Small thing, but still annoys me

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Does it annoy anyone else that whenever you complete a stage, your car gets cleaned automatically? Like theres not even an option. Dirt 4 it lets you decide to clean the car or not, Its a VERY small detail. But Having a Realism focus for Dirt 2.0, why would you remove that feature? It just looks Unrealistic if anything, the AI having all banged up and dirty cars, and i'm there all nice and clean. As if I was never in the previous rounds.

Suppose this can become the thread of all small annoying things.

Let us have the speedo/tack HUD in cockpit view.  The most comfortable position for me is closer to the windshield which cuts out the instrument cluster. While I don’t stare at the panel, it would be nice to have something somewhat visible for occasional reference.

While we’re on the subject of views, I’ve run the Fulvia and the A110, and the furthest forward in cockpit cam I can manage in the A110 is halfway from the back seat.  Not the case for the Fulvia.  Why the stark difference, and what happened to the dash cam.  And I’m not referring to the center positioned exterior windshield view.  Curious to see what the other cars are like eventually.

Still can’t turn on headlights until the stage starts.  Considering most of the time we’re driving in dusk/dawn conditions, let us have more flexibility to turn on the lights. It’s like the racing committee in-game banned touching your light switch until the green light. And make them more luminous please.  Way to dim.

Same with wipers; don’t need that random swipe when it’s clear and dry.  If I have them set to full manual I don’t want them ‘automatically’ turned on to intermittent every stage.

It annoys me slightly that after crossing the finish line the game takes only partial control of just my brakes.  I can steer towards the marshall, I can rev the engine, but the car slows to a walking pace all by itself.

Then when I reach the marshall if it is flat or downhill the car won't stop by itself.  The brakes seem to be automatically applied but the car just keeps rolling.  Then I have to find reverse and run his toes over.

It should be either like dirt 4 or dirt rally.  Instead we have a semi-auto very irritating finish to every stage.

I used to have an Eagle Talon where the wipers turned themselves on whenever I was driving too fast and hit a bump in the road.  The lever pulled downwards to turn them on.  A small pothole at 60mph would pop them on low speed.  A frost heave at 90mph would get them onto high speed lol.  Whenever this happens in the game I always remember that old car.

Deactivate Time Control in the game assists window.

Thanks!  I will do that now.  I had no idea that was what that setting is for.  Are there instructions for this game?  It seems like when I highlight a setting a brief on-screen description would be a big help.  It's definitely a big help to get my questions answered here in the meantime.

Such instructions existed in DR1, it's just a matter of time they implement it here.

so who exactly tests these games before release, a blind man with a dog? Cos that's what DR2.0 is turning out to be, a total mess

Small annoyances, eh? No leaderboard in career. No 3D car view outside of event. No 'H-pattern OR sequential' option.

If he had a dog the game wouldn't be so bad.

There is H pattern and sequential. Just not together. That option was in DR1 but it never worked.

You can disable auto time control braking. It's set to 5 by default, but setting it to zero gives you complete control of the car over the line.

That option was in DR1 and it worked perfectly. Dirt 4 was the one that had the option but didn't work correctly.

Maybe its my setup then. I actually tried it last night. Only sequential works. If i want h pattern I have to change it to h pattern only.

Are you 100% sure it's on "Manual Sequential or H-pattern with clutch"? Also, I suppose this goes without saying, but you understand that it doesn't let you use H-pattern on sequential cars and vice-versa, right? It isn't meant to be a "use whichever one you want" option.

Yea thats what it was on. I guess it could have been the car I was in. Ill have to experiment more. I've always just selected one or the other. I have paddles, an actual sequential, and H Pattern so it depends what I'm in the mood for and how fast I really want to be.

Yeah, so it doesn't work that way. What it's intended for is choosing the option (sequential or h-pattern) automatically based on what the car really has. So an R5 car would be sequential and a Mk2 Escort would be H-pattern, for example. That way you're always getting the "authentic" experience.

No it really isn’t. You’re just one of those people that moans about everything.

Yeah i wonder why they changed it to this.

I liked the addition in D4, and it worked fine as it was i think. 😅

Edit: see there's an option for it in game.

Well, there are some things that really annoys me:

-I'm doing an event on the MkII Escort, but, which cars do I see crashed? The C4 and Fabia WRC... It's not just the fact that they are already in the game, from launch, but that I'm doing an event on a H2 class car, why should I see a WRC car?

-Car classes: They are far from reality, i.e. the 240Z, the Stratos and the Renault 5 should be in the same class as the MkII Escort, the 131 Abarth and the Kadett, as they are Group 4 cars, while the A110 should be on the same class as Fulvia and Mini, as it was commonly used in rallying as a Group 2 car. I would like a little more of "reality" on this aspect.

Game doesn't play off in Group 4 era but in modern day. Historical cars are grouped by power to weight ratio. If you ever played the first DiRT Rally you'd know the A110 would be completely OP as well as the Kadett.
