F1 2018 - Bug with the visuals?

Question

Dear F1 lovers,

I really love racing games and playing F1 2017 was really fun to me.
I'm just playing most of the times for fun and I'm not that competitive in this game than others.

But when I started this game up for the first time I had this bug as you can see on the picture.
The sky is all black and white and when I drive, it gets worse.

I looked up on the internet for a fix, but I couldn't find anything.
I've tried restarting my computer several times, and also delete and install the game several times.

My drivers are all up-to-date. I don't have this problem at F1 2017.

Does someone know a fix to this issue? I would like to play the game, because it's really expensive...

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Damian

Hi there,

To start with I would suggest doing as @Chicane486 has said by verifying your game files. If your game files are okay and you're still getting the issue, then could you send us your DXDiag and Hardware settings so that we can take a further look? Many thanks,

How to save a DXDiag

In Windows 7:

  1. Click on the "Start" Button.
  2. In the Search Box type dxdiag and press <Enter>. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool pop-up window should appear.
  3. Click on “Save all Information.”
  4. Save the information to your Desktop, keep the file name as is.
  5. Send the file to us at community(AT)codemasters.com (replacing the (AT) with an @ )

In Windows 8, Windows 10:

  1. Press the [Windows]+[R] keys on your keyboard to bring up the Run command.
  2. In the "Run" command box, type in dxdiag and press <Enter>. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool pop-up window should appear.
  3. Click on "Save all Information."
  4. Save the information to your Desktop, keep the file name as is.
  5. Send that file to us at community(AT)codemasters.com (replacing the (AT) with an @ )

How to send us your in-game hardware settings file

  • Browse to your hard drive where windows in installed
  • Browse to "...\Documents\My Games\<game_folder>\hardwaresettings\"
  • Locate the file "hardware_settings_config.xml" and send this to us at community(AT)codemasters.com (replacing the (AT) with an @)

Dear @Chicane486 and @Faya,

Thanks in advance for trying to solve the issue.
The option to verify the game files didn't work unfortunately.

Also, I've send the files to the community mail to Faya so I'll just wait for the response.
The mail is called the same as the title of the forum post.

If someone else has another suggestion I'll kindly try it.

Hi @sorus17

I was out of patience so I requested a repay. However, I gave it one more try and bought the game again.
But then suddenly the game is completely fine without any issues.
I don't know if the latest patch solved the issue or just completely rebuying the game solves it.

However it's fixed for me. If you still have the same issue, please dont hesitate to ask me or admin members.
For me the game is playable now and I'm having loads of fun!

Kind regards,
Damian

Hi all,

For those who have not already done so, can you please send us your DXDiags and Hardware settings so we can continue to check this out. In the mean time, please also try the following;

  • Verify your game files
  • Update your graphics drivers
  • Lowering your graphics settings

Let me know if any of those have any affect. Many thanks,

Completely uninstalling the graphics drivers and software from your computer and then re-installing them from their website fixed my issues completely

Yeah it's probably forced Windows 10 updates destroying the 3D acceleration of older drivers.

You just gotta keep updating and roll with the punches.
