Jiggy
At one hand, that makes me laugh because Ron Dennis literally screwed everything up and in F1, I find great pleasure in his misfortune. However, I am not a fan of McLaren too and this might mean they'll come back to the top. If you thought Hamilton-fans were bad, McLaren-fans are a whole another level. However, it's spearheaded by Alonso instead of Hamilton or Button, so it might not be that bad. For the good of the sport, we'd need them and especially Alonso back at the top though, so in the end, I hope this is a move that will end up with us seeing a championship battle that includes Alonso and McLaren. Beautifully fitting though, considering the number of careers he's unceremoniously ended during his tenure. The man made a lot of enemies and it's come back to bite him. For that, I can't really feel an ounce of sorrow. But the F1 world will miss big personalities' such as his in the sport.

I have this "Ron Dennis was a prick, but he was my prick"-atttitude around him. You just need someone who you don't like in order to get that bit of negative energy out of your system. Who am I going to target now? Sam Collins? He's a disgrace to the afro.
Moderator f1since08 Posted November 25, 2016 Author Moderator Share Posted November 25, 2016 Remember the idiotic idea of having all safety car periods end with a standing start? Well it's happened. Moderator MBKF1 Posted November 25, 2016 Moderator Share Posted November 25, 2016 Ugh, I thought F1 was getting past all this gimmicky stuff? Clearly not.It will add to the spectacle, without a doubt, but at somewhere like Monaco where a first lap clash is extremely likely, it will just be awful. It just augments the possibility of another accident, which will bring out another safety car, which will lead to another accident on the restart, so another safety car, etc.Get Ross Brawn in charge quickly, please. I've just done an article on it and worked out that in Brazil they would have done four standing starts. That will play havoc with the clutch designs. And I brought this up when it was touted last time round. What happens if there is an aborted start? Or the leader's clutch fails and he is stranded at the front of the field? In the wet, that could cause a Spa 98 scenario.

Erm.... at the start of the race day they do at least one (normally two or three) practice starts in the pit lane, and then one off the grid for the formation lap, as well as the one for the actual race start. We also see every weekend teams doing several practice starts over the course of a practice session. The clutch isn't incapable of being used for more than one standing start a day. Mercedes clutches are, recently if there has been an aborted start they overheat the clutch and it goes horribly wrong.
