I hope this guy is right, and DR2.0 plays more like Dirt 4. Because I finally played Dirt 4.

Oh boy, It fills me with so much sadness to inform you that real rally drivers and their mechanic's actual knowledge about 4x4 car setup is way beyond of what your limited realm of cognitive abilities may allow you to understand under minimum acceptable levels of clairvoyance.
And yes, they usually drive a scooter motorcycle to move around the shakedown area. But it is not like the one you drive along the pavement at all.

I'm not talking about car setup though. I'll quite happily admit I know next to nothing about that in reality. I'm talking about car movement and handling alone. It's way off in DR and D4, and you're delusional if you think otherwise.

You have just said in all directions that actuall rally drivers share your ultimate knowledge on  scoot.., sorry 4x4 cars setup, and now you say the complete opposite thing in less than the twenty seconds it took you to reply. You must be so busy
In all seriousness now man, I'm starting to believe you think you are all that

I was under the impression we were talking about car movement and feel in general, not just setups... sorry for misunderstanding I guess? My knowledge of car setups is limited to the virtual world, and only the virtual world. Just to make things clear. All I meant was that no amount of adjusting can make the tarmac feel (nor look) even remotely realistic.
And no, I am most definitely not "all that". I am quite tame in comparison to most.

Damn, did you eat a dictionary for breakfast?

I thought there were improvements in handling (specifically 4WD and FWD) in DiRT 4 - most notably in the rallycross - but, although some 4WD rally classes (particularly the R5's) felt more natural, others didn't. Most notably I would say the Group A cars, most of which didn't feel as good as they did in DR1.

The prolonged testing from so many community members and experienced drivers makes me hopeful DR2.0 will be more consistent across the board. I got the impression (perhaps wrongly) that D4 seemed a bit rushed at the end, so I am hoping that there has been time to address everything this time.

Like it!

For the record, I think your observations on the previous page are pretty spot on - that's what I was trying to say on page 1, but you explained it better.

Dirt Rally 1 didn't feel like driving, it felt more like 'guiding' the car.
No punt intended, but that's how a car should be at high speed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujYfSxttWkU

Some complain it drive on ice, but never really managed to make 2 360.

In videogame you can't feel the G. With grippy tires, one sad movement = snap harder.

Did you seriously just base your argument on a video of a street car losing control due to black ice?

Roadcars, yes. Especially when their ride height allows for a short person to take a stroll underneath it, and when there is black ice involved like in your clip.
Cars in rally spec specifically setup to go fast, however... not so much. How high are you?

Historic cars without the slightest aero on them do tend to lift a bit at high speed and become a bit floaty and unresponsive. Not like a road car though obviously.

Ride height of a car change nothing when you slide on ice. The SUV had no traction & there's hardly any body roll from the 2X360 spin. You can talk about suspension geometry & all how setup whatever... Doesn't change anything. you spin, you spin from not having traction.

Even with winter tires at 60MPH on very snowy surface with AWD(you know the symmetrical one) you can't really keep the car going straight. You tap the brake(you know like 13~16%) the car understeer & plow straight. Although it's easy to yaw the car off throttle & use the throttle to use the front traction to prevent yaw from the rotational inertia.

I also did do indoor karting at -40C, when the tires are cold, forget about brake after the long high speed straight(crazy change in respond under braking)... You 3X360 spin like Mario Kart when you get hit by that turtle shell. That's the result from a light weight thing & sudden change in response.

There's plenty of onboard rally POV. play them in slow motion. ;)

Indoor Karting at - 40? I guess they did a pretty terrible job when insulating  B)

Rallycross in dirt rally is way to easy. The cars respond to the throttle as if they have just 100 hp. It should be much more about throttle control to get the best out if the car. The only thing changed in dirt4 it is even more easy so even more unrealistic.
