F1 2019 - Skill Rating system broken [SG]

Recommended Posts

@Hoo

Sounds great 👍 Really hope they are boosting the points rewards in the next patch 😎

Little example from my last race: Finished 8th in a lobby with 16 players. But just lost 10 points or something.

The devs have to understand that the game isn't going to be popular forever (to be honest the most I have seen online in ranked is 180) when that drops off, as they must know it will, there will be lobbies of maybe even just two people. The current system has no points increase for the winner of a 2 person lobby and the loser dropping points, will that ever change?

Also on that note if the people ahead of you are higher ranked surely they are expected to win so if they do should the loser not lose that many points, if any?

As it has been stated the system at the moment doesn't work, and definitely isn't viable for the future. I just wanted to add my voice to the disgruntled customer list.

What the devs should also take into account is that more often than not you get placed in a lobby where the qualies are underway already. I just got put in a 19 player lobby with pretty good racers, 19th on the grid, raced a hell of a race and managed to finish 6th. My reward? 7 points. :classic_sad: You should def be rewarded for your finish position relative to your starting position.

Can someone explain how the point system works? Finished 5th today in a lobby with 19 players. Started at the back. Total mayhem first lap but I survived.

I was pretty much sure that I scored some points after... it didn't. Got negative points. Not much but still negative. 😅

When you get above 1800 points you really want to be in 12+ player lobbies and get podiums as 4th or lower you will lose points.

Hmm that explains a lot. I'm on 1850 right now. Never been higher than 1870. So freaking hard to get 2k like this.

On top of the bad skill rating system, which I've never had any problems with in any other game. The fact that I get a penalty in the session when accidently running in to someone who spun out, and re-entering the track in such a way that he/she blocked all of it..

So because of someone elses mistake and obviously stupid or trying to ruin it for the pack behind. I get a 3 sec penalty because of "unsportsmanlike conduct" and a almost wrecked car.. I got so furious… Also, recieving warnings for when people brake late and charge into you.

Shouldn't be to hard to at least improve it...

Does it also matter about the level at which the other racers are? For example being at 1850 if you are beating racers that are all lower than that you aren't going to get many/any points.

This is taken from the achievement guide posted on TrueAchievements https://www.trueachievements.com/a275063/pure-gold-achievement:

How the Skill System works
The skill system works on a 1v1 basis. This means you will be rated against every single driver in the lobby.
Beating drivers with a higher rating than yours will increase yours more than beating a driver with a lower score.
Likewise, being beaten by a driver with a lower score than yours will decrease your skill rating more than by being beaten by a higher ranked driver.

Although i am not sure how accurate it is it does make sense, if all the racers in the lobby were lower than you then you pretty much have to win to gain even a few points

It does make some sense, however here's something I heard, at 1950 points someone won in a 6 player lobby and got 0 points. Is that even possible? You can't get better than 1st. I guess you don't get points for beating someone with a lower rank. But like it was said before the numbers are gonna fall off eventually and this will be impossible. I was playing 2018 just before 2019 came out and never had more than 3-4-5 players at a time, that wouldn't be enough to reach gold and you can't keep on finding and winning against higher ranked players with a small player base.

I don't have any more nerves to play ranked matches now. I had a great run I had 1718 points and now after 2 days I'm dropped to 1535 points so I don't thing so that I will get this achievement everybody rams each other and because of this rammers I can't enjoy this game anymore. Why we cant get a points like in real F1 by positions which we finished, rating 1v1 in lobby is not fair.

Hey guys, sorry about my terrible english but i will try my best! I have all platinum trophies since f1 2010 and this trophie maybe will break my sequence. I start few races and so far i can't have more then 1500 points 😞 some times someone push me off the track or just ran into my car on turn 1 and that ruined my race, losing 50/70 points and i have to run 10 decents races for recover for one stupid situation! so, here os my opnion about how the system should be works:
In a lobby with 12 players wich is more usual then 20 players:
1st + 20
2nd + 15
3th + 10
4th + 5
5th + 2
6th 0
7th - 2
8th - 5
9th - 10
10th - 12
11th - 15
12th - 20

Or ANY combinations of points for at least you know how much points you will be earned on each race you run, 1v1 system so far for is not the betther mechanism for this trophie!!

I wish to all a clean races and good luck with this trophie!

I finally unlocked the trophy yesterday. Playing on PS4 here is what i did.

First of all you wanna make sure you don't lose any points as it is so hard to gain them.

When you're in the game make sure you prepare the connection to the internet by double tapping the PS button:

PS Double tap>Settings>Network>Top of the list (where you can switch the internet connection on and off). Then go back to the game with the double tap.

For the following scenarios when you have to quit you'll just hit double tap and disconnect from the internet while in the race! Then you go back to the game and the main menu. If you're in the main menu you reconnect to the internet. Be as fast as possible. You should not lose any points.

Finishing 3. or better in a lobby with 8 or more players gave me positive points all the time.

Lobby with less than 7 players>QUIT

If you don't get on the podium>QUIT

If you get too much damage >QUIT

Although i'm usually racing with no assists, i turned on traction control on medium, the abs and the race line on. As you won't get spun out that easily and you can simply brake later, what helps you in the first carnage curves of online racing.

As you won't lose any points you can slowly build up your score. Even if you're not the most experienced racer... at some time the luck will be yours and you'll finish strong and get some points.

This thing is really a learning curve and you'll get better and better at it.

Maybe this helps someone out.

Pretty sure I was in the lobby, froze on the grid and wouldn’t start so jumped out of the game, lost 100. It’s garbage!

Yeah man. Very unstable servers or something? It's terrible. This is driving me nuts. Why don't the Devs patch this or something? I don't get it.

Well, I finally got the trophy this morning.

Here's the sad, pathetic truth.

1) Drop yourself down to B or C skill ratings.

2) Qualify as best as possible (no worse than fourth). Avoid the chaos in the rear.

3) Win as many races as possible (finish no lower than third).

4) Cut a corner or exceed track limits once or twice a race to keep your rating inside B or C skill.

The last race, there were 17 racers. I qualified 3rd. Had a bad start and fell to 4th. The top 3 started to battle and one of the 3 pitted for a broken wing. On the final turn of the last lap, the 2nd place driver hit the wall and was stuck. I finished 2nd and gained 15 points to reach 2003 points and unlocked the trophy.

Yess. This. It's almost necessary to drop to C ratings. Don't think the Devs designed it that way. But it is only chance with the small rewards you get. They have to make the rewards higher.

But congrats man. Wish I had it all ready. Played for days with no luck. It's not that I am bad or something. But every good streak is getting destroyed by one bad race full of idiots. You can start al over again.

And turning off your internet connection, doesn't work for me. I don't lose skill points right away. But if I quit and turn off the console, the next time when I play the game I have lost points.

I found C rating too hectic, B seems to be a good spot for decent size lobbies, a little bit of people taking each other out, but not too much. C rating I would see people literally slam anyone trying to overtake them.

I'm currently sitting at around 1600 points but have only gotten there by picking lobbies that might actually give me points, being silver Rank 2 there is no point in racing against a lobby full of Silver 1s, without a win you are guaranteed to lose points

However with the low number of players in the game its not easy to find lobbies of higher rated racers, this is why the system isn't viable for the future ... as less people play the higher ranked players won't gain anymore

Completely true. Within a year people will be playing less, because of the new 2020 game or something. And the players are screwed because they can't get enough points.

Was I lobby with a lot of people. Qualified second at Singapore. But the race didn't start because one player didn't load?

Waited 10min but without luck. Had to disconnect en restart. Lost 130 points. This is killing me..CM. Help us and patch this unstable game and overhaul the rewards in ranked races please. IMG_20190811_204309.thumb.jpg.b54aa4eb1c9f13f2ed13db3b8a2bbb31.jpg

You are correct about the C skill level rooms. I made the mistake of getting used to exceeding track limits intentionally and was demoted when I wanted to stay B rated.

Also, maybe it was my circumstance, but it appeared that alot of fast drivers was also rated in the C level. I just lucked out and was able to unlock the trophy with only completing 2 races at the C skill level.

i discovered this game (i mean the F1-2018) by coincidence. One day i got a discount at the game pass on the XBox One (for only 1 EUR!!), i saw the F1-2018, and just tried it, why not? I was SO surprised... SUCH A GREAT GAME! I spent over 250 EUR for a wheel and its hold-system and was excited to buy the F1-2019. But.... after playing the online mode in F1-2018 against so many kamikaze-drivers and realizing, that there is just no administrator system that punish this behaviour, and that F1-2019 is still the same way...... what??? NO! No, no, no, no..... I'm selling the wheel in Ebay and I'm not spending money in this game. First, because i don't want to pay to get frustrated, and second because (although i'm not 99 years old) i'm old enough to know, that the only language that companies unsderstand is MONEY. So, i'm not buying your new game, although i know is great. Great, but frustrating because of your unexisting system of punishment for kamikaze killer drivers. Formula One, i mean the motor sport, is NOT soccer, is not wrestling, is FORMULA ONE, there are rules and you can NOT just drive as you want. Goodbye, maybe in 2025 you have a newer version where kamikaze drivers get bannished. Until then, i will spend my time (and money) in other hobbies. Best regards, "Roman lives" in XBox.

Pure ******** this is man... Lap5/5. Bam.. Lost connection to PSN. Nothing I could do. Lost 60 goddamn hard fought points. Never ever have I played such an unfair game.

I know it is important to punish rage quitters, but if people got connection problems they get punished too. This got to be the most luck based thing in a game I have ever witnessed. I just love the game. It's incredible but ranked MP its not...
