So with that in mind, button 17 is the equivalent of enter or mouse 1 - 15 is back - 16 is i think F1 and 18 is F2.  D-Pad navigates.

Yep it works (17) in the Menu, but doesn't work yet at the splash screen - you have to press keyboard to step over 😞

No problems using the buttons on my g27 anywhere, splash screen included.  

Are you running the Logitech profiler?

Would car specific input mapping be possible?

I would love to have flappy paddle cars, H Pattern cars and sequential cars, depending on what the car actually has.

That's essentially in the game now, though a few cars have the wrong box type selected.

Did this update (1.9) remove the self centering  wheel force on menus for anybody else or did this just happen to me?  It is weird feeling and I preferred it the old way.

No, that option is only on crash reset, the setting you're talking about belongs to the wheel software.

The wheel software has been giving me problems lately.    I was hoping this wasn't another problem associated with that.

Hi Fellas. As a newb to 2.0 I began playing the last couple months. Xbox one x+Controller.  I use a recommended controller setup with a deadzone of only 5 for steering and the game has been excellent. I tested this with input reporting and no matter what I always hit 0%. No issues.

Fast forward to the latest update and my controller no longer returns to 0%. I thought my controller might have worn or been dropped by I purchased a brand new one and am getting the same results. I checked this out because I could feel the steering staying on a tiny bit. 

Was something changed with the sensitivity in the update last month?

Could this be an issue with the controller reporting mechanism?

Does anyone else have this issue? Should I return my new controller? 

How is the elite, any more accurate?

 

Advice please! I must continue to enjoy this great game as if I'm a professional rally driver. Thank you.

I just bought this game the other day. I loved DR1. It was excellent. 

I'm very disappointed with the ffb. It feels very unrealistic to me, like it's taken a huge step backwards. 

There's no road/surface feel. Very odd. 

I'm using a CSL Elite on the PS4. 

Has anyone got any settings I can try to improve things please?

I am having an issue with multi controller config, my wheel base is simxperience accuforce, fanatec csr elite pedals, fanatec seq/man 7 shifter, arduino handbrake and sim racing machine fanatec hub adaptor (seen as Fanatec wheel base),

All the controllers are seen and work when checked, but they are not all working together.

The accuforce wheel automayically sets to default wheel and works, great, the pedals work once calibrated, OK, but when I calibrate the wheel the pedals no longer work (but still seen in menu) unless re-calibrated, no shifter works, not on the wheel or the fanatec seq shifter even though when checked in the menu they work just fine.

Now my question is why have they changed the controller interface so dramatically from DR1, which by the way JUST BLOODY WORKED and still does? 

There have been comments that they had to modify DR2 due to people using multiple controllers, but I had no issue's and found it very straight forward on DR1 against the new and improved (NOT IMO)

I have read the controller release PDF, but surely if you have had to release such a document does that not ring the odd alarm bell?

How do I Use mouse and keyboard, It is not clearly explained, I have a mouse that i would like to use for gearing and steering (with mouse wheel) and side buttons for gearing while also using keyboard for other car inputs ?

Back in May the DiRT team put together an Input settings guide for DiRT Rally 2.0.

If you haven't seen it yet you can download the PDF here.

 

Now that you've all had some time to get your wheels and devices set up the team would like some input on the input 😉 

Feel free to leave your thoughts in this thread, and here's a few things to get you started:

  • How are you getting on with the input configuration options in-game? 
  • Are they easy to find, easy to understand?
  • Is it easy to understand in-game what each of the settings mean and do?
  • Is there anything in this regard you think the team could do better in the future?
  • How are you finding the in-game tools and configuration options?
  • How do you feel about how the game handles external configuration files?
  • What are your thoughts on how the game handles multiple input devices, and switching between them?
  • If any of the devices you used were un-official, did you configure your devices via the in-game menus or by editing the XML?
  • If you edited the XML did you know that the majority of the settings you can change in the XML are available in-game, before editing the XML?

 

Please note that for this particular thread the team is looking for feedback on input settings/experiences only, and not force-feedback.

If you're on console please state that too as it may be handy for the team as well.

I just installed Dirt Rally 2.0 and I noticed my PS4 controller doesn't plug and play the way F1 2020 does. The input mapping has no sensitivity to the trigger buttons it's either fully on or fully off... Hoping in the future Dirt Rally games will plug and play with Playstation controllers. F1 2020 has forcefeedback, pressure sensitive triggers etc all working instantly with no interference from the user 😞
