HELP - Cannot download Dirt Rally 2.0 from Disk.

Recommended Posts

I received the PC deluxe edition in the post this morning but cannot get the game downloaded from the Disk(s).

I have followed the install instructions and linked my code to steam etc. however, after the page in the launcher which asks whether I want any shortcuts, it just goes straight to finish. It does not download any files from the disk. It does not appear to be doing so in the background either. As it needs to tell me when to change disks, I imagine it should show progress within the launcher?

I have also followed the troubleshooting guidance provided in the Readme. I can manually download the files from the CD to my computer, so it is not a drive reader issue.

Of course, the files are on my computer now but not unpacked and organised in the correct format, so I still can’t start the game.

When inserting the CD, it does not auto run. I have to prompt it to open and run the launcher. Unsure if this may be relevant to the problem.

Any alternative would be greatly appreciated.

No I am at work now. Really hoping we can get some help before I get home this evening. I bought the Deluxe edition so I could play straight away, so I will be gutted if this means I cant.

Hello, same issue here with just the Day One Edition, here's what i tried so far, not working atm :

- Leaving steam, Windows+R, then "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -install 😧 considering the steam support solution avalaible here : https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382

- I dragged every files from the 4 CD's into a new folder on my desktop, and then tried to run it

- (EDIT) Tried to do the "Save and restore previous version of game...", not working

So maybe it's because the game didn't came out yet, and the pre-download is just working by download and not from CD, but that doesn't seem right because i was able to do it with F1 2013 and F1 2017 back in the day...

Still trying to figure this out, glad i'm not the only one on this situation. I can't manage to download it from my internet connexion since i bought it CD version. Would be nice to do it that way otherwise i'm going to be ****** of...

I also wasn't able of downloading through steam nor installing from disk after using my game code.

I then realized that there is the deluxe edition code AND the game code on the back of the manual. Have you entered both of these codes?

That was what fixed it for me

And then "activate a steam product", and enter your code. I'm afraid you don't have the same issue as i do.

I also have 44gb to DL but i'm not going to. I bought the disk/cd version of the game to be able to install directly the game and not downloading the whole thing. I don't see the point selling the physical version of the game with 4 CD just to have to DL it from the beginning... Also you may have 22gb of game update i read somewhere.

Once you have activated both steam codes (Game & Deluxe content) you then need to run the installer from Disk. It should now download the content on the first disk.

You will then be prompted to use disk 2. Remove disk one and replace with 2. Then click “ok”. Wait a short time and it will download the disk 2 content. Repeat for Disks 3 & 4. It will complete with approximately 25GB/45GB.

The remaining 20GB has to be downloaded directly on steam. I don’t understand why, it’s a bit odd but that’s how it is.

Thanks, but do you have the deluxe version? Because i have the Day One edition and this is probably why i can't download it other than by steam download and not from CD. I hope tomorrow at the day one release i can be able to install it from the CD... There is no explanation about pre-downloading from Codemaster and that's a shame...

Yes i have the Deluxe edition. I think you may have to wait until the game goes live on steam before you can download properly?

FIXED IT! PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THE PHYSICAL BUY OF YOUR GAME INSTEAD OF DOWNLOADING THE WHOLE THING!

Export all of the datas of your 4 CD's, but take the 4 "sku.sis" files apart on other files, so as my screenshoot show, one file with all the data from the 4 CD's + sku.sis from CD 1 - then a file for sku.sis CD 2 - sku file CD 3 - sku.sis CD 4

image.png.a4b2ea24cfd517863b9965ccf6a046a4.png

Then, go to steam, upper left corner, Steam, Save or restore a game..., select the file where all of your data is (in my case the DiRTRally2.0 file), then continue.

The game will start to be installed, and when they will ask to switch with CD 2, just take away the sku.sis from DiRTRally2.0 file and replace it with the sku.sis from the "sku2" file, then same process for CD3=sku3 and CD4=sku4

It will download around 20 out of the 44gigas to download, far from perfect but it's something.

Hope this helped, if not or you are struggling just ask me.

I want to thank Codemaster for their incredible help toward this problem and the fact that my wheel is not recognize, all this for nothing i guess?
