I literally loathe the new handling model

Recommended Posts

I know that most of you are in love with the new F1 game, so do I, but there is one thing I can't stand - the handling model. I've never had such a bad experience when playing an F1 game, really. The car in career is extremely understeer and sometimes doesn't want to turn. In Monaco in FP3, with wings 11/8 I can't make the first corner without touching the wall. I have to break to speed under 100 km/h to make it. With wings like this, the car is understeer at the entry and oversteer at the exit and vice versa. I get zero satisfaction and fun from playing, only frustration. I race on 100 difficulty level and I'm struggling to maintain ma teammate's pace (Racing Point) or even complete practice programs. I tried a variety of setups but always the same result, the only thing that changes is that oversteer disappears and understeer gets bigger. My pace is much better in races so I can match my teammate but it's not enough. Is there any chance of this being fixed? Sorry in advance for bad English.

It's subjective. I had huge problems with last year's handling model but I absolutely love the handling this year. It fits my driving style like a glove.

Run more wing at Monaco, 11/11 is what I used to win in a McLaren.

Not had any major understeer issues at all so far, a little bit in Canada but nothing that's close to undriveable.

Maybe when some good setups appear online this won't be a problem anymore. Made the last game way more playable for me once I could tweak good setups for my driving style. Wings can be confusing. To hold the line in a fast corner without drifting off track its the REAR wing that should be higher. The front is more for initial car turn entry but with a low rear wing it won't be able to hold the turn. If you can imagine putting a needle through the center of the car and spinning it around. Front and back have to work together to stop that spinning. High front wing and low rear is fine if you want to drift!

After a few updates, it's a bit better but still garbage. The car still doesn't turn and I have to slow down extremely before the corners. Setups help nothing, physics only becomes less garbage, but it's still garbage. Frustration is so high that I'm about to delete this game. Really. Every time I drive I get so frustrated that I want to destroy something. Bring back 2018 handling model plz

I guess you are not very adaptable to change and/or are one who takes more speed than you actually should into corners expecting cars on rails!

Not really. I think I just can't adapt and that's all.

Out of curiosity, did you generally use a lot of rear ballast last year?

I did. But in most cases, it was 7-8.

Cars are still a bit too slow, especially in highspeed corners, even after the 1.5 patch.

I thought they'd make the cars at least 2,5 - 3 seconds faster to what it was in patch 1.4, but apparently they only changed it by a small 1 - 1,5 seconds instead.

On tracks that have many highspeed corners, Spain for example, the fastest drivers among us are not able to get close to the ridiculous pole laptime of a whopping 1:15:4 by Lewis Hamilton, even worse, most setups used by players tend to have low aero to maximize topspeed even though in real life the opposite is the case, basically irl corner speeds are valued much more over topspeeds, which is why the cars irl are extremely fast in corners but rather slow on straights.

Sadly CM did not replicate this behavior of the cars correctly imo.

Hopefully in one of the future patches we will gain another 1 - 1,5 seconds of speed for the cars, to get closer in alignment to real life telemetry data and be able to hit and or even beat real life track records more consistently.

Literally first racing game ever where players complain if the cars are not getting slower and harder to drive!!
