UK / Wales stages in DR2 ?

Recommended Posts

Very pleased to see the new international stages in DR2, not sure that the USA is needed, not renowned for its interest in Rallying, its all NASCAR, Drag racing and Indy nonsense over there !
I have not seen any mention of UK / Wales stages ? Can someone confirm that these new countries are in addition to what was there in DR1 ?

DR 2.0 will feature New Zealand, Autralia, Spain, Poland, Argentina and the USA at launch, nothing more.

you could have been a littel more tactful in that US statement, but whatever.Makes it more appealing ,as its a huge market potential for Codies over here in the US.

For the love of God ! what are they thinking ? The UK is the home of Rallying, especially Wales. Dump the USA and get the Wales stages back in. Beggars belief !

Been involved in Rallying all my life, never noticed any significant interest in it from the States.

Whilst I'm surprised that they've completely discarded DR1's superb stages thus far, let's wait and see what the DLC plans are; it's been hinted some DR1 locations may return.

Lets hope so Rodger, seems like absolute madness to exclude the UK, surely the best market for Codies. Can't believe Monte is out, crazy !

I'm all for new locations, good news indeed but some bizarre choices, I would suggest keep Wales and  expand the UK stages to the Keilder and Grisdale forrest complex's. Include some Scottish and Irish locations. Finland and Monte must be keepers. USA and Argentina... really !?

I'd prefer getting some fresh stages instead of retreading the same old locations every single rally game. The world of rallying is much bigger than the WRC

and yes Argentina. Monte and Finland can easily be replaced with other rallies with similar characteristics.

Also, I agree on some Irish/Manx tarmac. We need more of that

Totally agree with fresh stages but I think Codies are shooting themselvs in the foot excluding UK.  An all tarmac Manx would be awesome. The UK should be the core of it and USA, Argentina etc offerd as DLC if demand exists. I see it as a deal breaker for many.

Wales is one of, if not, my favorite locations in DR. That being said, I'm against such a UK centered game. DiRT is not the official BRC game and it's aiming for a global audience. Varied locations, all around the world, are a must right on the base product.

Fair enough but why exclude UK ?

They're not excluding UK. We've had Wales in DR and D4, maybe it's time for something else.

Why include it? It's a great rally, but there are many other great forest rallies out there that deserve a chance at the spotlight. It may also be a licensing issue or they may be working hard to make the location even better. Everyone has favorite events, but I'm willing to give all of them a shot.

Really wonder why they put USA in there again, like... who wanted that? Same goes for Spain and Aussie, surely add those as DLC or something.

All three of those were also in Dirt 4 and we didn't really get to enjoy them at the same level as the DR1 stages, so I'm glad we'll get to. Did you see the Spain and Poland footage from the latest stream? Both looked great to me (and hopefully are only half the kilometres in those locations at minimum).

I think there's always someone in the corner of meetings at Codemasters saying "don't forget the US market" because some of that content does feel a little out of place (see also Camaro and Mustang rally cars in the RGT class), but I'm up for expanding my rally horizons. Check out some footage from Lake Superior Performance Rally on YouTube and tell me you don't want to try those stages with a 911 or an R5 car.

This is my biggest gripe with DR 2.0 so far. Inappropriate cars (for rally) is something we haven't seen since DiRT 2, like you say I wonder if these are in to pander to a particular market.

Weirdly enough, because I didn't expect to be, I'm quite excited by the concept. I think it's because I keep hoping the RGT class will take off properly in real life and so it's exciting to see what it 'could' be to me. And a competitive RWD class is what the real rally world is missing most at the moment IMO.

Aside from the obvious Porsche and the Abarth, there are several others I'd like to see in the class based on GT4 cars (Nissan 370Z, BMW M4) which would be more appropriate than the big US cars, but as long as they treat them as they are in real life (competitive on tarmac, terrible on loose) then I hope they develop it further.

Surely Wales UK and Finland Thousand lakes are a MUST for any serious Rally Sim ? Two events that hold up as the very foundations of the long history and DNA of timed trials and point to point Motor Rally.

Maybe they leave a door open to add the stages from DR on PC with a little trick...
It took some time but a least they gave a hint how to use selfmade liveries on D4...

@LutzM
That won't be possible, they'll have made some big changes to the stages and the way they're run. Road deformation, driving to marshals, different weather options, weather-dependent spectator models (maybe) - all variables that the DR1 stages wouldn't have.
