.

Why would you lock people into a difficulty thats not right for them forca whole race weekend.

For 100% players thats 4 hours of practise, another maybe 2 hours for race and qualy. 6 hours of gameplay untl you can change the settings I mean come on codies WTH!

Race settings should always be available to change!
Agreed. It's odd that even in F1 2017, you had to change it on a loading screen (feel bad for anyone with an SSD because that's blink-of-an-eye territory probably).

I don't see what's stopping them from allowing us to do it from the Data Centre. I can't think of anything that would conflict with difficulty changes there, there's no cars on track, no timing screen, and setting-wise, it just feels like the perfect place for it, perhaps even integrate it into the laptop menu.

This is the worst thing in the game - why can't I change the AI? I can't even change it before FP1, even if I quit out and come back into career... It's really bad design.

With the new patch where the interview speed is set to Full by default, it can't be changed as it's grayed out. This means just like AI difficulty, interview speed can only be changed ONCE i.e. before starting the career. Really no sense adding the interview speed if it can't be amended in careers already underway.

Also considering AI speed or competitiveness is slower in qualy compared to race, it surely is confusing for the player to get the best setting for the AI difficulty which can't be just kept untouched.
