DiRT Rally 2.0 - Car Inaccuracies

The thing I noticed with the 206 is the driver moves his hand down towards the gear stick when changing gear but the 206 had a paddle-shift style gearbox 👍🏻

Yep noticed that aswell, really off putting when driving, Codemasters have the same thing done with the fabia, camera is very close to the wheel also, be nice to be able to put the seat back further

Peugeot 206 Rally (WRC) has No Bang-bang / Anti-Lag (ALS) exhaust sounds, also missing exhaust flames

Dashboard got disgusting low quality texture map:

And the headlights ... lot of missing inner details:

@mesa I was thinking the same, but if you watch videos of the evo version (2002/2003) almost lost that huge backfiring als characteristic (maybe on the introduction of more electronic ignitions/valve anti lag management?)

for example the 206 we usually see at RallyLegend in S.Marino (the one backfiring like crazy) i’m Pretty sure it’s a 6 speed year 1999/2000 (one of the first model)

On the dash and headlights I agree...

idk all of 206 WRCs i ever seen has got huge amount of blueish backfire flames and loud bangs... here's nothing - even the audio volumes set wrong who knows... I hope Codemasters will correct it

I found another bug: the texture is missing from its seats. There's no cover texture just plain dark seats shells look at 00:02 here

Yeah even if it’s based on the last 206 evo model, anyway he need flames and backfire (one of the characteristics of this car) right now it’s too clean on releases...

One of the details I always hoping for and I love it’s the red glowing exhaust,in particular on this high temperatures turbocharged+als rally cars...

i love that detail...idk why 🙂

i imagine the Focus ‘07 with that single pipe huge exhaust....all red glowing 💕

I find it quite odd because in this video, there are clear turbo/backfire sounds but no one else seems to be getting them. Seems like it's the same for the Golf. @CM_Ads?

i found another strange things with the Golf...

Driver/co-driver name stickers are missing on the side windows:
missing_name-stickers.thumb.jpg.afcbed081e56c951d3f978c174cd226e.jpg

Specular map (Main_s.tga.dds) is not exactly the same as the body map (Main_d.tga.dds) there's a light pixels "halo" effect around all the stickers:
wrong-speccmap1.thumb.jpg.bd71027958503aff0c5804382277ecb1.jpg

Another example:
wrong-speccmap2.thumb.jpg.89d6247e52e4c09fd6b0cde33b2e3ea0.jpg

i used to duplicate all the sticker's layers in PS, merge them into one and copy and paste onto specular map then i used to select "Overlay color" in PS to fill with the right specular color - in this case all the pixels mach compare to main_d

I think also the Golf ingame uses only 4 bolts for the rims, while the real version seems to use 5.

Interesting spot: seem to be images with both 5 and 4 stud hubs on Google?

Question: most cars in the game have their speedometer in mph. Is this accurate for rally and rallycross cars?

Nope...in real life it’s pretty much the opposite lol...the majority of cars in the rally scene are in km/h

Nice to see that most of the issues from early in this thread have been addressed now...

Thought I'd round up all the outstanding items reported so far in a single post:

Rallycross - Supercars:

Volkswagen Polo R - Incorrect engine orientation (details here)
Peugeot 208 - Lowest ride height not low enough (details here
Peugeot 208 - Peugeot-Hansen team liveries incorrect (details here)

Rally - Group A:

Subaru Impreza - Additional headlights (night stage) incorrectly positioned

Rally - R5:

Skoda Fabia R5 - Lowest ride height not low enough (details here)

Rally - Group B:

Ford RS200 - Boost pressure needle disappearing (details here)

Rally - 2000cc:

Subaru Impreza (2008) - Additional headlights (night stage) incorrectly positioned (details here)
Ford Focus (2007) - Dash display not working (details here)
Peugeot 206 - Incorrect compressor stall audio and lack of banging (details here)

Some trivial points, but might save the devs a bit of time trawling through the outstanding items people have posted thus far!

NB: I haven't posted the gear selection animation issue in the Fabia and 206 as that has already been addressed.

ALS sound in general too weak in this game. WRC 8 does this job better.
ALS is one of the loudest sound what a rally car does with exhaust pop. You can hear it clearly from the most far distance in a forest before you hear the exhaust or the engine sound
Dirt Rally 2.0 the engine sound is the loudest, doesn't matter the car is in opposite for the camera and getting closer or goes by

Sorry, could have been clearer there: they don't have an animation for gear selection on the steering wheel*, so its not a "mistake" as such.

* yet: hopefully it is coming!

And yeah, I'd like an option for much louder exhaust pops as well @mesa

No mudflaps for Skoda Fabia R5 for wet weather  - strange that AI cars has got them... It may be a configuration bug only - then easy to fix it

There is another thing that is there since the release,an audio bug/miss:

both Fabia and Polo r5 are missing (i don’t even know how to call it in English) the sound of the engine when the car/tires power slide...that vibrations sound that all the cars in game have as well in real life...it’s very distinctive and I don’t know if it’s caused by the diff. working or just the attrition in general...

that sound it’s a real nice touch by Codies for the immersion, but both cars missing that detail...it’s a shame.

Are you talking about when you lock up the brakes and you hear the center diff clattering?
