F1 2018 Sound Stutters

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I bought F1 2018 today having had to give up on 2017 due to the audio stutters I was having in that game.

Unbelievably, as I started up F1 2018 I heard the same stutters in the game menus and then continuing through into the game itself, in all modes. Basically, every couple of seconds there is a micro pause in the sound that repeats constantly. It sometimes stops for 10 seconds and then comes back.

I have an i7 7700k at 5.1GHz, a GTX1080Ti 32GB RAM and a Sound Blaster Z sound card (the issue happens if I switch to my motherboard on board audio too).

I have run the benchmark and frame rates are from 105 up to 130 and the graphics run smooth without stutters. It is just the audio. I have left the visual settings at default, changed them to ultra, low - it doesn't matter, it still happens. I have changed the audio settings too to low, medium and high. Makes no difference.

I had this exact issue in 2017 which was introduced after one of the later updates and never fixed. It has clearly been brought over to 2018 in some way. I appreciate there may need to be some tweaks with the set up I have but to be clear this issue has only ever occurred in the F1 games. Everything else runs really well.

Can you please let me know what is being done about this? I see other threads mentioning similar issues and remember this being a problem with 2017 in a number of threads. If it cannot be resolved I will be asking for a refund I'm afraid. The game is currently unplayable.

Thanks

I think it's a disgrace that this has not been replied to since I posted.

I see that we are on version 1.08 and the first two posts in the release note comments on Steam mention "audio stutter" - what is going on guys? This a long known issue on 2017 and now 2018.

I have been trying to troubleshoot things myself. I have managed to change the stutter behaviour by playing with the monitor and graphics card refresh rates but it doesn't fix it, just seems to change how regularly and severely it occurs. As I said in my first post, this is the only game where I have ever had this issue and I'm clearly not alone in having it if you look at the discussions on the first page on this board.

I would have thought the least someone could do would be to reply and actually look to address this.

Well the first response from customer support covers the solutions already available in this forum. I have tried them all.

The fact they have included audio settings in the game this year after last year's mess is a sign that they are unable to identify or fix the issue. It is game breakingly bad.
