Rewind Function

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just wanted to know in that post, are you using this rewind function, if yes, when?

Somehow I do not like this function, that it exists, but it is there, so I find myself using it…in the old F1 Games you didn`t had this, so the race was screwed when you messed it up.

Now I can change my outcome by this simple click, somehow it is good for me, with a wife, 2 kids and 2 cats at home, there is always something that disturbs my concentration, so I justify this rewind as “my concentration was disturbed” 😉

I often use it when I get used to the tracks in training, but also during race when I did a silly mistake and crashed my front wing or something…normally I do not wanna use this “cheat” but as mentioned before, sometimes it is a rescue as I am not alone in my room anymore when it was just me and the steering wheel 😄

What post?

Also, it's called a "flashback" in Codemasters F1 games, and it's been there since 2010, so it was in "old F1 games".

so for you, only F1 games made by Codemasters are old games? What about Grand Prix 2-4, What about EAs F1 99-02 what about Sonys 2003-2005, 2006 Championship Edition....

are these not F1 Games?!

That's actually what I understood the use of the term 'old f1 games' to mean. The ones before codies.

I used it once to get a trophy then disable it. More realistic but be careful not making mistakes.

it’s, on my opinion, better like this. What’s the fun of using flashbacks everytime something goes wrong.

i have exactly the same experience like you. In older games, there were no flashbacks so like you said: "you didn`t had this, so the race was screwed when you messed it up. "

now im using it time to time here and there:

- especially in practise programms, because i dont want to drive extra laps to get full points if i missed a corner f. e.

- in race, sometimes (weird bug, stupid fight or simply my huge mistake). I know thats "cheating" but hey i m playing against CPU so what?!

- never in Q

I use them but I try to limit how many times I can like in the first games Codies made where you were limited t o4 per session so if I make a mistake or I feel I've been unfairly punished by the penalty system I can undo it as long as I have a flashback. Once I've used my allocation of 4 though any mistakes after that I count as part of the race so need to be careful as to when and where I use them.. I do tend to use them a lot at Monaco but I think that's mainly due to the fact I always seem to struggle around there due to how tight and twisty it is. I think the flashbacks are a good idea but making them unlimited was a bit of a weird decision.

I agree on this mate, it should have been like on Dirt 4, there you could limit “flashbacks” for each session. normally it is a good thing for casual players, as I said, when the little one is crying or the cat crosses the TV 😄 then the concentration is gone and mistakes happen…but somehow it feels like cheating as well. Well, I need to learn trying to accept that I am out of the race next time 😉 interesting to read how you guys use it. That was purpose of this topic.
