Patch 1.3 just landed and addresses a few key issues, but was (IMHO) largely superficial.

At the current rate we can expect patch 1.4 sometime in the next 3-4 weeks.

What do you think is essential, desirable or just a nicety?

YOU CAN CHOOSE MULTIPLE ITEMS PER SECTION!!!!

Update 3: After 10 days, quite a lot of new votes now and the results have shifted again...

A massive increase in demand for the FFB to be fixed. A FFB fix is now the clear leader being requested as essential for patch 1.4.

It really doesn't matter what matters to ME and what I think needs to be in the next patch. The only thing that matters is what's actually doable in a certain period of time that fixes as many issues as possible for as many people as possible.

Your new constructive approach is much better btw. Thumbs up for that 👍

Essential

  • Full FFB fix
  • AI re-balance
  • Tyre wear re-balance
  • Any and all Racenet fixes (including the complete removal of Racenet from the game)

Desirable

  • Time of Day options
  • Customizable events

Nicety

  • Another look at the dark areas, or rather, another look at the headlights not lighting up the dark areas in daytimes
  • Running order
  • HDR options on PC
  • Photomode
  • Ability to save replays (been hoping for this since DR1)

Agreed. Just read the patch notes...kinda disappointed TBH. Now we are waiting another 4-6 weeks 🙄

I respectfully disagree, the fanbase here and on other forums are generally the most passionate about the game and repeat consumers. Assuming the real game breaking bugs are also included as a priority, surely the RealFans™️ deserve to have their most vexing issues addressed first?

My approach has always been "constructive", it just hasn't always been as "pleasant".... for Codemasters 😂.

I do think WIP FFB testing should come in 1.4, I think it's fair enough to give people more insight as to what is going on with the FFB rework by that time.

I really hope lighting is fixed too, it's had a few improvements but the headlights still feel pretty weak.

My personal top-priorities are still the removal of the Racenet-requirement for the SP-Career, or at least a somewhat customizable offline-mode where money and car-upgrades can be earned, FFB-improvements, adjustments to the AI-Times and improvements to the performance (drops down to the 40s in certain parts isn´t fun; especially if you consider that VR should come at some point; in VR these drops would be an even bigger NO-GO). Other priorities would be support for Analogue-Handbrakes, automatic Gear-Selection and Steam-Workshop-Support.

I just needed to see where i was going and HDR quality on X1X really wasn't helping my cause. Kinda hoping that the issue would have been addressed (or at least have been given options to lower effects more towards the flat lighting of DR1) whilst DR2 was still on sale at £48 but judging by patch notes it appears that's not the case so i'll have to stick to mugging my son's PC for a little while longer..

All these F...ng polls...  Mate there's only a tiny section of DR2 players who visit this forum.. like 10-15 % max. so It would never be unbiased.

Otherwise Codies would have made polls themselves dont you think?  And they are aware of the problems u mention, what else do you want. Stop whining please.

A poll is never 100% representative, is it? 10-15% of a given population would be a massive sample size and be considered very representative indeed.

Dirt Rally 1 on the Xbox and PS4 had a certain Field of View (FoV).

This was changed in Dirt 4. It was increased, so the road looked narrower, and everything looked smaller. There was visible distortion of objects as you turned.

That FoV was retained for DR2.0. And we have no option to change (reduce) the FoV. Whereas this option is available for PC players.

This is the killer for me. It will remain the killer until that option is brought in for consoles.

It's an amazing game, but without this basic option, it will remain fundamentally compromised for players like me.

Why isn't hardcore damage in career an option though?  In other polls it is on 5th spot, and much higher when you consider already fixed items  "Additional customisation options in career (hardcore damage etc)"  it definitely needs to be added or the poll is just going to be skewed quite a bit.    Edit: And yeah while you can claim fully customizable career would contain that, it's not explicitly true and it may NOT. Also full customization unlike hardcore damage is a lot more effort and therefore a mostly different request to the developer.

What matters to me is a stutter free game that is optimized without dropping frames

everywhere.  Fluctuating between 143 and 60 FPS on lowest settings is unworthy of

the DiRT name...

DR is still more than 50% more efficient compared to DR2. Frametimes are also way too long,

and still spikes to 17ms or more every 10 seconds when the game is running "fine" after a PC restart.

Everything else can wait. The game needs to run smooth and stable.

Aye. To be honest I feel as if Dirt Rally 1 was better optimized when it was first released; in Early Access. Yes, there are some improvements to the game (some are very subjective though, like the more vivid colors; I personally liked the look of DR1 better), and yes, these improvements have an impact on performance/system requirements. But the performance can still only be described as subpar in my opinion. But don´t know if we will ever see improvements in that regard and have a game that runs as smooth as DR1. As I said before, if they want to implement VR at some point a HUGE performance-improvement should be among their top-priorities.

yea, I hate seeing hotlaps and streamers on youtube that drive in a way that if they applied it in real life they would'nt even make it to the end. Clipping wheels on edges of banks, locking tyres and banging the car sides into rocks should be punished. I just cant watch when i see someone slide into a tree at 120km/h and just maintain momentum and in some cases gain even more speed with just a scratch or cracked windshield.

Game looks so much easier than the first dirt game in comparison where going over some jumps could ripout your radiators.

It will be the same reason we didn't have hardcore damage in D:R, licencing. Some car makers don't want their cars to be smashed up in games, no matter how much we want it.

Actually no.  This is only restricted Career mode, we already have this damage outside career mode, also in career mode you can cause this very serious damage as well just with more force/hits.   Also , not the best thread to discuss this.

It's not designed to be unbiased, I don't give a **** what the unwashed masses out there want - I mostly care about what I want, followed by what other rally sim enthusiast want.

No, I don't think. CMs are extremely selective about what they engage in conversation about, so as not to commit to anything they actually have no intention of rectifying. They have not acknowledged the vast majority of issues/requests on this list.

You're just upset that the only issue you care about (graphics on PS4) isn't rating higher. Sorry about that. 😄

It's a valid request, but it it did not poll as high as you claim. It was 8th out of 13 options on RallyStu2's poll, and did not get bumped with issues being fix - not a single issue above 13th was rectified in patch 1.3.

No single list can be completely comprehensive, but I think you specific issue is adequately represented by "enhanced difficulty options" so feel free to use that to add your vote.

I've really not seen a lot of people complaining about fluctuating frame times, and it certainly doesn't affect all users universally like the rest of the options in this poll. While I am a sample size of one, I have always been able to achieve extremely consistent frametimes in DR 2.0 at all resolutions up to 4k Ultra.

I'm not saying there isn't a potential problem with the game, but it is more likely a specific hardware and/or driver incompatibility than simply poor optimisation, because otherwise that would manifest for everyone and not just you.

There is no doubt however that DR 1.0 was less demanding overall, not uncommon with a game that is four years older. These are my results when comparing the two games using the built-in benchmarking tool. This was before the 1.2 patch which increased DR 2.0 framerate a few percent.

4K Ultra (No MSAA) Min Max Av
DR 1.0 100.906197 165.680313 127.475784
DR 2.0 54.640930 84.661034 66.624481
4K High (No MSAA) Min Max Av
DR 1.0 112.406303 233.329025 150.762451
DR 2.0 95.686394 137.516159 111.181068
1440 Ultra (4xMSAA) Min Max Av
DR 1.0 105.214699 170.746277 132.534927
DR 2.0 65.908150 106.600952 84.345207

DR 1.0 116.063713 229.880936 147.476334
