I think Sweden looks much better than in DR I immediately saw that even without direct comparison but see for yourself

DR 2.0 has 6 locations (with new stages) that weren't in DR1. I simply cannot understand why some people keep saying it's recycled content and that it has less content than DR1.0...

Not to mention the recycled ones from DR1 have had such a masterpiece remake that they barely look like the same rallies. It's so much better, for a bargain. I wonder how it even pays off.

Il educate you then, 3 of them were in Dirt 4, so only 3 are original 😜

I understand your point, although i don't think it is a valid one... I haven't played D4, but as far as i know, D4 stages are randomly generated while those in 2.0 are pre-built, making them obviously different from D4. AFAIK, even if 3 DR2.0 locations where previously in D4, every stage is new, which in my perspective, makes DR2.0 a completly new game, content related...

I guess for DR3.0, CM should bring Burkina Faso, Brunei, Belarus, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Andorra so they can't be acused of recycling old content 😄

So, New Zealand was in Colin McRae Rally. Do we count that out as well then?

if a low budget game can afford to license the RS SC and the Toyota Celica GT4, then CM can

There is a reason we have no Toyota's in Codemasters games. In this case, no, CM really can't.

@Opassac well I guess for you DR2 is all original if you never played D4, but for those who have it’s not, yes they were generated but it’s essentially still the same, I mean even the devs must have known, ever wonder why they called it 2.0 instead of 2, food for thought lol this thread wasn’t meant for bashing the content as I’m ok with it, I was just throwing out there what I think they should add to it, my aggravation with this game is the issues still left unresolved

Your talking about a game from 2005?

Are we just arguing for the sake of arguing now or? 🙄

Not that a game from ‘05 would have any similarities to today’s standards in track development, even if they did feature NZ, the technology would change it vastly even if it was the exact same course from ‘05, not to mention you can’t really say something in a game from 14 years ago is anything close to a point worth making about reusing content, it can be redesigned sure lol reusing content from literally their previous 2 games is a different thing, but like I said I don’t mind that at all, I enjoy the remastered locations in fact, for me it’s the ratio of original and reused in 2.0, and like I said before, I think that’s why they called it 2.0 instead of 2

The game is named as a reminder of Colin McRae 2.0 one of the best rally games

The DiRT Rally 2.0 Steelbook will be available free with purchase from selected retailers, including Amazon in the UK and GameStop in Germany – but the exact details of availability will be confirmed shortly. The Steelbook design is a nod to Colin McRae Rally 2.0’s packaging, using the hallmark turquoise and minimalist lowercase font seen in stores 18 years ago. Codemasters’ Senior Graphic Designer, Dave Alcock, worked on the original design as well as the DiRT Rally 2.0 Steelbook: ‘I had an amazing sense of déjà vu using the same design features as we did back in the day, but it’s great to see it still holds up. The Steelbook design just looks as modern and sleek as it did back in 2000 – the screenshots look a lot better though!’

‘For us, using the same design principles as we did for Colin McRae Rally 2.0 felt like a natural fit,’ said Codemasters’ Product Manager, Matthew Beckett. ‘After all, the “2.0” of DiRT Rally 2.0 was on homage to the title of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 – and although the games have changed a lot since then, our raison d’être has remained the same: to represent rally racing as truthfully as possible. Using this design is a nostalgic tribute to one of our most-loved rally games, but also a promise to our community to deliver the same, white-knuckle experience that Colin McRae Rally 2.0 did all those years ago.’

sorry, but I played the **** out of D4 and while the locations look similar, virtually all of the roads and turns are different. the only recognizable ones are two in Spain (one of which is the hairpin halfway through the 14km stage).

also, you guys know that Michigan and New England are different places, right? the distance between them is the same as that between northeastern Italy and the Basque country. they just look similar in the game because it's autumn. the roads are all completely original, just as in Sweden, Australia and Spain.

my point is that NE and Michigan look the same, but don't contain any of the same roads. you might as well be comparing Sweden from DR 1 to Norway from D3.

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing that for me, I knew the steel book was as I got one for myself but I must have missed where it mentioned the title of the game was paying homage too

also arcade or not, I second that vote to have dirt 1 remastered, was great, now that’s how you do a career mode lol big trophy hunter too and it would be good to have the whole series of platinums, still I need to do Showdown though...

Not even sure why they’re doing RX content, other than its official so finishing the callendar is probably their aim, but the majority want the rally and they really should consider a season 3 of rally only content,

A to feed what the masses actually want

B to make a worthy apology for the broken mess we’ve had to deal with so far

C to finish with a substantial omount of original content

im ok with just season 2 as long as DR3 is on point, and I mean polished, really polished... and a decent amount of content at launch, like DR2.0 car list at the end of season 2, that amount at launch and 6 original locations like we’re used to, for dlc they could give us more cars and a return for Pikes Peak, with more than just 3 vehicles etc

Rallycross is in the game for the same reason that Pikes Peak was in DiRT Rally. Requests from forum members at the time when Codies asked us what we wanted to see in a rally sim. The reason why Pikes isn't in DiRT Rally 2.0 is because GT now the license, not Codemasters.

I see it exactly the same way
The USA and Spain in Dirt 4 are very different from the routing in DR 2.0
But I really like the USA Rally in Dirt Rally 2005 a bit better
I really like the rallies in Dirt 4

But

eh, rally games (and rallying) have never been popular in Canada. there is the Trois-Rivières RX event, but I didn't know it existed until I looked up what RX was all about after playing Dirt 4, even though I live just 2 hours away in Montreal.

so I haven't played any rally games older than Dirt 1, and I only played that in like 2013-2014

I really like the ones in D4 too 🙂

what's the point of a Dirt Rally 1 remaster if DR2.0 exists with almost the same cars, all the locations plus extras, and better physics?

don't bother with showdown. I paid like 3$ and it's not worth even that. you're honestly better off just playing Dirt 2 or 3 for 12 hours

I'm also looking for a remaster of older Colin McRae games that are a lot better than Dirt 2 and Dirt 3
For a remaster of CMR1 I'm not the game is just too old but wish me a remaster of Colin McRae Rally 2005 since you have: a career and championship mode and a great many cars

its from 1998 a little to old 😉
