Patch Notes for 1.05 – DISCUSSION THREAD

Really really disappointed with the medium TC rebalance. It was the perfect handling for me. I don't even play online, don't understand why I've got to suffer for it.
Because the online elite geeks who sit at home all day playing who don't have a proper full time job have moaned about being outdone by those on medium TC and codies have listened.

Getting ridiculous this esports thing - I could not care less about online play as I don;t want to race people like this.
Likewise, I could not care less if you can't accept reducing your AI difficulty and either going TC off or full. If you're going to be brash and dismissive of a sizeable population of the community that want a balanced multiplayer experience, then don't feel like you can't get your own back.

Is there a way for CM to make online a separate mode, so that they can tweak it without disrupting those who play offline? Other sports games like NBA 2K do it.

For example, someone posted that there could be a weight addition to slow down medium TC drivers. Why not have that affect online play only?

I'm so curious to see how the backend of this game works.

You already have the option to restrict assists in online sessions - sounds to me like pure laziness on the elites part.

Turn TC off in the lobby settings and let the vast majority who never even touch online keep the medium TC the game had then.

Sadly there is no way to be able to please everyone, but it is good there is discussion on how to improve or adjust it further. I still think a compromise could be to add a "low" setting with the new rebalance, and keep medium as it was before. Or settle on somewhere between the two and tweak a little further. I actually play with a pad on full TC, but was thinking of graduating to medium TC for more of a challenge. I only play offline and would only consider myself a casual user.

The issue with online - I can see what people are saying about running medium as it was before causing a potential unfair advantage in some cases. Not something I have any experience with so I cannot really have an opinion. A few of the posts mention a weight penalty for using TC, maybe this could be made an option for online only. There are at least some good ideas on the thread on how to make it more flexible.

Edit: I did just read above that you can restrict assists anyway when online, not being an online player I'm not sure why this isn't sufficient.

My personal opinion is to maybe open up a 4th option.

A possibility could be career mode medium is how it was and online medium is how it is now?

Way to stereotype. Badly.

I tried everything i had like 15 laps in Abu Dhabi and i couldnt beat fuel ERS tyre management. I am like 1.5 to 2 seconds slower than usual. In the images you can see that my development is high enough to have tap times around 5th place, but i cant reach it. It took me half the season to get a good feeling for the car and balance the AI difficulty. I have no interest in to balance it for the first half of season 2 as well

Everyone here saying to just disable TC in lobbies doesn't understand that this can't be done in ranked mode: where most people abusing medium TC would theoretically be found.

destroyed the medium tc... gg. not everybody got a great steering wheel/pedals and is able to be a god on traction. Losing it nearly everywhere.

Gotta fully agree with @BiggyT
Actually after being a no assist pad player for the last couple of games and switching to the wheel recently enough I can definitely say traction is easier on the controller..

That would work, but the issue going down this route is people who play medium in career then decide to play online, and then wonder why the handling is vastly different and they keep spinning the car out of corners, even though the options are set the same. I think an additional option is a way to please the majority, it's just how additional restrictions (if any) are dealt with for online users.

Have they said what they actually changed? They could have done something that didn't change how MED TCS works but limits its effects online...weight penalty seemed easiest. Seems like theyve just changed its activation? Has anyone tried changing diff or throttle settings with medium? Changing settings, setups or how you drive was good enough for anyone having issues with tyres overheating, why not for MED TCS.

I think Codemasters should only provide "one" TC setting. Then they have the chance to balance this "one" TC to be a little slower then without TC and to be comfortable for gamepad users. Looks like everybody uses medium TC because full TC is way to slow, this leads to the fact that full TC is not needed and could be merged in one TC setting (on / off like the ABS).

Hi all,

I've updated the Patch Notes thread in regards to the updated Medium Traction Control.  For ease of use I'll copy it here as well;

Hi all,

We’ve listened to your feedback on the Medium Traction Control update and we can see that the majority of you are not happy with the current update.

For the moment, we are going to roll the changes back while we investigate other possible avenues. For PC users, a hotfix should be going up shortly. For PS4 and Xbox One users, this should not affect you as we will remove the changes from the patches due to go live this week for you.

Thank you all again for your feedback and your patience while we take a further look at the Medium Traction Control settings.

I know, it's a bit unfair for the online users (as you explanations said). But I think it's the right way, to go with the wish of the majority(!) and than to work out a solution for the online mode problem.

When the changes are rolled back, I'll be happy. I hope, you online users will be happy soon, top!

@faya
Is the "changes rolling back" coming with a new patch? Could you say, when it arrives?
Sorry, but I want to play ??

Thanks @Faya for your Quick answer and décision . The feeling of the car is much better on the 2018 with the pads.  i think the best way is to ad more traction control level.

Hello @Faya

I just don´t get it?!
Why you guys make it so complicated at codemasters. Leave the assists as they are, BUT just put some weight on the car for each assist the driver uses. This will balance the problem much simpler. Nothing changes with the traction but every activated assist makes you a bit slower because you are just heavier. Basically like performance-weight in real motorsport.

This should be good for all users, because you get rewarded with a lighter/faster car if you able to drive without some or any assists and if you are not able to drive without them, you still got a very stable car but you are just not that fast. Everybody can choose.
This option should also make it easier for you to make "performance-balancing" in the future.

Kind regards Alex
