Bug - Sound Cut out

I was racing in the Rally Cross career mode, 1st stage second race and when I crossed over the start line on the 2nd lap the sound cut out.  If the car engine rev meter reached max I could hear a slight gear grind but that was all the sound the game was making.  I had to restart to get the sounds back.

I had the same thing happen halfway through a career rally stage. After it cut out, all I could hear was a very faint whine. Restarting the game fixed it and it hasn't happened again so far.

I haven't been able to start anything career related, but I think it happened twice to me on the same rally stage in Australia. Yara-whatever Descent (circa 7km long; sorry I can't remember the name).

Sounds were all of a sudden very quiet. Menu music played (once I got to the end of the stage) however every time an incidental sound played (e.g. a click from changing an option) the music would cut out as well. Restarting the game fixed it for me until it occurred the second time.

I had the same issue yesterday but can't remember under which circumstance. All I was hearing was a kind of brief buffer sound from time to time. Restarting the game fixed the issue. Edit: The OP didn't mention the game, I'm talking about DiRT Rally 2.0 here.

I had this happen Driving the Ford Escort MK II in the middle of a New Zealand stage, sound cutout and all I could hear now and then was a pop sound, Operating system sounds worked fine though.

I managed to workaround the problem by re-plugging my headphones, which reset the auto-sensing jacks and the game picked up audio again, allowing me to continue my stage.

If you don't have auto-sensing jacks or USB headphones then you could also go into device manager and disable then re-enable the device for your soundcard.

Same problem here doing a shakedown in the second rally in career mode. Using 7.1 speakers.

Same here, audio seems to cut out at random times in career mode, maybe get 3 or 4 stages then it cuts out, only restarting game fixes it.

Try turning "Dynamic Range" to High in Audio Options (mine was set to low by default). Been playing all day without issues since i've switched that.

Hello, everytime I play Dirt4 after some races the sound cut off or became very low, there's a fix to it?

It happens only with cockpit view, if change to other view the sound returns and if you get back to cockpit view get very low.

My sound cut out in stage rally now. This is way more frustrating than it cutting out in rally cross. And of course, quitting out has negative consequences.

Just happened after a computer restart on first stage I tried. This has rendered the game unplayable now... The music after the fact (at stage-end) comes in, and during the rally when the sound cuts, you get a very (VERY) faint sound of gravel? while driving. Then the menus seem fine at stage end.

Please fix this, it is absolutely toasting my career.

I have had the same problem happen ones. Don't remember what I was doing in the game at that moment but I paused it and pressed alt+tab - this brought me to desktop and I changed my playback device to another one and then back to the one I was using. I pressed alt+tab again and the sound was there. I hope this fixes it for you if you encounter the problem again. There was no need for to restart the game. Haven't encountered the problem again yet.

There are NO solution! Dirt 2.0 sound issue. In Rally Mode one stage sound on, the next stage sound off. What is this???
Codemaster product are low quality!!

Regret buying them, same as F1 2018 can not read the situation on giving penalty in multiplayer mode.
