DiRT Rally 2.0 - v1.3 - found a bug? Post it here!

Small bug:  One of the R2 Fiesta liveries actually still has the sun strip problem, sorry I thought ALL were fixed initially.  It is the 2nd white livery with GENESIS written  on it, no doubt why it was skipped from a quick fix.

@Riggs for your attention

Small bug: this keeps happening sometimes, I finish a stage with no damage on my car, but when I load into the next stage the car suddenly has a dent in its bonnet. it's usually cosmetic damage but it's a little bit annoying.

That's from when you run over the marshal.

Poor translation in Polish still present.

Wanted to write it down here, but...

For God sake, Codies, do your fc...n' job or just hire someone who speaks Polish, IDK.

I'm also wondering, how height difference on certain stages works. For example, there is stage in Argentina 2.84 km long with over 600 meters difference, which gives over 20% camber average. It's insane! And also I dont' feel it ingame if it's sooo sooo much. So maybe it's total difference between lowest and highest point on the map? But there's a stage in USA which is ZERO, but it's definitely not that flat. I've also noticed, that this parameter differs between the same Monte Carlo stages in DR1 and DR2. I'd be also nice to bring us back +/- sign, to know if stage is generally uphill or downhill. I see no reason it was removed, IMO it was good, did someone complained about it?

Yeah, the Polish translation is pretty bad. I had to guess what some expressions meant and it's still in bad shape after the patches. At least spelling errors have been corrected, but "used" cars are still translated as "wykorzystano", which actually means "taken advantage of". 🙂

As for the track information, I miss the exact percentages of Ice, Snow and Asphalt in Monte Carlo. It would make tyre selection much easier.

None of the three bugs I reported has been removed.

- The sound has more blackouts than when the update 1.2.1.!

- Lancia Stratos has a levitating mirror.

- Mitsubishi Space Star R5 the New Zealand flashes mirror driver.

Hi!

DiRT Rally 2.0 v1.3 releases at 11am (BST) today, and with that, RaceNet will go down for maintenance, so please make sure you're not playing the game when 11am comes around, as it could compromise event times etc. being uploaded to the server. We're expecting RaceNet to be up and running by 12pm BST!

Here's what patch 1.3 contains:

-          Grip and floating car issues off the starting line now resolved

-          New achievements/trophies added for Season One: ‘On Thin Ice’ (Complete a clean stage in Monte Carlo), ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ (Drive 66km at Monte Carlo in the DS 21), ‘To all those who doubted...’ (Get a podium in the Citroën C4 Rally), ‘Kickin’ 80s Vibe’ (Complete your first Event in the BMW M1 Procar Rally)

-          The achievement/trophy “Fire Up That Car... Again” has had its unlock criteria modified

-          Prevention for audio cut-out improved

-          Added Jon Armstrong’s 2019 Galway International Rally livery

-          New engine audio for BMW M1 Procar and Peugeot 208 T16 R5

-          Fixed non-English translations of in-game text

-          Retiring no longer counts as completing the stage or event, and will no longer cause trophies to pop

-          Returning to the service area in Rallycross Community Events or AI Challenges will take players to service area and not leave the event

-          Spectating in bumper cam will now show other drivers in custom online events

-          Improvements to co-driver calls in specific call outs, across multiple locations

-          Leaderboards are now available after non-Time Trial races

-          Improvements to visual quality on some cars

-          Corner cuts across certain areas (reset lines and rough terrain) are now prevented

-          Stability improvements throughout title

Noticed anything slip through the cracks? Let us know right here.

Thanks!

Jenny

Sound cut off still there PC Steam, but thanks for working on all that bugy stuff, It is a shame to take the full amount with such a performance as the expectations of the Dirt Rally players were very high. It should have highest priority to fix the errors as soon as possible. The game itself is very neat but the many little things annoy pretty strong, something you do not expect from Codemasters. Its playable and looks good but you coud do better for this price.

Good luck and work hard.

-- PATCH v1.3 Bug List --

Based on v1.3's changelog and taking note of the fixes it brings, here's the updated bug list reported in the v1.2 thread, which represents all the bugs that still need fixing

1. The problem with dark stages and no visibility has been poorly resolved and now the cockpit of the car is completely dark and some stages over-exposed. HDR needs to be fixed for good, no matter how much time it takes. Headlights also have nearly no effect in dark zones (such as New Zealand forests, Australia forests and Monte Carlo's tunnel). Happens specially in Sunset/Dusk times. There are also cases where brightness goes totally dark in the surface and after exiting the forest area it comes back to its right brightness value.

(https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=411207 and https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/178-dirty-gossip-thread/?do=findComment&comment=409909 and https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415484 )

2. Some cars' headlights lack proper glass texture opacity and some of them lack proper mirroring texture within the bulb case (Lancer VI for example) ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35466-whats-wrong-with-dr-20-cars/?do=findComment&comment=406760 )

3. Tyre wear is too forgiving at the moment, making any choice besides Soft and Wet nonsense. Tyre wear, at least on softs, needs to be improved so that it wears way faster than it currently does, so that Medium and Hard compounds are a viable choice whenever there are bigger stages. And if possible, make it so that tyre wear rates also depend on how you drive (if you push harder, higher speed and higher sliding will cause the tyres to wear faster). ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35154-tyre-life-and-running-order/ )

4. There are a few details missing from tail lights when the lights are on and brakes applied ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35466-whats-wrong-with-dr-20-cars/?do=findComment&comment=407285 )

5. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI lacks halogen lights during night stages. The game only places the 2 in the front bumper, but it lacks the set on the bonnet. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/34816-dirt-rally-20-v11-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=408600 )

6. There's no mention on these patch notes about AI scoring irregular points in the My Team career. Not sure if this also happens on custom events. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/34816-dirt-rally-20-v11-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=408152 )

7. After a stage when you're in the service then go to the main menu and back again in the service, the tyres you used lose their used condition and just display as "New".

8. Some materials while in wet conditions seem to lack proper roughness, making them extra shiny and bland ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/34816-dirt-rally-20-v11-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=407693 )

9. Running order seems to be class dependent. Example: Group A will never start 1st on the running order regardless if they lead the entire rally, and not just the class, making the running order and track degradation a bit shady. There's also the issue where the championship leader will start cleaning the first stage of the event (correct), except if you are on another class other than R5, but then if you lead the rally once again you don't get the best order position for the best grip. Not sure how you're gonna do it, but something needs to be done about this, as older classes get 90% of the time rutted stages. Working as intended.

10. Splash VFX and SFX are missing when passing through a splash (New England stages). Fixed in patch v1.2.1 - v1.3.

11. PS4|PS4 Pro - Rain drops are pitch white during night when lighted by the headlights. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409302 )

12. There are more reports of stuttering since v1.2, which didn't exist before. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35684-stuttering-since-update-12/ ) NOTE: Confirmed on v1.3 ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36317-dirt-rally-20-v13-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=416018 )

13. Some co-pilot pacenotes are not given in custom multiplayer races. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409334 ) Fixed in patch v1.3.

14. PS4|Xbox One|Xbox One S - blurry graphics, unable to turn off TAA, low resolution textures overall, faulty HDR and unable to adjust FOV.

15. Rally events are appearing twice in the same career championship, omitting one rally ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=410026 )

16. There's a set of graphic bugs on PC Steam version v1.2 (still to confirm in consoles) while in headcam, objects levitating, seeing through car panels, etc ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409819 and https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415454 )

17. Xbox One|Xbox One X - Screen tearing and black screens problems on Xbox One and Xbox One X ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409736 )

18. Some buggy UI graphics overlaying during Car Setup (can't confirm platform) ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409572 ) NOTE: Needs confirmation if this still happens in v1.3

19. Buggy dialog box showing code instead of text concerning insufficient funds to repair car damage in the main menu ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409684 ) NOTE: Needs confirmation if this still happens in v1.3

20. To get the trophy "watch the delta" and "living the dream" you have to buy the Group A and B cars that are already included in the Deluxe Edition.

21. Despite the 7th rally being added to the game (Monte Carlo), championships only have 6 events. Should get adjusted as locations get added. NOTE: Needs confirmation.

22. During replay, tyres are squealing on snow/ice/gravel surfaces like if it was tarmac. This happens when track degradation is OFF. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36042-next-patch/?do=findComment&comment=415800 )

23. Wipers remain automatic even after being disabled in the settings. Fixed in patch v1.3.

24. Invisible object collisions in Monte Carlo near the wall (trees) ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=411526 )

25. In Monte Carlo rally, when you go to the service area after you finish a stage, the ground floor is black like if it was missing a texture (i'll make sure to get a screenshot on this one soon, it happened to me on a GTX 770 with the latest nvidia driver) NOTE: Needs confirmation.

26. When overwriting a setup it resets its name instead of keeping the old name. Fixed in patch v1.3.

27. Rev counter analog display is upside down in the Mk1 Golf ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=412114 ) Working as intended.

28. We are unable to scroll up to the top or down to the bottom in the leaderboards right after finishing the stage ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=412353 ) NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.3.

29. There's reports that "Unexpected Moments" stop appearing after a certain time spent in career.

30. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - There's reports of Modern Classics achievement not unlocking.

31. Argentinian flag flickers in one of the argentinian stages ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=412905 )

32. If you don't take spare tyres and have a puncture in a stage, the tyre will still get repaired on the next one. Happening in Custom Multiplayer Events. This used to work before, at least in My Team, before v1.2. Should this be restricted to My Team mode only, it needs to be implement in Custom Events as well.

33. We can't change the Penalty Times parameter while setting up a Custom Event. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=414541 )

34. On custom events stage results, the penalty time does not account for the service penalty time (when applied) and therefore will give misleading stage times. Example: Player 1 had a service penalty time, but his stage time shows as if he didn't get a penalty at all. Basically there's no track of this penalty and there's no certainty to the other players in the session wether this penalty has been applied or not. Bug confirmed yesterday while playing with some friends.

35. "Tune Vehicle" option in service area not appearing in My Team Online Events unless returning to service area from main menu.

36. Sound cutting bug is still present.

37. Spanish co-driver call is incorrect in Poland stage "Lejno" and "Zienki". Should say "izquierda uno" (left one) and not "derecha uno" (right one) ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36317-dirt-rally-20-v13-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415733 )

38. The portuguese translation or "Clear" weather is wrong, it should say "Céu Limpo" or simply "Limpo" and not "Limpar". "Limpar" is used as "to clean", and "limpo" alone makes no sense because that's just not how we use the verbs, we say it's "clear" like "sky clear", which doesnt make sense in english but that's the way it is in PT-PT and PT-BR. Eitherway, rather have it shown as "Limpo" than "Limpar". ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36317-dirt-rally-20-v13-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415813 )

39. Career leaderboards seem to be working but now Time-Trial doesn't seem to be accepting new times. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36317-dirt-rally-20-v13-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415855 )

40. When selecting recommended repairs in a service area, components out of view stay on 'no fix' unless you scroll down to view and reselect recommended repairs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be updating the list as some of the bugs get confirmation and as any new ones arise.

Comparing to the previous list, there were 47 items in the list and we're now down to 34, with the possibility of this number to go even further down if any of the bugs needing confirmation are ironed out (watch out for stroked lines). Overall this reveals a pretty good job in this patch, considering the timeframe and the severity of the bugs that were fixed. There were also a couple of bugs added to this list, that weren't present in v1.2's list yet, although they existed.

If any of the remaining bugs, specially the ones with the red note, happen to you in v1.3 please post here. It would also be nice if anyone would help with some of these bugs confirmations.

@Riggs, i think you can update #14. Probably still not perfect for everyone, but at least in my PS4 Pro, the bluriness is gone, much better and enjoyable... Thanks for the time spent, building this list mate...

Windshield rain effects (droplets on the windshield) seem totally broken. They appear around the edges of the wiper contact area, but never within it. You can leave the wipers totally off and there will never be any raindrops, only the general muddy/dirty effect that appears after a couple of minutes of driving. This isn't specific to 1.3, I think it's been in the game since launch or close to it. Would like to see that finally fixed.

Just saying...in my opinion the only thing they have really done well in this patch it's the 208 r5 new sound.I was impressed (I follow rally a lot and I know very well the sound of the r5's) now it's incredibly close to the real one, it's a pleasure for the ears. I just hope they do the same upgrade also to Polo and Fabia r5 (they are so flat...)

Try the m1 😉 also what i really enjoyed is that the Chicane calls are now back as they were in DR1 (So chicane left entry instead of chicane right 1.)

Yeah, the watersplash effects were great in  dr1, really set it apart from the competition, it’s hard to believe that they are now virtually non-existent.

Regarding #21, the locations for career championships are still capped at 6. Codies haven’t responded to this (unless i’ve missed it?)  so maybe it’s not a bug and just a really baffling design choice?

And having read through this thread it does seem like another underwhelming patch, given the size of the issue log. The fix of blurriness of the ps4 pro was significant though so that’s something good for those guys. Not sure why it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes though, unless the standard “stability improvements throughout” is referring to to it? But they put that in all patch notes it seems so doesn’t confirm it.

Fixing the audio bug would have also been good, but that bug now seems even more prevalent 😩

I also haven’t seen a drone or retired car at the side of the road for about a month now.

keep up the good work though riggs, you’ve spent a lot of time capturing and documenting this stuff, quite a task it has proved to be.

oh, does the marshall have a collision box? I thought the game reset you to stationary when you are about to run him over.

It was a joke. I don't know why you have the bug if you're sure you're not hitting anything in the timing area.

@Pieman99  They improved the water splash effects in the patch, it's a really nice effect now.

6 locations per championship is definitely a design choice.  I also agree it is not a good design choice though.   I want to run 2 of the same event in a custom championship in a row to make up for the super short events (12 short stages),  I just start to get into a rally at stage 10 as they're so short and it's nearly over. 😛

They did fix a lot of smaller things in the patch, even the thing with not renaming setups when saving is welcome, showing vehicle damage on info screens, and showing the Leaderboards for career races is an awesome improvement.  Many more things were fixed/changed that aren't noted.

No bug, but it's really awkward to save your setup, then you have to rename it pressing button 7 (??). And when I load the setup, where is which setup is currently loaded.
That should be supplemented gladly

had a weird one yesterday. don't know what the hell happened, but I hit an object with the side of my car and it knocked out the headlights. the additional lamps had already been knocked off, so this just affected the regular ones. they were still on, but not emitting any light!

this was on the Impreza NR4, livery from https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/ben-hunt-rally-new-zealand-2017.25465/

Just thought I would update this with a little more thorough/specific testing.

All stages (any country) with any rain weather pattern other than "heavy rain" have broken/missing windshield droplet effects. Rain/light rain/showers/light showers is missing the effect around the wiper contact area so you can drive without wipers on at all.

Also, the "heavy rain" droplet effect is really minor. The effect appears but the quantity of rain drops is light enough (and their "lifespan" short enough) that you can drive without wipers on without much issue. It should be like Dirt 4 where in "heavy rain" the windshield gets completely soaked and difficult to see through if you turn the wipers off.

Lastly, somewhat related, the water splash effect looks decent (on PC anyway) but the lifespan of the particles is too short. You literally don't need wipers at all because the droplets all fade away in like 1.5 seconds. In Dirt Rally you HAD to use the wipers or you'd be blind for a few seconds.

edit: Final point related to wipers - there's still that odd slow-motion automatic wipe that happens every minute or so. For one thing it shouldn't happen at all if manual windshield wipers option is turned on. For another, the animation is wrong, it shouldn't be slower than the normal wipe animation. It should just be exactly the same speed. If you flick them manually yourself they do move at the proper speed.

Same goes for the snow on the windshield in Monte Carlo, there's no accumulation of droplets, anything that hits the screen disappears after a second so there's also no reason to use wipers at all there. I assume the upcoming Sweden will be exactly the same. The dirt stages that are wet at least have mud that hits and sticks after a while so you may need to activate wipers briefly to clear, but yeah the rain drops themselves vanish on their own after a second, so the wipers are fairly meaningless for rain and snow.

Plus both the rain and snow fall effects themselves look extremely poor. Older games were far more convincing with weather all over. Not just from other devs like SMS's PCARS, but Codemasters own previous games. It's really bizarre that a modern game with graphical upgrades all over has worse weather visual effects than some 5-10+ year old releases and also the previous entries in the Dirt series. I don't know if the bug thread is the place to discuss the look of this specific stuff, but I would definitely say the fact that rain and snow hardly impacts visibility on the windscreen is a legit issue that needs to be fixed.

I can confirm:
 - when you go Off the track huge amount of FPS drops occours
 - The sound has more blackouts than when the update 1.2.1.! Before to restore sound was enough to
go back to main menu, now you need to restart game. This bug affects only internal cameras.

Also:
  - Wrong time in Poland 04:10, must be 16:10
  - complete video freeze for 1-4 sec. After you can hear bang and see some effect like lights going ahead of car.

GPU - GTX 960, latest nvidia drivers.

On Taylors farm sprint, the grid contact sound is not there on the replay, it's a really loud clang during the stage, and the evo X when hitting the gravel after a jump there is no contact sound.
