F1 2018 crashes on loading screen with CPUs which has SSSE3 compatibility [PC, version 1.04]

Recommended Posts

Hi All. Unfortunately, we're not seeing a clear pattern with the issues reported, so will have to try another approach. We'll try and give some more info tomorrow once we've checked out some of the details with the dev team.

Hello All. If your game is crashing when launching the game or loading to track then please message me your Steam ID and I can use that to find your crash information. This might give us some more useful information.
For instructions on finding your Steam ID, please see our help guide here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/132514/f1-games-technical-assistance-bug-reports-please-read-before-posting.

@daangamesf1 - I can't locate a crash dump for you. Please can you confirm the symptoms that your are experiencing so we can investigate further? Sending through your dxdiag and hardware_settings files may also help us work out what might be happening. Instructions for sending this to us are here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/132514/f1-games-technical-assistance-bug-reports-please-read-before-posting.

@Martincg - I've got a crash reported on v1.04 from you, but nothing since. However, that does show that your system specs look below our minimum specifications in a couple of areas. It's hard to confirm without more info though. First off, please try running the game at the lowest settings to see if this makes a difference.

If this doesn't work then please send through your dxdiag and hardware settings file and we'll see if there is anything else we can do to help you out. Instructions for sending this to us are here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/132514/f1-games-technical-assistance-bug-reports-please-read-before-posting

@Krishi - the specs of your PC seem fine. You have reported a few different crashes though, so something seems off here. Interestingly, most the crashes seem to be part way through career mode, so it looks like something else might be happening here. I would recommend that you start a new support thread about this so that we can investigate it further. The specific bits of information that would be helpful to kick off the thread would be:
  • Whether other (non-career) game modes are affected by this.
  • If this is career mode only, does it happen every time you load into the session? If so, please send us your save game file.
Instructions for creating a new support thread and sending through the appropriate info can be found here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/132514/f1-games-technical-assistance-bug-reports-please-read-before-posting

@Andrey9020, @Nelcandido - you are both experiencing the same crash which appears to be caused by CPU incompatibility. Looking at the other users who have also had this crash, they are all on the older Core2 and Pentium chips which are currently below our recommended spec. We are investigating this further to see if there is anything we can do about this. In the meantime, I would suggest experimenting with lowering your graphics and resolution settings and attempting to load up different game modes to see if adjusting any of these allows you to progress any further into the game. Please let us know if you have any success with this.

@Hoo Can you please have a look at mine thanks? https://steamcommunity.com/id/monjue/

Im having many problems.. Game crashes during races, fps spikes, micro stutters during races, crackling sound that then lags by a second or so.. its just becoming unplayable. I have emailed crash report to CM a few days ago, but no reply.

Thank you.

Hi Hoo,
I tried different game modes with lowering graphics and resolution settings, but unsuccessfully. I had tried before. I don't know what to do anymore. I know that my hardware is bellow recommended specs. But, the game F1 2017 doesn't  have problem and are the same spec.

Thank you.
Please can you start a new thread as this is a different issue. There are other threads reported about stuttering too, so please check these in case they are the same issue and have any workarounds that might help you.

Are you able to post (or message) your Steam ID and we'll check this against the crash reports?

@Nelcandido, @Andrey9020 - each year new features are added and improvements are made to many game systems. Sometimes this requires optimisations that are not possible on some older hardware, so compatibility with previous versions of the game doesn't mean the next game with work with the same hardware. However, I have logged this issue with the dev team to investigate further and will update you if I get any more information.

Hello. Looking at the crash information the game is failing in an area to do with voice communication, so there may be some problem with the audio or microphone configuration, or conflict with other audio software, which is causing this crash in the multiplayer session. Please could you create a new support thread for this issue and also send through your dxdiag and hardware settings file and we'll see if we can track down this problem? Thanks.
