F1 2019 Game Ideas

Codemasters have created yet another unique game to add to their franchise. Formerly quoted as “the best F1 game to date.” 

Codemaster has created a spectacular game with the help of its new  features, the return of the interviews, the development of the R and D tree, the development of classic cars, the graphics, the visibility enhancement and so forth. All of these elements have made this F1 2018 game amazing. 

However, with every game there’s always room for improvement. In this discussion I will be stating a few ideas for the next F1 2019 game and I hope some of you reading will be able to give ideas to improve the franchise. 

- Story mode, starting at go karts and making your way up through the categories (F4, British F3, European F3, F2 and F1). Gives a real life style feature of working hard, in order to get to the top. 

- Crashes need to be slightly more realistic 

- New and more realistic TV cameras when viewing or reviewing a race etc

- New and more realistic TV camera views of the introduction to a practice, qualifying and race session. 

- The people need to be more realistic, maybe EA sports can help. This year compared to last year it was pretty bad. Daniel Riccardo does not look like Daniel Riccardo on this years game.

- The return of Thursday press conferences  

- Being able to roam around the paddock area 

- Being able to interact with other drivers whether it be on the track parade, paddock or racing facility 

- The introduction of team orders, if your not in a world championship position or your driver number 2 you will be told to move over. It will hugely effect the atmosphere of the team, factory and it might effect the R and D’s, whether you decide to let your teammate by or keep yourself infront of your teammate

- Marshals actually come out and clean out the debris instead of it disappearing

- More analytical information such as, steering angle, speed across a corner, graphs and so forth 

- Introduction of in game commentary for various languages. So like if you select your language as Spanish you will have Spanish reporters etc. 

- More enthusiasm from the commentators, they sound dull compared to real life commentary 

- Be able to open DRS fully. The DRS has two open flaps. One is at like 45 degrees let’s say and the other is at 90 degrees

- Punctures need to be more realistic, they need to delaminate first then blow up and then shred

- More first lap incidents 

- Along with those rare big crashes in every session whether it be in the practice, qualifying or race session 

- Be able to get sponsored or be sponsored and as a result gain in R and D points

- Manually enter the pits 

- Manually drive into your pit box

- Be able to vary engine modes

- Winter testing and in season testing. Not only would it enhance the performance of the car but potentially next year or next season the car could be at the back due to the amount of R and D points you have at the end of the season and so forth. 

These are some of ideas that I had. I still have more but I want to be able to read other people’s idea.

I think everyone would agree all of those points would make the game undoubtedly more immersive and realistic. But I know for a fact half if not almost all of those things won't be possible due to licensing issues or just preference of FOM. 

Working your way up through karting to lower formula's for example just opens up a can of licensing worms and additional work almost doubling the size of the game itself. Marshall's on track however, I suspect FOM overseeing the general development of the title won't want people swerving, trying to aim for them etc, you know, daft and silly things like that. I've heard sponsors/teams/FOM don't like the cars to be seen damaged beyond repair because it just isn't what the sport is about, it's leaning towards safety even if it's only really visualised.. That's what I understand anyway.

I agree with your creativity though, definitely.

I read the comments. Btw with FOM I am fully aware of the things they can place in F1 games etc (most of it), but yeeehhh. Just blast some random ideas for next year games ???.

Please, but please borrow, take, steal, buy what ever u need a penalty sistem for online racing from GT Sport. No more warning 1-2-3, straight to penalty's. It will make online gaming much more tolerable. Thank you

The flag from their countries in the side of the driver's name. 
Like in F1 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

I've been playing F1 since before Codemasters. Now with character development, I'd like to see Asian driver characters in the game!!!! There are currently various races and sexes but no Asians for whatever reason. I don't believe there has ever been a black woman in an F1 car or career but there are several in the game. In the history of the sport, there have been several Asian that were fielded for multiple seasons. Why are there no Asians. One of the engine manufacturers is Japanese. There is not even a Japanese character in the game. Please fix this. Secondly and most importantly, you have to allow for the user to scale up the force feedback(more detail). You are losing a lot of players and playtime to other games that can only imitate F1 because they don't have the license. If you can do this, they may never go anywhere else.

So I have an idea of what I would like to see in 2019, which I'd like to assume has already been tossed around before, but just in case here it is. 

Manager/Driver mode. Inspired by Dirt.

An 11th team.

With the options to do the following: 

Choose a budget -
a sandbox mode with a super high top tier team budget; a 'Sheik' mode where the team is owned by a rich dude with quite a bit of money; Entrepreneur mode with a good amount of cash, but not as much. 

Result expectations and penalties ensue depending on which mode is chosen. (Can't make it too easy!!)

Chose a team -
on Dirt there was the option to hire and fire team members. Engineers, media relations, driver physiotherapists etc could be hired depending on funds and reputation. And these could be made up people or real people. Also add to this the option of choosing the drivers; be it poached from an existing team (meaning the team they can from has to hire another driver) or maybe have a mixture of real and made up drivers from lower formulas to choose from. Could you imagine being able to promote #billywhizz?? Of course keep the option to create a driver that way not only can you manage the team but can also drive the races as yourself. Also maybe have the option to chose which driver you race as at each race. For example - your second driver qualified higher that your first driver and you believe as a team you have a chance of a better result with him (or her!) Even maybe chose a reserve driver and factor in injuries after crashes. 


Option not to drive -
although it is a driving game I have to admit that some tracks I just can't get my head around. Maybe factor in the option to be on the pit wall firing out strategies for both your drivers, radio communications etc. This idea might not go anywhere as it's more like Championship Manager - and this isn't football. 


Design the car -
So the main thing to choose would be the paint design and colours (again like on Dirt). But to also be able to define the shape of the car could be interesting. For example - the front wing of a Ferrari, side pods of a Sauber, nose cone of a Mercedes, monkey seat from a Red Bull. Plus the designers could make their own and have a catalogue or part shapes and designs, obviously not venturing too far away from what the teams have already. Add to this (again like Dirt) the option to choose sponsors and the design of the car and team begins to take shape. Money starts pouring in... unless you suck and sponsors dump you :-/


A realistic mode -
Bring in the unknown and create an algorithm that randomly decides if a part of a car should fail. The % wear was a great idea but it makes it too predictable. Of course having an engine totally blow up when you're on the last lap could be infuriating, so maybe (secretly) make it so that failures only happened in the first half of a race so the player could restart. Collisions effect the car more such as a broken radiator could cause the engine to overheat, or broken fuel lines etc. In the latter half maybe the failures aren't quite as catastrophic, but do hinder the performance of the car meaning car management is increased. And award skill points for keeping the car going. Don't make it so the car has a problem every race though, that would get old very quickly! 


Helmet design -
not a massive idea really but while I'm here: create the ability to create more detailed helmet designs. Probably best to have a PC or Mac download to do this as on Xbox and PlayStation it could be a bit clunky, but don't rule it out. There could be some brilliant helmet designs made in the future if people were able to use photoshop and such to create their perfect helmet. 


Long shot, but facial upload -
so EA managed a while ago to make it that your face could be on your star player in FIFA. Could this be achieved in F1 2019?

Choose an engine manufacturer -
car won't go anywhere without one! 

In addition to being the 11th team, there could be the option of an online co-op. Your team against your friends team, as well as the current other teams currently in F1. 12 teams in total. Or even fill the field entirely by making it up to 14 teams, 4 friends battling against Hamilton and Vettel! Awesome!

1.  "Career Community Stewarding/Overwatch" (Based off CSGO Overwatch)

-A game mode in which the community decide which driver should get penalised for certain incidents in the career mode. As soon as the game indicates an incident in someone's career mode game, that incident will be looked into by the community itself. This can also include only AI driver's incidents. This would only work in career mode and (maybe) online. A player will have the option to disable this feature in his/her career mode, athough enabling it will add realism to the game greatly, as if a real steward is judging an incident. The community players/stewards can also be rewarded with certain things.

I wonder if im the only one...i always thought that your team of engineers should handle up grades and resource points...u do the practise programs gain the resource points but then the team makes the upgrades(obv with ur imput)...also id like to know what set up my team mate is using alog with his pit schedule..and i know its cause of the fia(or f1 them selves)...but for the love of god..let ai drivers change teams!! It would make it so much more interesting..i also agree wih team orders, or atleast something to let u feel like first or second driver

F1 2018 was a improvement from 2017 but i have alot of things that want to be in 2019
1. Press conference for every race weekend
2. Be able to talk in the press conferences
3. Young drivers test from 2012-2013
4. Pre season testing
5. Able to wonder through the paddock
6. Formula 2 cars in Classic cars
7. Car Damage Animations
8. Ability to control your car in the pit lane
9. Helmet Design system 
10. Free tyre choice all weekends
11. Alot more classic tracks
12. Better ERS System
13. Contract for how many seasons with that team
14. Team radio option so we can talk to our team through voice instead of Muted Chat system

"Scenario Mode"

-Custom scenario modes which are able to be played at free will, not just every weekend on that race and such. Scenarios like changing history: For example:

-You're driving Ayrton Senna's 1989 McLaren at the 1989 Japanese GP at Suzuka and your goal is to catch Prost for the last 10 laps to win the race and keep the championship alive.

-You're driving Juan Manuel Fangio's Maseratti 1957 at the Nürburgring and you're trying to catch the two Ferrari's with a 40 second deficit after your slow pitstop for the last 10 laps.

-You're driving Jacques Villenueve's 1997 Williams at the 1997 European GP at Jerez and after your final pitstop you have about 20 laps to catch Michael Schumacher and win the race and with it the championship.

-You're driving Lewis Hamilton's 2008 McLaren at Interlagos (2008 Brazilian GP) with fresh wet tyres. Felipe Massa, your championship rival, is leading the race. After the bad run out of the final corner with the final 2 laps to go, the Toro Rosso overtakes you. Can you overtake some of the cars ahead which stayed out on dry tyres to take back that fifth spot and with it, the championship?

"Setup screen"
One thing I would like to see is the ability to move a particular setup to the top of screen to save time scrolling through a heap of setups which would be very useful when competing in the online events (when you retry as many times as i do lol).

This would be easy to implement... would be great if Codemasters could add it through an update in this years game

da ich selbst sehr gern F1 2018 aus PS4 Spiele habe ich eine idee die man vielleicht sogar noch in F12018 bringen kann und zwar ob es möglich ist 
bei der traktionskontrolle noch hinzu fügen kann gering es gibt ja Komplett Mittel und aus und ob man zwischen aus Mittel und aus nicht noch gering machen kann das man es üben kann ohne Tk zu fahren. ansonsten das die strenge der Kurven usw. der Realen F1 entspricht und man auch so fahren kann. Fährt man wie in real bekommt man leider schnell strafen was ich nicht toll finde.  Da ich selbst eine liga habe sind das punkte die man noch in 2048 verbessern solte und in 2019 machen kann.  Die liga homepage : www.formula1-racing-club.de.rs fahrer werden immer gesucht wie auch kommentatoren :)  schön Tag noch.

F1 2019 dovrebbe uscire Marzo massimo Aprile (come fanno fifa e pes per il calcio).
Fare uscire il gioco quando mancano due mesi alla fine del campionato è ridicolo e poco simpatico nei confronti dei fans.
Altra pecca è la completa assenza del mercato piloti.
Come dimostrano le attuali gomme in formula 1, il regime di monopolio non porta nessun vantaggio per nessuno se non per colui che è in monopolio (Codemasters per il gioco, Pirelli per le gomme).

There absolutely has to be a customizable driver and team grid in F1 2019.
You should be able to change every single driver's name and game face. There should also be scanned faces of F2 and F3 drivers so that you can for example put someone like de Vries in a McLaren (just an example) by changing the name of let's say Carlos Sainz and changing his game face. In the "drivar avatars" option when you pick your avatar in career mode, it should also work like that for the grid editor. There should be a custom avatar/official avatar(f1,f2,f3) option.
This would be the easiest way to get around copyright, because of no driver transfers.

So with all you're suggesting when do we race? Walk around the paddock. Press conferences. Designing cars. I came to race, secure upgrades and then accolades. Put ranking back into career and if you need crowds...leave your house. Keep racing.

It would be nice if you can set car performance to equal in Grandprix mode too. This makes it easier to practice for League races. In the current game all cars differ slightly between Online and Offline modes.

It would be nice to have the F3 and F2 series in the game also, but I don't think this will happen unfortunately.

Creating your own scenario's would be a nice feature. It would be nice to compete against friends and see who does best.

My suggestions:
- Manual cooldown lap after the session has finished
- More flags (red, double yellow, white, red and yellow flag together)
- Modify AI aggression and behaviour (make them block other cars or you)
- Realistic physics with car
- Walk out of car and roam freely around garage (or if stopped on track, walk into the back of an ambulance)
- Enter into cooldown room after race
- Driving safety car or other emergency vehicles
- Access other parts of a track we normally don't go
- Make cars bounce in air when in contact with wheels
- In some severe crashes, impact catch fence or jump over walls
- Grass, gravel trap more bumpy
- AI making their own mistakes such as spinning out, scraping a wall, driving off course, cut a corner
- More dynamic weather system (stormy, heavier rain)
- Spectator mode, similar to the mode on 989 Sports F1 games, but offline races
- More driver frustration when colliding with another car or a wall
These suggestions can go for career, single-player and/or multiplayer

Add the ability to create your own F1 car liveries. I believe that that would be a very welcome addition.

Also, Formula E. The new cars look so cool and really good to drive. Please add Formula E in next year.

Finally, add new podium celebrations please. I think they have been the same since 2016.

Okay first thing first I have been playing since 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 is my next stop. I play F1 cause I love the driving I've legit not completed even a single season in the career mode. I build my own season by selecting the races and Racing it out with no car issues in Grand Prix mode. (Everyone has their own preference some like the Spectacle, some love the Engineering, some love the Realism of a long season and the impact it has on your Car. I love what F1 was earlier, Come with An essentially New Car Every Race New Engine for Each Day heck even for Each Session at time's so that's what i do)

I've put in a collective 1200 hour's between all the 3 games.


When I think of what F1 should do to enhance the experience for ME (Personally Speaking) I think about Forza they have this thing called AUTOVISTA / FORZAVISTA where the car is placed in front of you and you can hover all around the car with a Commentary about the Car, Its Engineering stats, New Innovations, Design Philosophy, Manufacturing Processes, Achievements till Date. You can even open up the parts. Essentially a Museum for the car’s.


This is Formula 1 The Pinnacle of Motorsport. An Engineering Slugfest Where Legends are Built with Cutting Edge Tech with the sole purpose of Bleeding Record Breaking Performance and most of all Beating Everyone to the Top of the Podium. If any Sport deserves its own Museum its Formula 1 so yeah give it A DIGITAL MUSEUM in the Form of F1 2019 but not only for the Season of 2019 but for Formula 1 as a whole. Let there be cars from the 1950’s 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s 2000’s (cause previously it was just rich guy’s in cars showing off while enjoying thrills of the fanciest toys they owned in a massive EGO Measuring contest. It arguably still is ; ) and show me how this Race Bred Technology evolved and how this Sport changed not only the world of Motorsports but also everyday road car’s itself. Which car’s were the Most Impactful which were Most Successful (not always the same thing) Which F1 Car helped create the Legends we Adore, Respect and Despise (you know you hate a few Champions). What was the Secret Sauce behind these Car’s. Who all Collaborated in Building these Fine Speed Goddesses. (History remembers the Racer, the Team, the Manufacturer and Gordon Murray but what about other’s. CODEMASTERS have the opportunity to retell History so might as well Honor those who made us Love this sport in the first place)

Let it be Educational

Let it be Beautiful (make the Car Models with mind blowing detail so in years to come people will appreciate it in VR)

Make it Interactive (let me drive the car ; ) too much to ask ? I know getting it to work with accurate amount of physics will not be an easy job but it'll be worth it.

For an added level of detail add a group pic of the Team responsible for building the car on the garage wall, and maybe even have one of them even do the voice over for the car (this will be the hardest but it’s just a suggestion)


Same thing with the Tracks give me a run Down of it over the Years.

When did the Gran Prix start

Standard stat’s Distance, number of turn (and their ACTUAL name), average speed, unique feature of the the track

Weather conditions the track is known for

Who won it over the years

Major Events (crash, rain,great overtake, great comeback from far behind) at the race

What changes were made to the track.

And let me test it out (obviously some tracks will not be playable with current gen car’s. But then again this is a game right? We gamer’s love a good challenge ; )



Codie’s have had the right’s since 2009 right? So why not let us race cars from all those season’s i know this is probably asked of you guys alot but I would be more inclined to a career mode with this rather than just the same car every year.


There are many tracks that were new but have not been revisited since (India, South Korea, Nurburgring, soon to be Malaysia) let us have fun at these track’s as well.


Split screen co/op

Custom liveries for all cars (example ferrari can have 5-7 different liveries for 2019 version alone example ferrari had 2 liveries for 2018 season. red bull has a pre testing livery)

Let us make and share our own liveries


Build your own team is coming we know it, mobile already has it so pc gets it next year that's simple Elementary moving on


The new FOM has allowed you to put in your own team. these guy's are better than Bernie in that aspect at least ( more race's in the US? that too street circuits? seriously?) convince them to let you have better damage models and animations
and make them cool as hell with ridiculous amount of particle effects and slow motion and free camera mode.

So to summarise it all up


Autovista version of Classic Legendary Cars (maybe even New Current gen one’s)

Commentary about Car Performance Stats, Engineering Innovation, Race Achievements, Driver List

Let us Drive it


Trackista (it's a cool name)version of Classic Tracks

When did it start

Trivia about the track (major event, great comebacks, crashes)  

Track revision (and why) like why was Parabolica’s runoff messed with?

I will buy all of these DLC’s guaranteed. Not instantly if priced high but yeah i’ll still buy them all. Heck if you make it a NEW DLC every year say season 2019 at say 30$ then another 30$ for 2020 I’d buy it without a moment's loss rest assured as I've already invested a considerable amount of time in it. And now it's more car’s to play with on all these tracks i've already got. So new lap record on them all? Hell yeah!!


Anyway I'm still buying f1 2019 so yeah. Some fan service here?

I think the game would be a lot better with a historic career mode or development of historic cars mainly the 1970’s cars and add some more cars from 1976 and 1975 like a lot more and have it so you can develop them in a historic career mode based in 1976 or 1975
