DiRT Rally 2.0, Version 1.5: Bug Reporting Thread

Hello everyone.

 

DiRT Rally 2.0 version 1.5 is available now and contains a number of features and bug fixes based on community feedback. Here is a short overview of what to expect:

 

  • Club support added to Freeplay.
  • Visual improvements made to rain effects.
  • Service Areas will appear correctly in Weekly and Monthly Challenges.
  • Monthly Challenge Leaderboards adjusted to show total Event times instead of individual Stage times.
  • Elite and Master AI difficulty adjusted in My Team Rally Events to provide a fairer transition upwards from Pro.
  • Start-line AI behaviour adjusted at Lohéac Bretagne circuit.
  • AI cars will now be washed after Rallycross races.
  • Notification added for when a player completes research on a car’s final engine upgrade in My Team.
  • Chase cameras adjusted to reduce camera clipping into roadside objects.
  • Non-English language co-driver volume increased.
  • Corrections to some non-English language co-driver calls.
  • General stability improvements and minor bug fixes.

 

The DiRT team is always on the look-out for any bugs or issues that arise as a result of updates, so if you have come across any please post them in here. Your contributions to previous threads have been very useful in helping the team plan not only for version 1.5 but additional updates in the future.

 

If you come across a bug or issue, it would be of great help if you posted the following information:

  • What platform you're playing on.
  • Whether you're a Standard Edition or Deluxe edition user.
  • Where the bug happened.
  • Have you been able to reproduce the bug?
  • If you have been able to reproduce the bug, post as clearly as possible the steps you went through to trigger it.
  • Screenshots or video would be nice too but a detailed description is often good enough.

Nothing major but the background noise custs off after a few seconds in the service area on PS4 now. Comes back when you start the race.

I’ve noticed the same background noise bug on Xbox not really a big problem though

So how do you set up/join a club? It says "go to dirtrally2.com/clubs/" but that doesn't work. There's only the DR2 promo page there. Also tried racenet.codemasters.com but neither DR1 nor 2 is even in the list of games to choose from.

The club site is currently experiencing heavy load, impacting performance.

There still seems to be wrong soft lock for certain cars if it’s intentional then obviously it’s not a bug but with no response on the issue I’ve no idea if it’s a bug! 

Escort cosworth,Sierra cosworth. Audi Quattro as far I can tell should have 720 not 900 degrees of roatation based on info on the web and previous dirt games

still a ranking bug, in the weekly and monthly event against AI, when we return to the main menu and we come back in the race, the ranking is wrong, all times are the same for everyone.

 

already announced in version 1.4 !!!!!!

-- PATCH v1.5.1 Bug List --

Based on v1.5's changelog and taking note of the fixes it brings, here's the updated bug list reported in the v1.4.1 thread, which represents all the bugs that still need fixing

 

Game Stability

CRITICAL

  1. There are reports of stuttering since v1.2, which didn't exist before, due to some Wheels (Logitech G27 and G29 were the ones reported so far) and other USB devices being connected.   2. A few players are getting their FPS reduced to 20 when going off-track.
  3. There's reports of the game crashing on Clubs for some players, when clicking "Continue" after completing a stage.

 

Lighting Department

CRITICAL

  1. The visibility during some stages in New Zealand and Australia is nearly null when played on Sunset or Dusk conditions and the headlights have no effect. This applies to any rally when run on Sunset/Dusk and sometimes cloudy weathers, headlights have no effect at all when turned on. There seems to be an under-exposure or shadow problem.

About lighting at night (click):

60 FPS -> Low-Medium settings. 28 FPS -> Maxed. Nearly no difference in the lighting range aspect, despite some more definition.

  1. Headlights are missing some glow+lens flare effect from DiRT4 at night when watching from outside. (DR2: 20190522190619_1.jpg | D4: 20190522184311_1.jpg )

 

Sound Department

CRITICAL

  1. Sound cuts off randomly during the stage and you either have to finish the stage to have the sound back in the next loading screen, or restart the game to get it solved.

MEDIUM

  1. During replay, tyres are squeaking on snow/ice/gravel surfaces like if it was tarmac. This happens when track degradation is OFF. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36042-next-patch/?do=findComment&comment=415800 )
  2. Engine sound is cutting out on replays, apparently only in Time Trials. Reported in an Xbox One X but might be extended to other platforms.
  3. There are occasions where ambient sounds and music are muted in the service area (while menu selection feedback sound and rain still works). Happens immediately upon selecting menu items e.g. option, tyres, tune, event details. Normal sounds resume after starting stage.

 

Graphics Department

CRITICAL

  1. Xbox One|Xbox One X - Screen tearing and black screens problems on Xbox One and Xbox One X ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409736 ) NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.5
  2. Some people are getting black snow for a few seconds in Sweden. It also happens on Australia's last sector of Mount Kaye Pass but it's not certain. There are some parts of some stages that flash either black or white like if lighting was adjusted. This bug has been here for a long time (at least for Australia), since the early patches. NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.5
  3.   5. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - Textures flicker black for fractions of seconds sometimes, can be related to bug #2. NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.5

MEDIUM

  1. Shadows are giving a weird low resolution stripe effect when seen from interior cameras. This is probably also responsible for creating this shadow grid effect in the track surface.   3. Xbox One|Xbox One S - blurry graphics, unable to turn off TAA. Probably due to hardware limitations.

LOW

Tyres System

CRITICAL

  1. After a stage when you're in the service then go to the main menu and back again in the service, the tyres you used lose their used condition and just display as "New".
  2. If you don't take spare tyres and have a puncture in a stage, the tyre will still get repaired in the next one. If you don't take spare tyres, the tyre shouldn't get repaired in the next stage. If you do take spare tyres, it should use one or more depending on how many tyres you have punctured and how many you have in the trunk. This used to work properly before patch v1.2.
  3. If you make a puncture after the finish line while driving to the marshall, that puncture won't get repaired in next stage regardless if you have spares available.
  4. There's an issue with tyres selection and saving. People are choosing Softs, but when they go back to service after they run the stages, it shows that Mediums were the one being used. MEDIUM

  1. Tyre wear seems to be too forgiving at the moment, making any choice besides Soft and Wet a bit irrelevant, and rendering the Hard compound useless. This is specially notory in My Team, where there's only 2 stages between services. Solution goes through increasing tyre wear rates on Softs, using current Softs wear rate on Mediums and Mediums' on Hards. This change needs to be thoroughly tested in a "hardcore" environment such as 4 stages in between services at least, in order to see results. This is classified as Medium priority since it is a game changer if properly tweaked and will surely improvement the rally experience for everyone.

 

Physics Department

CRITICAL

  1. Something weird happened with the physics when crashing one of the bridge pillars in Argentina ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rqN8ctZ71M )

 

Monte Carlo Rally

CRITICAL

The Monte Carlo rally stages could use a search for collision zones, as there are a few spots where players touch invisible objects and that ruins the stage for those people who like to take closer lines to the walls/barriers.

  1. There's invisible object collisions in Monte Carlo near the wall (trees) and some of the stone barriers (One example: https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=411526 )
  2. There's one or two iron barriers that have spectators on the outside. If you hit the barrier or drive close to it you don't hit the spectators, but the game will still reset you to the track. This is happening in one of the left iron rails in "Col de Turini - Descente" stage.
  3. Some zones that would otherwise retire you from the rally in DiRT Rally 1 if you slid off the mountain, now reset you to the track instead. Zones that you have no realistic way of coming back from (either because you simply cant come back to the stage, or if you happen to land in the road a few meters below the car would be trashed) should retire you definitely and not reset you to the track. Quick solution: re-introduce DR1's Monaco retirement zones. (Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpIlfNeHzlg )

 

Co-Driver Issues

CRITICAL

  1. A pacenote is missing in one of the Germany stages, "over crest, turn left", the "turn left isn't said. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/37295-dirt-rally-20-v14-found-a-bug-post-it-here-update-v141/?do=findComment&comment=427767 ) NOTE: Confirmed in v1.5.   2. Spanish co-driver call is incorrect in Poland stage "Lejno" and "Zienki". MEDIUM

User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX)

CRITICAL

  1. When selecting recommended repairs in a service area, components out of view stay on 'no fix' unless you scroll down to view and reselect recommended repairs. NOTE: Confirmed in v1.5. Intermittent issue, happened when attempted to repair a used GrpB Metro ( @KoAstR )

MEDIUM

  1. Penalty times obtained in the service sometimes shows doubled in the penalty time column in the stage's leaderboard results following that service. (Example: You get 01:30 penalty time in the service, the penalty time shown in the next stage is 03:00. However, the correct value (01:30) is still added to the stage time and so the overall time is correct). This bug isn't very coherent, because I've seen service penalty times of other players displaying correctly, while they see it doubled. So this might be a LocalPlayer display glitch.
  2. There's no UI information about each setting in the Settings menu, something that existed in previous D4 and DR1.

LOW

  1. The portuguese translation of "Clear" weather is wrong, it should say "Céu Limpo" or simply "Limpo" and not "Limpar". "Limpar" is used as "to clean", and "limpo" alone makes no sense because that's just not how we use the verbs, we say it's "clear" like "sky clear", which doesnt make sense in english but that's the way it is in PT-PT and PT-BR. Eitherway, rather have it shown as "Limpo" than "Limpar". ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/36317-dirt-rally-20-v13-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=415813 ) Also, the translation of Hard tires to Portuguese should be "Duro" and not "Dificil" like it's in the game. CRITICAL

  1. Custom Vehicle Tunings don't carry on from a stage to another, it resets to default regardless if there's service or not. This means custom setups are only used in the stage followed by the service where you tuned your car.
  2. There's reports of not being able to set up more than 1 stage in the Monte Carlo event sometimes. It will give a 400 error when trying to setup more. A walk-around has been found for this, by creating the event with 1 stage and later editing it to add more stages.
  3. Sweden and Germany are missing the Location table.
  4. Players can't repair punctures during the stage regardless if there's any spares available (Clubs only). Punctures get repaired in between stages (General), regardless of spares availability (please refer to "Tyres System" above, as these bugs are correlated.
  5. Some players are crashing when clicking Continue to proceed to the next stage (Check "Game Stability", same bug).
  6. The Assists filter is inaccurate, because it says most people are using assists, even if they aren't.   7. Championship points aren't being given correctly, more like randomly.   9. There seems to be some incoherency between times registered in-game and times registered in Clubs leaderboards ( https://imgur.com/a/23UtpRI )
  10. Damage is not properly transfered from one stage to the next, only gets worse.

MEDIUM

  1. Some people are getting stage conditions showed in non-english languages in the website, despite the rest of the parameters being in english and the selected language of the account being english.
  2. There's been a couple of reports where sometimes when you press "Submit Championship" the button goes white and nothing happens.
  3. It would be nice if you had the option to force 'return to main menu' to only be available during service, to prevent hot lapping possibilities.

LOW

  1. The cars in Clubs don't stay dirty between stages, unlike in other modes.
  2. We can't see existing club memberships (from DR1) in-game, only new club memberships show up.

 

Achievements

  1. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - There's reports of Modern Classics achievement not unlocking.
  2. To get the trophy "Watch the delta" and "Living the dream" you have to buy the Group A and B cars that are already included in the Deluxe Edition. Sometimes the achievement won't be unlocked even after buying all the cars.

 

AI

CRITICAL

Hardware Support

LOW

  1. Fanatec CSL Elite wheels are now showing the rev lights in reverse (right to left). Meaning from highest blue rev light at Low RPM to lowest red rev light at High RPM. Wheels confirmed so far (Porsche RSR, BMW GT2 Rim) NOTE: Fanatec updated their SDK which led to this change, but it's up to developers to update this in the code (AC Competizione team already did this), so Codemasters need to fix it on their end for DR2.

Tyre wear, at least on softs, needs to be improved so that it wears way faster than it currently does, so that Medium and Hard compounds are a viable choice whenever there are bigger stages. And if possible, make it so that tyre wear rates also depend on how you drive (if you push harder, higher speed and higher sliding will cause the tyres to wear faster). 20. If you don't take spare tyres and have a puncture in a stage, the tyre will still get repaired on the next one. Happening in Custom Multiplayer Events. This used to work before, at least in My Team, before v1.2. Should this be restricted to My Team mode only, it needs to be implement in Custom Events as well.

22. On custom events stage results, the penalty time does not account for the service penalty time (when applied) and therefore will give misleading stage times. Example: Player 1 had a service penalty time, but his stage time shows as if he didn't get a penalty at all. Basically there's no track of this penalty and there's no certainty to the other players in the session wether this penalty has been applied or not. Bug confirmed yesterday while playing with some friends.

23. Sound cutting bug is still present.

25. The portuguese translation or "Clear" weather is wrong, it should say "Céu Limpo" or simply "Limpo" and not "Limpar". "Limpar" is used as "to clean", and "limpo" alone makes no sense because that's just not how we use the verbs, we say it's "clear" like "sky clear", which doesnt make sense in english but that's the way it is in PT-PT and PT-BR. 26. When selecting recommended repairs in a service area, components out of view stay on 'no fix' unless you scroll down to view and reselect recommended repairs.

28. Whenever you pause the game or start a new stage, if you're using dashcam (and maybe if you define different cockpit positions), the game will reset the camera to cockpit. Those who drive in the default cockpit already don't experience this issue, and this only happens with External Cameras setting turned off. NOTE: This bug came on the Sweden 4.5GB pre-load patch on Thursday, April 18 (Steam)

29. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - Textures flicker black for fractions of seconds sometimes.

30. Fanatec CSL Elite is now showing the rev lights in reverse (right to left) since 1.4 update. Meaning from highest blue rev light at Low RPM to lowest red rev light at High RPM. Wheels confirmed so far (Porsche RSR, BMW GT2 Rim)

31. Some people are getting black snow for a few seconds in Sweden. It also happens on Australia's last sector of Mount Kaye Pass but it's not certain. There are some parts of some stages that flash either black or white like if lighting was adjusted. This bug has been here for a long time (at least for Australia) but hasn't been mentioned.

32. Shadows are giving a weird low resolution stripe effect when seen from interior cameras. This is probably also responsible for creating this shadow grid effect in the track surface. 33. Car bodywork parts are disappearing. Visual glitch.

34. Engine sound is cutting out on replays, apparently only in Time Trials. Reported in an Xbox One X but might be extended to other platforms.

37. Some pacenotes seem to be in the wrong channel (there's reports of it happening in New England in the Left/right hairpins), and there's also reports of pacenotes being way too low on the volume in some Germany sections.

38. Dirt doesn't carry on to the next stage. Dirt should carry on to the next stages (cumulative dirt), up until there's a service where the car is automatically cleaned.

39. Phil Mills keeps repeating "over finish" when you get close to the finish of the german stages, and also on some swedish stages. He repeats it once more once you cross the finish line, on to the stop. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02WLcfRCDvs )

40. For some reason, the new liveries do not stay in the cars once selected. When leaving and reentering, those cars (fulvia, kadett, rs200, polo gti, subaru wrx) return to have the livery "1"

@Riggs, the number 40 is solved, I have checked it, however another error is added: The engine updates do not work.

Can you provide more information about that? How does it not work? You cant buy them, they dont unlock or they dont progress?

Would also be nice to get some testing on the non-english co-pilot pacenotes from the people who reported them, to see if their issues are indeed solved.

Where ist an improvement in ffb? It´s said it is not final after the last update!

I know you should avoid fences, but why are you ALWAYS rotated 180 degrees when it happens?

The new "heavy-rain-effect" is perfect for me... 👍

before the patch, I had several cars in the process of updating the engine (semi-complete circle), after the patch, not only did that partial progress disappear (in all the cars I had in that state), when making events with cars in progress incomplete, it does not show the new update, and in my garage, the cars continue with the last update they had and do not increase their progress. Clarify that a car that in total has 6 updates, and had buyed the update 4 before the patch, with partial progress of actaulizacion 5, that partial progress disappears and remains unchanged in 4, no matter how many events you do with that car. I hope I have explained myself well given my weak English (and the use of the translator)

Yea it's clear enough to understand. What if this engine progression simply doesnt appear, but once you actually complete it, it will say the engine upgrade is ready to be installed? Something could've got screwed when they added the new notification.

I'll add that to the list.

I also considered it, but it does not work in any way, before the patch, I had a car in 97%, today I made a daily event, and not only did not show any progress at the end of the stage, but it was not unlocked in my garage either

Has anyone tried purchasing a cheap new car and seeing if if the progress bug is only affecting the pre existing vehicles? I would try but I'm at work at the moment.

I just "upgraded" my 208t16 from level 4 to 5 (i was near to 5 yesterday, but today i saw full level 4 only), so the progression is real (but invisible)
