DiRT Rally 2.0 Confirmed Car List

Am I the only one disappointed and confused that there is a Citroen DS in the game? Hardly a famous and legendary rally car, compared with how many others they could’ve included!
I had to disagree and for once I don't complain. I am just so incredible happy this car is in. A rare rallycar and something we haven't seen a million times. Good to see Codies got to license this one. It'll probably one of those cars I'll drive by far the most and since I am a fan of PSA, it fits right into my street.

Slightly. Would have preferred the Saab for the class but I guess that hasn't been possible and it needed something new in it, not a bad shout IMO (most other famous 60s cars are RWD - but that's a debate about class structure).

Though any slot that is a rally car and not an RX is a win in my book as it means I will actually drive it at some point (I'll give the odd RX car a go but I doubt all of them).

By the way, top job keeping the thread up to date at speed today @tbtstt

I both agree and disagree with you: I disagree in that it was a successful car of the era and, given that there weren't many in that class for DiRT 4 I think it's good it's being expanded...

...but ultimately I agree with you because there are many other rally cars I think are more deserving of inclusion.

Whenever I read replies to official CM posts on Facebook (I know, I should know better right?) I see a comment which confuses me every time: "same cars every time".

Now, there are some that I don't think fit particularly well and could do without (see the Evo VI), but of the 35 odd cars on the first page,

Datsun 240Z
DS 21
Porsche 997
Ford Mustang RGT
Chevrolet Camaro
VW Polo R5
Citroen C3 R5
Audi S1 RX
Renault Megane RX
are all completely new...

Audi S1 E2 is new to this franchise, but was in D4...

Polo RX, Escort MkII are new models...

...and that's before the Skoda Fabia R5 has been confirmed

That's a third of the cars we've seen so far which are new, and probably around 20% of the launch content. I really don't get people sometimes...

I love the Citroen ds inclusion. It offers an exciting addition to the rather tired historic fwd class.
What other cars could fit in historic fwd? I'm not that well versed in that era
Realistically, not many. If it were the "60s" class a la DR1, there'd be loads, but a lot of 60s rally cars were RWD. The Saab 96 would be the obvious standout as that was the main contemporary FWD to those listed.

As long as there is a balance of content and not some bean counter making out of touch decisions, we will be ok.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the old DR1 locations, but I want to see new ones as well.  I wouldn’t feel really compelled to purchase DOC if it were all stuff that’s been previously released.   I will buy it because I have asked for DLC since DR1 and it will be nice to see the old stuff updated.

However it will be a bit of a let down and feel like I will just be purchasing content again that I already own.

If this ends up being the case that they get a lot of complaints the DLC will fail to sell.  It will solidify there previous thinking that no one will purchase DLC.  They need to make the DLC worthy and not just a gimmick.

I have confidence that they will.

Yeah, when i saw the DS, i was like, hmm, ok, well, i don't know it, but sure, it's another older/starter car, also, isn't it 70's class?

I'm glad they're release new cars for the base game, i don't mind previous cars or tracks released in DLC, i'm thinking they might be remodelled some as well as basically additional content under the new driving models.

I'm OK with that too, although the amount of RX content makes me hesitant (at least 50% of cars I believe). However, I can imagine the reception to it in the more 'casual' community beyond this board will be less than positive, compared to if some of these new models had been held back for them. Still, I'm not complaining!

DS 21 is likely a 60s version, first rallied in the mid-60s.

that enough Datsun 240Z for ya?

(also, the R4 Impreza is missing from the OP)
I'm still not convinced.

I wasn't able to get near a computer last night and editing the original list on my phone is a pain, but the list has now updated! (and a couple of typos fixed)

That brings us to 38 now, would be helpful to know where in "over 50" cars our total is going to get to: is it closer to 51 or 59?

If we consider the Mustang as in (it's mentioned all over the place), the 037, the four 'usual' Group B suspects, two S1600 RX cars to make a full class, then we're at 46...

With the DS and the C3 both new and confirmed, maybe the monster is a possibility...

Yeah, assuming 46 as the total gives us a nice gap to fill. By monster I assume you are thinking the same "monster" that appeared in The Crew 2?...
