F1 2018 DLC PS4 Code not accepted

Bought the game this afternoon. Tried applying the DLC code to be greater with not a valid code. As the game was brand new and unopened, I guess this is a bug. Not a great start to the game when you can’t even access the DLC being advertised.

Hello @Marcrod. Please can you try the following:
  • Install and patch the game to the latest version and then launch it to check that the base version of the game works correctly.
  • Reboot your PS4 console and then re-enter your code in the PlayStation Store->Redeem Code section (please double-check that the code is entered exactly as printed on your DLC card)
Please also ensure that your PSN account is registered to the same region as the DLC product that you have purchased (e.g. a North American PSN account will not work when redeeming a code from a European product and vice versa).

I bought the game in Hong Kong. Hence why it might not work. How do I apply it. Change my PSN store to HK?

After doing a bit of research, I can see that my PS4 (I used to live in the UK and moved to HK) and account is UK. I buy games in HK now, so I guess I’ll never be able to use the codes. If I want a specific DLC on a game, I’ll have to import the game from the UK. Pretty labourious and not needed imho. How cars that are seen around the world are DLC region locked is beyond me. I don’t want to create a new PS4 store account, as that means all the trophies are reset. Am I able to exchange the code for a UK one? Or am I destined to have to go on eBay to get one ?

Hi. Let me go and check the situation here as I'm not certain how the region breakdown works with regards to DLC in this instance.

Hi @Marcrod. The DLC codes distributed in Hong Kong are for the SIE-Asia region. Unfortunately, you won't be able to redeem this code using a UK PSN account. The two options I'd suggest are:
  1. Create a PSN account in the Hong Kong territory which will be able to redeem the DLC code. I think that activating the DLC using a second Hong Kong account would still have the DLC activated on your primary account if done on the same console. You'd probably want to double-check that before redeeming your code though.
  2. Contact the Ubisoft's help team and see if they are able to help you resolve this issue (they are the publisher/distributor for the Hong Kong territory). Their details should be contained in the manual.
