Welcome to the new GRID

Recommended Posts

So, team. Anything interesting going on this week? 😉

Hey all - Chris here from the Community Team. It's an absolute pleasure to say that GRID returns with a brand new game, launching this September! http://www.codemasters.com/announcing-grid-coming-september-2019/

As the above news post covers, we're taking the essence and successes of the GRID franchise and bringing it into the modern day. Multiple disciplines and race styles to master; a stunning and broad selection of cars to tame; wheel-to-wheel racing across all corners of the globe. All that and much more is in that news post, including how we're partnering with a certain Spanish motor racing icon...

The new GRID trailer was also revealed yesterday on IGN - the world's largest specialist gaming publication: https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/05/21/grid-reveal-trailer

Some in-game screenshots are also doing the rounds; I've attached a couple of personal favourites to this post!

I'll be handling a lot of the community and social aspects of GRID, and will endeavour to be on the Forums as much as possible to help you guys with information, feedback and jumping on the hype train with you all. As someone who's been obsessed with this franchise ever since a young Nathan McKane rose from a troubled childhood to the top of the motor racing world, it's a massive honour to help you all enjoy the next iteration of the franchise. Having seen and played GRID for a while now, I'm certain it will live up to the name it holds - and then some.

Thank you. What are you most excited/interested about with the return of GRID? Let us know! 🙂

We need pit stops back! Was so much fun with online races and with mandatory pit stops back in the day!

What a weird decision to choose IGN... A big fail imo...

They may have 12 Million Subscribers but most videos have around 0,1-0,5% clicks from 12 Million... On YouTube this means this channel is very DEAD. They stream on Twitch too... Mostly 30-100 viewers 😄

You should choose a better platform next time... Maybe you will get videos with better quality of your games too ^^

@ChrisGrovesMCM How about an explanation why so less content (locations) and why no drift mode anymore ? 🙂

Maybe it'll be DLC 🙄

I agree 12 tracks is far too low but after 3 seasons i'd imagine that number is jumping up to 21 tracks.

Where did you guys read that there's no drift? It's not a mode I like but it'll be a bummer for those who do.

Also, locations can mean countries. That seriously opens up possibilities.

We just don't know enough about the game yet. It apparently features point-to-point racing but there's no specific location for it. It's just too early to be angry about the game, really...

We know exactly what we get at release/in the base game... Just click the link above your post and study the FACTS SHEET !

Hope the GT Class don't have the same tire degradation as Auto sport. For some people the tires degrade too easy on endurance.

It was a half baked system and endurance races were 8 mins long lol. Hopefully it's a bit more serious this time round while still staying in the simcade bracket.

Hi guys. Not so long time ago (actually, it is obvious) I got to know that new 'GRID' comes out (called just 'GRID', nothing else). It is really cool and I cannot wait when I will get it. In my opinion, both 'GRID 2' and 'GRID Autosport' were not as great as 'Racedriver GRID' so I hope the new game will be at least as great as 'Racedriver GRID'. If we start discussion about the upcoming game, I would like to share with my little proposition. What about adding spotter from 'GRID 1' (if possible)? I think that everyone who played 'GRID 1' will know who I mean (actually I didn't find his name so that also is why I ask). I also hope that Codies will not forget about the iconic car (At least in my opinion. And what do you think about it? You can share with your thoughts.), which is Ford Mustang Boss 302. There was no such Ford in 'GRID Autosport'. It would be really cool if they did menu like this one from 'GRID 1' or 'GRID 2'. Not such a minimalism like it is in 'GRID Autosport'. Personally, I didn't like the idea of putting a car on black background. This was a loss of racing climate. Much too stark. I would like to see good-looking damage model. Probably the best damage model was in G1. And one more thing, probably the most important. Let they make brand new circuits. Just think, would 'GRID' be good if they copied tracks from previous games like it is in 'GRID Autosport'? The quality is more important than the number of tracks (what doesn't mean that the game shouldn't have got satysfying number of tracks/locations). The same about DLC. Something completely new (you remember 'DiRT Rally 2.0' Season 1 so you know what I mean). We know that they plan to release 3 Seasons (!). I am interested in how big these Seasons will be. We will see.

Your opinion and comments are desirable. Thank you for being interested in what I wrote and published here on this forum. It might motivate me to be more active here. 🙂

Wishes!

I hope the driving is like in Autosport and not that imprecise and understeery like it was in the first Grid.

Codies have got lots of experience since that time so I would trust them. Yet they said that the driving model is going to be the balance between simulation and arcade (if I am not wrong).

Yeah we noticed that with the downgrade of the ffb from Dirt 4 > Dirt Rally 2.0 lool 😄

Tbh as i said in the other thread: Things are going downhill since Paul Coleman left Codemasters and old Codemasters that gave me 10 years of games i loved does not exist anymore... Now this is new Codemasters since Dirt Rally 2.0 and the games start to lack features, functions and content...

After I saw the first gameplay I already have a question:

Can you disable the engineer who is commentating the race? I hate that trend in racing games nowadays.

Game looks like a remake/reboot of the first game so far, wich is good, because I remember very well of the first game.

But I am very pessimistic at the moment, Codemasters release politics are very consumer unfriendly at the moment, not happy.

I assume the three dlc seasons will feature new tracks because there doesn't seem to be too many in the base game tbh.

If you chose maximum length races in Autosport the endurance races were 40 mins. Still not really endurence, but at least more than 8 mins xD

Tracks shouldn't be DLC only as this partitions the player base. Cars yes but tracks no.
