The fact that Dirt Rally 2.0 is a tribute to the amazing Colin McRae Rally 2.0, but this car isn't in the game makes me very disappointed.

In terms of physics, i'm going to be controversial and say I enjoyed Dirt 4 more than the floaty, weightless Dirt Rally physics. I honestly hope Dirt Rally 2.0 drives more like Dirt 4, but fixes the obvious issues that has been discussed in the physics thread multiple times, and from the looks of it, it seems to be the case as well.

Better than bringing the car back, it would be a marvel if Codemasters could license the Martini/Telefonica livery. I mean nothing stops us from modding the livery, but having it officially and thrown on a trailer would be awesome. Both companies still exist today so it should be easy to contact them. Now it depends wether or not the cost is worth it (probably not).

Keep in mind the 1999 livery was fitted in the Ford Focus 1999 in Colin McRae Rally Remaster, with the absence of the logos. There may be a case where beverage and tobacco brands present in games will raise the PG level, restricting the age to higher levels, which doesn't impact the sales that much but eitherway it's still a negative point. So having a partially completed livery would end up with people just modding it anyway.

That's why I'm asking myself if it's worth investing work hours on such livery or not, because this is something the community can do.

It's not in yet: confirmation that the 2001 Impreza is coming surely means that we can expect the Focus back as well!

(fingers crossed)

I have no idea how much that kind of license would cost, but it would indeed be fantastic to have the livery in the official game. I would rather have the Ford Focus than the livery though, because as you said, mods could bring us the livery anyway.

I'm crossing fingers with you , and if they bring it back, lets hope it drives better than in Dirt 4.

I would be already happy if it drives similar to DiRT Rally, better yet if it's improved on top of that.

I don't really agree with any of this. DiRT4 for me was amazing and much better than DiRT Rally. DiRT Rally and DiRT Rally 2.0 are spin-off's to the main DiRT series, so why should a spin-off be better? The spin-off series should and is good, but it shouldn't be better.

My personal view as to why the next DiRT video game being released at the end of this month, is because the last DiRT video game was DiRT4, released back in 2017. The DiRT video game released before DiRT4 was DiRT Rally, released back in 2016. That's why I personally feel that the next video game after DiRT4 is DiRT Rally 2.0, as it's more fair for the DiRT spin-off series of video games to have another release than the main release. I trust and I do hope that when DiRT Rally 2.0 has run it's course and it's time for another DiRT video game, that the next will be DiRT5.

Kind of similar to Forza and Forza Horizon. I get the main Forza series, but hate Horizon with a passion.

Got DiRT Rally, don't think that much of it, love DiRT 4 and will most likely get DiRT Rally 2.0 just because. With the announcement of WRC 8 for Sep, I'll see how that develops before deciding. Have steered clear of all previous WRC titles because they ain't Codies. No one does rally titles like them.

What's the fundamental difference between DiRT 4 and DiRT Rally, then? What makes DiRT 4 completely different from the Rally games?

Without reading any context for these questions, I'll just say what is on my head 🙂

DiRT as a series has to always be something that even the casual players can enjoy. r/dirtgame still insists that all casual players should play DiRT Rally and use hours to learn it, even though they wouldn't have that time or interest. It's definitely not close to being that different, but it seems to be the case that DiRT main games always have the option to do some casual arcade racing.

Like how DiRT 3 is still quite popular. It's fun arcade racing which you can play with your friends who know almost nothing about driving games 🙂
