The Formula 1 Stuff Thread

Yeah not a fan at all. Reminds me of a cross between Virgin Racing and McLaren.
Agreed. Though, in hindsight we should have seen this coming. The primary color for Haas is red, but even with their technical alliance with Ferrari, there was no way they were going all red, or any other color for that matter it seems.

Definitely comes across to me as a fairly average livery. It's not ugly, but it's not good looking either. It's the kind of thing where say you were playing on Forza and decided to do a paint job on the Lotus F1 car in the game, you'd get halfway through before realising it's just not working and then you'd just chuck some shapes on there and call it done. Ta daaah, Haas F1 livery just made on Forza.

Cool video from Merc from a pretty sweet helmet cam.

A lot of people on Twitter have picked up on how McLaren didn't do their usual launch of "this car is going to change F1" and "we intend to dominate Formula 1 with this car". We know that this year's car isn't going to be winning anything, or even getting any podiums on outright pace. But it makes you wonder if they know something we don't already. Or they've just learnt from previous years experience of not building up unrealistic expectations.

As for Mercedes' you could've covered up the airbox and told me it was the W06 and I would have believed you. However the airbox is a giveaway that quite a lot has changed under the skin of that car, especially in terms of packaging.

My guess would be the Haas is either going to be predominantly white or red. It's almost an unwritten rule of F1 that only Ferrari are allowed a full red livery, so maybe white with the red for the Haas logos and sponsors. Maybe something like the 2011 HRT, except it will have sponsors.
Oh btw, from 2 months ago. Just call me Mystic Seb.

Haas have released a couple of videos of Grosjean lapping Barcelona and I have to say, the car sounds a lot louder than the ones did last year.
No link to the videos? :p What sort of motorsport journo are you? ;)

Speaking of videos, Ferrari stickering up their car. The more I look at it, the better looking it gets. The packaging at the rear is just awesome :)

You can really tell this is the first full James Allison Ferrari. Aero all the way down the car is visually more sophisticated.

Only hope it lives up to the hype that they're giving it. When they did that engine fire up video it sounded like the engine was knocking a bit, which can be sorted, but I hope they've not gone too over the top in looking for engine performance. Reliability is going to be a major factor this season with 21 races to run.

The Red Bull Looks awesome on track, I was a bit skeptical with the livery. Their aero looks great too per usual; but especially in their side pods. If they engine is up to speed they should challenge.

Ferrari look's like they made A LOT of improvements, hopefully they actually did; the packaging at the back looks fantastic. Mercedes looks basically the same except for the air box, I'm sure they did a lot under the engine, it just doesn't look like it. But I guess if you're that far clear of the field you don't need to do too much.

When Toro Rosso announced they weren't going to run a livery for this test I had unrealistic expectations that the car would be naked carbon fibre. As a result this is a disappointment.

On the other hand though, just look at that rear end packaging.
