F1 2018 - Which platform has the best graphics?

Recommended Posts

PC... If you have the hardware to back it up.

Xbox and PS4 don't even come close to the potential of a gaming rig.

Running the game using DSR settings on a 2560 x 1440 screen with 2X resolution at 70 - 80 fps..it looks glorious.

Ryzen 5 1600 / Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti Extreme edition.

Exactly PC will always give you best performance and looks in any game you just need the hardware to back it up. It is why some certainly powerful rigs can be rather expensive. I've just upgraded mine with some new graphics cards and bought a new 4K capable monitor to replace my old TV which broke last week. Although I've not played 2018 yet as I'm going to wait till CM get some patches out for it first but I have been playing my 2016 an d2017 careers that I have on the go and I can see the jump in looks and performance already because my old cards were getting dated as well.

Yeah PC because you can spend 3k on a gaming PC and $500 on a PS4 Pro, so it just depends how much money you put into it
Plus how many bugs you can live with. From what I read on the forum the PC version is infested with bugs whilst I only encountered one bug in my first season on PS4 Pro. It's one of the reasons I stopped PC gaming, I always got disappointed. I never got the graphics that I thought I would get because my computer was already one year old and most games came with game breaking bugs that took way too long to get patched.  PC gaming made me always need a new computer. Those days are over now. I have the best graphics and none of the bugs. (with best graphics I mean that I wou:d not have the best graphics if I had a PC because I never had the best graphics on PC anyway)

I compared the two. Have a beast PC and at max graphics there isn't much difference to PS4 PRO version with HDR

The Xbox One X version looks great on a 4k tv with HDR. You really need a powerful computer to see a small margin. I didn't compare F1 2018 but I did with Forza 7.

Although I don't have the most powerful video card (GTX 1070) combine with an I7-8700k I don't see much difference on Forza 7 and it looks like the HDR is screwed up on PC.

The X1X is a very impressive for 500$, you need to pay 3-4x more to have the same settings or better on a PC. Of course you cant compare a PC for customization.

X1X is not impressive enough if you have already PS4 Pro, PC looks more impressive

Youtube videos are compressed and most of the time not HDR, it gives an idea but it's not the 'real' thing.

Somewhat exaggerated. You can get a decent gaming PC for half that and you wont have to spend £50-£60 for games on a PC.

Consoles seem cheaper, but when you factor in the price of games and online subscriptions they really aren't.

Xbox One X beats the PS4 Pro in terms of graphics and performance again. Start watching at the 6 minute mark for a comparison.

PS4 Pro is a garbage 3rd world console, so you're right on that one.

But you are grossly mistaken about the Xbox One X. Two examples of the Xbox One X vs a high end PC:

Gears of War 4

In terms of pure image fidelity, it surprisingly looked better than our high-end gaming PC equipped with a GTX 1080 running the game maxed out, as it offered extra dynamic shadows that don't seem to be available on the PC.

Forza Motorsport 7

Essentially, the Xbox One X looks to be delivering the ultra-high-end experience without compromising performance, and as a result the game looks and feels great to play. It's shaping up to be the real deal - a native 4K60 racing game that features top-end PC quality visuals but on a console.

That's a cute little fantasy world you're living in, but Digital Foundry has video after video after video showing the significant graphical and performance advantage the Xbox One X has over the PS4 Pro. The Pro can't do native 4K on any games that are actually visually demanding. Xbox One X has better anti-aliasing, higher res textures, more advanced shaders, greater drawing distances, higher and more stable frame rates, etc., on every game.

Dude you just showed a clip with minor differences between X1X and PS4 Pro. X1X doesn't come close to PC.

It game dependent.

But f1 2018 on OG xbox is still pretty bad for screen tearing, but I feel like FPS isn't as bad as I remember 16 was.

I did tear the OG apart and give it a good cleaning though. Fan and intakes were caked in dust lol

PCs are too expensive and complicated, imo.  The gap has gotten so close now that its smarter to just go console and relax.
