Criticism from a guy on a random message-board that Wolff most likely isn't going to read isn't exactly the same as that from co-drivers and even former team-mates completely blasting Jorda on Twitter though. And even with those new FIA Super License regs, that's still not going to stop someone like Jorda from landing a developmental role.

I'm also not a fan of the new Super License regulations, but that's a whole another argument.

Why not? New super license regs are to make sure drivers earn thier way to the top and talent is prioritised over money which can only be good for the sport.

Under the system that is run, drivers such as Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Button (to name a few) would never have made their debut when they did under the super license points system that exists now. Using equivelant series of course to what exists nowadays.

It's quite ironic actually out of the 9 drivers on the grid this year who wouldn't have made it with this regulation in place, 4 of them became world champion and 6 of them are race winners. Two of them are only making their debut this year, so we can't judge them yet. So that just leaves Ericcson as the only current driver on the grid who you could say this regulation would've been suitable for in the quest for looking for "talent over money".

It's a regulation that has good intentions but hasn't really been thought through.

I don't like the points system. Some racing classes are completely discredited, like the DTM, where it doesn't matter how well you've done, you won't get in. That hurts someone like Pascal Wehrlein, Mercedes AMG's current reserve driver. Other racing classes like the World Series by Renault are now suddenly devalued to the same level as GP3, while I believe lots of people think that the WSR is at a higher level than the GP2 even and by a great deal too. Also the rule that you need to be 18 years minimum suggests that everything surrounding these new regs are incredibly reactionary and flawed and it'll look worse if Max Verstappen, the guy who caused it, beats his WSR-champion teammate Carlos Sainz Jr., which imo is a real possibility it could happen.

The drivers who most recently are considered to be pay drivers like Maldonado, Perez, Nasri, Gutierrez and Ericsson did drive in the top of GP2. Maldonado is a GP2-champion even. So with the exception of Ericsson, they probably would've gotten in anyway. So to me, it seems like they took a sensitive situation and misused it to serve the interests of their own racing classes under the pretence of trying to stop pay-drivers or inexperienced drivers from entering F1.

It's probably because he got concussed and we now in 2015 that you don't screw around with concussions. Guessing that it's obviously left a bigger mark on Alonso than was originally thought if he's missing the first race. Maybe he became concussion prone after his crash, so they're not sending him out within 3 weeks in the unlikely event he crashes again, get concussed again and then ends up in real trouble.
