DR2.0 Crashing - Unplayable

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I bought the Deluxe version from Amazon and installed it last week. Not been able to play the game yet as it constantly crashes when the stage of choice is selected. I get the error message " DR2.0 Executable has stopped working, your computer is low on memory" I can't believe this to be the case, its a custom built gaming rig, getting on a bit now I admit but should handle it. Here is my rig spec.

Asus Z87 Pro motherboard.  Core i7 4770K CPU.  8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 RAM @ 1866 mhz.  Samsung Evo 1TB SSD.  GTX 980ti SC GPU. Dell 32 inch 4K monitor at 3840 x 2160. Win 7/64.

Not tried anything challenging yet, all I am trying to do is take the Mk2 Escort out for a test drive in NZ !

Your thoughts and advice for a fix for this would be welcome.

Cheers.

8GB is a bit too short nowadays for gaming. Don't forget that there's other applications and the operating system eating ram as well. You should get another 8gb stick to make it 16gb and you'll be fine. I'm running 16GB DDR3 1600mhz, same CPU same motherboard but ASRock version, GTX 770 and 1080p and i haven't come across low memory errors.

Yeah but nonetheless it's 64bit, so there's really no problem there. It supports higher ram installations. I think the problem here is the single 8gb stick. The OS and background apps will take around 3GB so that will only leave 5GB of ram for the game which is short for 1080P, let alone for 4K.

Yeah memory is key. Always room for more on PC as long as funds allow.

The seemingly never ending requirement to upgrade components to allow games to be played properly only on PC makes it more amaxing that consoles can get pretty close to this with no major upgrade to when they came out, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro notwithstanding.

8gb is recommended by codies themselves. Also it's plenty, I used to game on 4gb until a few months ago and that was fine too - played DiRT 4 with it.
