AI Difficulty 2018

Recommended Posts

Wondering all your thoughts on AI difficully this year?

Started playing (on pc with Xbox controller) and cranked it up to 110 AI. Was back of grid by about 2 seconds.... Might have to crank it down somewhat.

Just wondering if anyone found in 2018 that they can't compete at the difficulty they were at before

I was on 107% difficulty on F1 2017, on F1 2018 I have started on 100% difficulty, finished p7 with Williams. Turned it up to 104% now and slowly turn it up as I get used to it.

Yes, had it on 110 last year, won the championship and now I'm struggling on F1 2018. I should practice in time trial before every race like I did in F1 2017 but I'll rather use practice in career only, even if it means it will take a lot longer for me to learn. At least I'll maybe do more seasons than previous years.

I refuse to lower the difficulty though even when I'm 2 seconds off in Baku. I was on the pace, even faster, when it was full wet in China so I'm getting used to it. It's a shame though that AI is so inconsistent. So much better at some tracks and so slow on others and in rain. But I'm loving the challenge. It's great to race AI that is not a pussy..

It's a bit out of line depending on the tracks. So far I've done up to Canada in career on 110 with McLaren
Results being something like
Aus - 12
Bah - 11
Chi - 4
Bak - Retired xD (crash)
Spn - 7
Mon - 2
Can - 3

So quite clearly they are ridiculously slow at some tracks, and pretty damn fast at others considering that McLaren should be about 7th - 12th depending on track. I think maybe they have low downforce setups for tracks like Baku and Bahrain which might explain a lot, but I'm not sure.

In F1 2017 I was a second faster than 110 AI.
In F1 2018 I started with 110 and was last on the grid, 0.3 s behind team mate Leclerc. Did manage all purple in all practice programs.

Started another career with Williams at 101 AI, purple in all practice by over 1 s. Qualified 11th, finished easily in the points. Bahrain was more difficult. Forgot to up difficulty for China and had qualifying pace for top 5. Finished 2nd in race n pure pace.

I have the impression there may be a big gap between 101 and 110 and it makes me wonder what difficulty to pick.
Also, form youtubers I've noticed that Bahrain and Baku AI are massively op and 110 AI seems absurd on those tracks.

I like that the AI are more stern with their actions too now, not only can they wheel to wheel through corners without backing right out like before they actually fight all the way! I have had some amazing battles at every point of the grid! AND they don't smash into you at pit exit anymore haha! I'm realy loving the AI for 2018, nice one Codies!

Id have to disagree and say at Bahrain the 110 Ai seemed just about right considering I was basically matching teammates pace for the entire race. But Baku yeah seemed a bit OP, however I only did about 5 laps there before losing all front wing and retiring to save engine parts and gearbox haha. Going to be interesting to see what the next tracks are like, from 2017 I remember the 2nd half of the season AI turned to potatos who could be beaten by a lawnmower so hopefully it's a bit harder for those tracks xD
