Am I the Only One Forgetting to Check Tyres?

Recommended Posts

Exactly like the thread titles says, am I the only who keeps forgetting to check tyres at service?

I was doing the R5 weekly challenge last night (and actually not doing too badly). I had some minor repairs to do at service, clicked for those, clicked continue... and then realised I hadn't changed my tyres.

By the time I got a couple more stages in, my tyres were absolutely knackered and I lost a silly amount of time sliding into the scenery!

I need CM to patch in a big flashing arrow by the "tyres" option in the service pack so I don't keep missing it!

I keep remembering, but only because I'm not in autopilot mode yet and I keep needing to work out how to do repairs. I agree that it does need some sort of prompt or highlight to check you use it. Do you know if there's a prompt for repairing damage (I'm scared to click 'start' in case there isn't!)?

What are the rules for tyre changes on longer rallies?

Same problem here, most of the time in last weeks challenge was on killed tyres! 🤦‍♂️

Well given it seems I am not the only one, I have requested the addition of an earlier warning in the suggestions part of the forum!

Yeah, you get a little icon when there is damage to repair and you do get the same icon when the tyres are absolutely dead: but I think that tyre warning needs to pop up sooner!

I think it is good like it is.

I don't want a helping hand everywhere, just get used to check the tires every 2-3 stages.

If they add it, I want an option to turn it off.

i would like in time trials especially if it put on the best tyres for that event by default. often soft tyres yield better times.yet it wont recommend them. on time trial single stage it doesnt really matter too much.

Is it posible, that in the last R5 weekly the setup couldn't be changed during the services, just repairs on the car and tyre-changing were allowed??!!

Wanted to change my gears and couldn't,same in the AI-weekly with the Escort MkII.

you have to pay for the configuration package of your car to be able to do it

One more amazing detail with tires - if you get puncture at the end of the stage and there is no service before next stage - puncture caries over to next stage, so it`s better to fix it right when you get it!

In DR I always tried to limp with puncture til end of the stage, because in next one puncture was fixed even without service area!

What state did your tires show at the end? So far I've seen only 'new' and 'used'. Also, what compound did you use and roughly how long did it take to kill the tires?

Most of the time I remember to check them, but sometimes I forget.

Not too happy with the system too. What I saw people complaining about in DR1 was that it should have tyre choices such as more tarmaccy or more gravelly tyres on mixed stages, but all you get in DR2 is some broad grip vs. durability. And I find that pretty useless as I apparently have to choose the hard ones anyway--with medium tyres I have great grip during the first stage but on the second one already it's like driving on ice. Actually I'd rather get rid of it all and have DR1's "system" back than the current state.

Maybe in weekly events?

But i custom championship (or, regular online if you like) I get new tire(s) after the stage, regardless if I have spare tyres or not.

Tyres are the first thing I check in Service.

A question however, does the tyre wear graphic change further based on how worn the tyres are? I've only ever seen it at Used with about 20% of the tyre image cut down.

Can't remember the wording, but the compound was medium!
