Multiplayer - Able to see telemetry data of opponents cars...

Recommended Posts

Hello,
we realized that it is possible to see the oponent car status in online races. Which means, everybody who is using a telemetry tools is able to see i.e. the tyre usage of the oponents. Especially in league racing, this is unfair advantage to all others who don't use a telemetry tool. Because these are informations, what you should not have of another car. Even in real F1 they don't have it...

This has to be blocked by the game. The telemetry tools developers using all data which the can get from the game. (I would do it also like that).
It should not be possible to see telemetry data of oponents cars in Multiplayer!

This has been a thing since at least 2010.

"Even in real F1 they don't have it" - that is not true. Every team can see the telemetry of other cars in front, behind, and anywhere on the track.
About the tyre degradation is another story, but practice gives most teams good insight about the track/car/tyre so every team can still make good assumptions about the tyre wear. The last race at Monza showed that Mercedes was able to anticipate the stop by Räikkönen due to tyre degredation and the affected time loss each lap due to that.

AOR is a racing league, and their rules don't event lose a word on these tools.

So what is your point? Even if you know how fast a car is going, gaining/losing delta and such won't help you win a race. It doesn't give you magically driving skills. You still have to race by yourself.

In case anyone wants to use this telemetry app too, I found it here: https://www.team-telemetry.de/download/ (no, it is not my app)

Thanks, i know which telemetry tool it is.

Every team can see the telemetry of other cars in front, behind, and anywhere on the track.

This is simply not true. They have GPS data, and can listen to radio communication and so on... They don't have hard facts about the other car, like tyre temps, degredation... bla bla bla. They can anticipate a lot, but they don't have real data.

AOR only have 50% races. In 99 % of the cases, one stop is king, and by far the fastest strategy. So, there is no advantage for them to use that data in 50% races0.

In 100 % races, there are a lot more strategy options, and you are right, you will not get faster, with the information you get from the tool, but you have a big advantage on strategy side. You can see, if the oponent is going for one more stop or not, how the degradation of a different tyre compound on an oponents car is and so on...

And this can be the diffrence between 1st and 2nd... And just to use it, because everybody is using it and get information they should not have, is the wrong way imho. Because its data what I also should not have.

As I already said it doesn't really matter if you know how much percent tyre degradation you have or anybody else knows about you.
The players that play for fun don't care at all if anyone is using such a tool.

At a higher level (where it could matter) you have most likely players who will have similar tyre degredation anyways. Plus they most likely are very well aware of other players tyres / strategies.

The highest level you can compete in, is the F1 Esports league which will, in the later stages, be held at hosted locations anyways. I don't think you are allowed to install any tools on the PC's (if they use PC's).

Bottom line is that it is still a game for most of the player base and nothing your life will depend on.

You can use those arguments for anything in any game, so thats bit senseless.
If you have a game breaking bug i can say - hey its just a game and nothing your life will depend on.

so what.

Strategy wise this advantage of infos change a lot. And in the next step you can maybe see how much ERS everyone has left?

I don't think this discussion leads to anything anyways. I am a bloody casual (not a bad one) and I couldn't care less about anyone knowing anything about my car I am driving. Codemasters will not do anything about it anyways, since telemetry always contained this kind of data.

Yep, that's possible. Here is all the data one can read: https://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/136948/f1-2018-udp-specification

Fair enough, then no one would care if its no longer in...
