dani211212 328 Posted November 11, 2018 Great, the list of Cars seems to be like Dirt 4, with few new additions.. Dirt 4 had 55 Cars, minus Landrush (3) vehicle = 52 In first Stream Show, they said there will be Crosscar RX, Super 1600 RX , Rx Lite and Supercars Rx I assume there will be similar number of Cars (pretty sure there will be changes on RX roster from Dirt4) per these classes, so that leavesRX Group B Cars out (-4)so we are now on 48. + Vw GTi 16v + 911Rgt + Camaro GT4.R+ C3 R5= 52 (Escort will likley replace Mk2 from Dirt4)so there wont be that much more room for some new addition (execpt they remove some of cars that where in Dirt4). Dirt Rally 2 will be between 51 and 55 cars..
SkyRex 417 Posted November 11, 2018 Does anyone know the Rally America reglement? How does it compare to FIA R5? The car I would really love is the WRX STI driven by Higgins in Rally America, and CM always had a seemingly good standing with Subaru. But it probably wouldn't fit into any class, would it? I'm not sure about Rally America, but the American Rally Association regulations permit larger engines and turbo restrictors than the R5 class, so it is my assumption that the Vermont cars would be comparable to an R5 in pace. But i dont know if we will have the Mitsubishi R5 again, since the project has been shut down...Maybe the new Proton Iriz R5 that will be homologated in December and as been prepaired in the UK... Who knows? The Mitsubishi Mirage R5 has been shut down? Mitsubishi chose not to homologate it internationally, but it is still allowed to race in certain national championships and teams like mPart still provide new cars and support, I believe. warpengage 177 Posted November 11, 2018 I have a feeling the modern selection of cars, R2, R4, RGT, R5, will be quite excellent this time around. If we think about DiRT 4 and what we already know is coming to DiRT Rally 2.0, the only cars I'd like to see left are the Peugeot 208 R2 (glaring omission on the R2 class) and, of course, the Skoda Fabia R5. As for RGT, I welcome whatever they bring!
KingOfCoins 286 Posted November 12, 2018 With Oliver Solberg being involved with the game, I could see the 208 R2 being a possibility.

I'm not sure about Rally America, but the American Rally Association regulations permit larger engines and turbo restrictors than the R5 class, so it is my assumption that the Vermont cars would be comparable to an R5 in pace. Well, I don't know everything, but I have gathered some info over the years. First there is not a official Group (R, N, S) class. We use:(from RallyAmerica 2018 rulebook)There are two vehicle Categories; some have separate Classes within themOPEN - Open, Super Production, Open Light, Group 2, Group 5PRODUCTION - BSpecOpen (Open) cars can have up to 5100cc engines, turbos (w/34mm restrictor), antilag, etc. EXAMPLE: Ken Block runs a R5 MSport Fiesta, when in America he will go with a 2.0ltr engine and some minor spec changes, but the car needs very little change to meet Open class specs from an R5Open (SuperProduction) - this is very close to a direct equivalent of a Group N car.Open (Group 2) - 2WD Super Production equivalent Open (Group 5) 2WD Open equivalent (RGT equivalent?)American Rally Association is in its 2nd year, its mostly based on RA from what I know of. Higgins Subaru at one time was pushing 400+ hp in 2013 (this was from one of the mechanics) when competing agains Ken Block's R5 - I would assume that he was doing something similar in the 2.0ltr engine since they where both on pace with each other. However this did not make the cars run like a 2017 WRC car with 380hp! I think at STPR (rally in Pennsylvania) they can push 130mph in some sections, but that has been tamed by the so-called "Higgins" rule, where they were required to reduce the restrictor size and add ballast to the car, bringing the car speeds down a bit. I don't believe the acceleration is not as fast as a WRC17 car either. So, after all this, where would I put it in DR2.0? I would just make it a R5 spec car and wink at the performance specs a little to keep with the R5 performance. After all, cars can be modified to fit various classes, if needed. I do recall that a VT15 car's rear suspension is not at all compliant with the R5 category, since they where supposed to run it at the RallyGB a few years back and then just went to the GoupN STI. SRT USA doesn't compete anymore in Rally America anymore but in the ARA as @tbtstt mentions. https://www.americanrallyassociation.org/2018-rulesI remember DiRT 3 had the "open" class. So such a thing could come back, but i have no idea which cars should be in it. Maybe with some R4 or R5 with some balancing.I followed "launch control" a bit during the season, but it seems that the SRT USA team almost had no competition apart from a Fiesta WRC who sometimes had speed. The SRT USA Open spec Impreza seemed to be quite faster that the R4 from Seehorn. The car is difficult to compare to lack of competition, comparable cars (WRC / R5) and american stages. I think maybe a bit quicker than an R5 on more flowing stages, but slower on technical stages.

Having had a quick glance at the regulations I'd say they are above R5 as well. I really like what SRT USA are doing (and their cars), but their success in rally is perhaps a little hollow when you look at the competition they have faced over the years.
