IMPORTANT: Read and understand this entire opening post before replying, as providing the right amount of detail will help out the team immensely in tracking and resolving any bugs that arise, thanks.

Hello everyone.

Version 1.6 of DiRT Rally 2.0 is available now and contains a number of features and bug fixes based on community feedback. The full patch notes can be found here:

 

The DiRT team is always on the look-out for any bugs or issues that arise as a result of updates, so if you have come across any please post them in here. Your contributions to previous threads have been very useful in helping the team plan not only for version 1.6 but additional updates in the future.

 

Before posting, please make sure to follow these guidelines. Without adequate information the team will have trouble identifying and fixing bugs, so please provide as much info as you can:

  • Check if a bug has already been reported.
  • If a bug has been reported and you are experiencing the same issue, hit the image.png icon.
  • The more popular bug posts will have a better chance of catching the attention of the team.
  • If a bug cannot be reproduced, it cannot be fixed.
  • When you experience a bug, please try to trigger said bug again if you can, and show us the steps you went through to trigger it.
  • Text steps are good, video even better.
  • One post per bug (or one bug per post, to put it another way) please, for our tracking purposes. That way every bug gets its own URL for us to investigate.

 

Please also provide the following:

  • What platform you're playing on.
  • What your PC setup/build is like (if playing on Steam).
  • Whether you're a Standard or Deluxe user.

There's a bug in a New Zealand stage, Te Awanga Forward around split 4 that launches your car in the air. So far it has only been tested with surface degradation activated.

about 50% of the time I'm getting a small amount of dirt (equivalent to driving a tarmac stage) in Sweden, when it should be snow sticking to the car. 

if I am in a multi-stage event, the dirt can be replaced by snow at the start line of the next stage, or vice versa

@ianism In fairness (And just playing Devils advocate here), the studded tyres do bite down into the gravel and mud below the snow, so you would expect there to be some sort of mud coloured slush on the car. But even in that case, what you have shown does appear to be a tad excessive.

ha, absolutely! and since slush is browny-grey it's a little unrealistic to have only white on the car because there are slushy sections in Sweden. I'm not really bothered about that kind of thing though.

however, this is not that. check the video below and make sure to watch to the end, because it's at the start of the stage after the loading screen that you see it. the car finishes the stage all white, we go to stage 2 and bam! the car is cleaner and brown. I don't know if this has been the case since Sweden was added to the game, or since the 1.5 patch where they allowed dirt to stay on the car between stages (except for ones with service stations). I also want to check if this happens in Monte Carlo.

I actually made a post about this in the v1.5 bug thread but nobody seemed to notice, so I thought I'd stick it right at the front of this topic 😛

A few issues I noticed today:

 

1) Rev Lights are STILL inverted on Fanatec hardware? 

2) Handbrake still acts like an on/off switch (no full analog axis)

3) No dash cameras only arcade style bonnet cam (lol)

4) No Tarmac / road feel / steering resistance through FFB

5) No UDP out for telemetry / dash apps like other dirt games etc from over 15 years ago (lol)

6) 1) Rev Lights are STILL inverted on Fanatec hardware? (I posted this one twice as it's utterly laughable)

7) No steam workshop support like this games predecessor and other codices games

8) NO VR

9) No way to mod skins into DLC cars as they have been encrypted (lol) 

10) No way to RESET CAREER MODE or START A FRESH CAREER (lol)

 

 Apologists... in 3...2...1

 

Comeon codies this is embarrassing for 2019 title from triple A company. 

We have single bedroom developers creating magic like KartKraft and you lot can't even get the rev lights to work the right way since launch (lol)

 

it was was a change in the SDK and you haven't updated it yet... get a move on!

Bugs:

  • The rallycross start lights do not work at Mettet, Belgium or Bikernieki, Latvia
  • The new "Consolidation Finals" elimination setting in custom RX events needs a toggle on/off in event settings rather than just being on regardless, current World RX events do not do consolidation finals

Career tyres are still acting very odd. Still always have 5/5 changes left in service. Still always tells me I have a worn/used set of Mediums on no matter what i actually used.

The nr4/r4 Mitsubishi is stated as a 5 speed manual sequential gearbox (art least in the portuguese version of the game) but when playing with "sequential or H+clutch" option, it's a H gearbox...

-- PATCH v1.6 Bug List --

Based on v1.6's changelog and taking note of the fixes it brings, here's the updated bug list reported in the v1.4.1 thread, which represents all the bugs that still need fixing

 

Game Stability

CRITICAL

  1. There are reports of stuttering since v1.2, which didn't exist before, due to some Wheels (Logitech G27 and G29 were the ones reported so far) and other USB devices being connected.   2. A few players are getting their FPS reduced to 20 when going off-track.
  3. There's reports of the game crashing on Clubs for some players, when clicking "Continue" after completing a stage.

 

Lighting Department

HIGH

  1. The visibility during some stages in New Zealand and Australia is nearly null when played on Sunset or Dusk conditions and the headlights have no effect. This applies to any rally when run on Sunset/Dusk and sometimes cloudy weathers, headlights have no effect at all when turned on. Headlights don't seem to light far enough during night time as well in rallies like Poland and USA, they could use a draw distance boost because there's some sort of black fog.

There seems to be an under-exposure or shadow problem.

About lighting at night (click):

60 FPS -> Low-Medium settings. 28 FPS -> Maxed. Nearly no difference in the lighting range aspect, despite some more definition.

       2. There's also HDR/Bloom/Over-exposure or Draw Distance fog incoherences between interior cameras and bonnet (and/or other exterior cameras).

Sound Department

CRITICAL

  1. Sound cuts off randomly during the stage and you either have to finish the stage to have the sound back in the next loading screen, or restart the game to get it solved.

MEDIUM

  2. Engine sound is cutting out on replays, apparently only in Time Trials. Reported in an Xbox One X but might be extended to other platforms.
  3. Engine idling sound is incorrect when the car getting to the start line.

 

Graphics Department

HIGH

  1. Xbox One|Xbox One X - Screen tearing and black screens problems on Xbox One and Xbox One X ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=409736 ) NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.6
  2. Some people are getting black snow for a few seconds in Sweden. It also happens on Australia's last sector of Mount Kaye Pass but it's not reproduceable everytime. There are some parts of some stages that flash either black or white like if lighting was adjusted. This bug has been here for a long time (at least for Australia), since the early patches. NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.6
  3.   5. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - Textures flicker black for fractions of seconds sometimes, can be related to bug #2. NOTE: Needs confirmation in v1.6

MEDIUM

  1. Shadows are giving a weird low resolution stripe effect when seen from interior cameras. This is probably also responsible for creating this shadow grid effect in the track surface. LOW

Tyres System

HIGH

  1. After a stage when you're in the service then go to the main menu and back again in the service, the tyres you used lose their used condition and just display as "New".
  2. If you don't take spare tyres and have a puncture in a stage, the tyre will still get repaired in the next one. If you don't take spare tyres, the tyre shouldn't get repaired in the next stage. If you do take spare tyres, it should use one or more depending on how many tyres you have punctured and how many you have in the trunk. This used to work properly before patch v1.2.
  3. If you get a puncture after the finish line while driving to the marshall, that puncture won't get repaired in next stage regardless if you have spares available.
  4. There's an issue with tyres selection and saving. People are choosing Softs, but when they go back to service after they run the stages, it shows that Mediums were the one being used. MEDIUM

  1. Tyre wear seems to be too forgiving at the moment, making any choice besides Soft and Wet a bit irrelevant, and rendering the Hard compound useless. This is specially notory in My Team, where there's only 2 stages between services. Solution goes through increasing tyre wear rates on Softs, using current Softs wear rate on Mediums and Mediums' on Hards. This change needs to be thoroughly tested in a "hardcore" environment such as 4 stages in between services at least, in order to see results. This is classified as Medium priority since it is a game changer if properly tweaked and will surely improvement the rally experience for everyone.

 

Physics Department

HIGH

  1. Something weird happened with the physics when crashing one of the bridge pillars in Argentina ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rqN8ctZ71M )

 

Monte Carlo Rally

HIGH

The Monte Carlo rally stages could use a search for collision zones, as there are a few spots where players touch invisible objects and that ruins the stage for those people who like to take closer lines to the walls/barriers.

  1. There's invisible object collisions in Monte Carlo near the wall (trees) and some of the stone barriers (One example: https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=411526 )
  2. There's one or two iron barriers that have spectators on the outside. If you hit the barrier or drive close to it you don't hit the spectators, but the game will still reset you to the track. This is happening in one of the left iron rails in "Col de Turini - Descente" stage.
  3. Some zones that would otherwise retire you from the rally in DiRT Rally 1 if you slid off the mountain, now reset you to the track instead. Zones that you have no realistic way of coming back from (either because you simply cant come back to the stage, or if you happen to land in the road a few meters below the car would be trashed) should retire you definitely and not reset you to the track. Quick solution: re-introduce DR1's Monaco retirement zones. (Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpIlfNeHzlg )

 

New Zealand Rally

HIGH

  1. There's a bump in the stage "Te Awang Forward" and its short version, in split 4, that launches your car in to the air. This has happened with surface degradation turned on. Co-Driver Issues

HIGH

  1. MEDIUM

User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX)

HIGH

  1. Some Leaderboard problems from v1.4 persist. MEDIUM

  1. Penalty times obtained in the service sometimes shows doubled in the penalty time column in the stage's leaderboard results following that service. (Example: You get 01:30 penalty time in the service, the penalty time shown in the next stage is 03:00. However, the correct value (01:30) is still added to the stage time and so the overall time is correct). This bug isn't very consistent, because I've seen service penalty times of other players displaying correctly, while they see it doubled. So this might be a LocalPlayer display glitch.
  2. When selecting recommended repairs in a service area, components out of view stay on 'no fix' unless you scroll down to view and reselect recommended repairs. NOTE: Confirmed in v1.5. Intermittent issue, needs confirmation in v1.6
  3. There's no UI information about each setting in the Settings menu, something that existed in previous D4 and DR1.

LOW

HIGH

  1. Custom Vehicle Tunings don't carry on from a stage to another, it resets to default regardless if there's service or not. This means custom setups are only used in the stage followed by the service where you tuned your car.
  2. There's reports of not being able to set up more than 1 stage in the Monte Carlo event sometimes. It will give a 400 error when trying to setup more. A walk-around has been found for this, by creating the event with 1 stage and later editing it to add more stages.
  3. Players can't repair punctures during the stage regardless if there's any spares available (Clubs only). Punctures get repaired in between stages (General), regardless of spares availability (please refer to "Tyres System" above, as these bugs are correlated.
  4. Some players are crashing when clicking Continue to proceed to the next stage (Check "Game Stability", same bug).
  5. The Assists filter is inaccurate, because it says most people are using assists, even if they aren't. This Assist list should only list people with mechanical assists turned on, please check the link for more information. ( https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/38598-dirt-rally-20-clubs/?do=findComment&comment=432528 )
  6. Championship points aren't being given correctly, more like randomly.   8. There seems to be some incoherency between times registered in-game and times registered in Clubs leaderboards ( https://imgur.com/a/23UtpRI )
  9. Damage is not properly transfered from one stage to the next, only gets worse.

MEDIUM

  1. Some people are getting stage conditions showed in non-english languages in the website, despite the rest of the parameters being in english and the selected language of the account being english.
  2. There's been a couple of reports where sometimes when you press "Submit Championship" the button goes white and nothing happens.
  3. It would be nice if you had the option to force 'return to main menu' to only be available during service, to prevent hot lapping possibilities.

LOW

  1. The cars in Clubs don't stay dirty between stages, unlike in other modes. NOTE: Intermittent issue, need confirmation in v1.6

 

Achievements

  1. To get the trophy "Watch the delta" and "Living the dream" you have to buy the Group A and B cars that are already included in the Deluxe Edition. Sometimes the achievement won't be unlocked even after buying all the cars.
  2. "Past and Present" achievement, which triggers by winning one championship, isn't working.

 

Hardware Support

LOW

  1. Fanatec CSL Elite wheels are now showing the rev lights in reverse (right to left). Meaning from highest blue rev light at Low RPM to lowest red rev light at High RPM. Wheels confirmed so far (Porsche RSR, BMW GT2 Rim) NOTE: Fanatec updated their SDK which led to this change, but it's up to developers to update this in the code (AC Competizione team already did this), so Codemasters need to fix it on their end for DR2.

That's literally the same thing in reverse.

This is for bug fix tracking by the team, if it's one post full of a list of bugs, it's horrific to work with and search.

 

Also of note, a list of bugs with no explanation is useless, again all in PJs post.

  3. There are occasions where ambient sounds and music are muted in the service area (while menu selection feedback sound and rain still works). Happens immediately upon selecting menu items e.g. option, tyres, tune, event details. Normal sounds resume after starting stage. Fixed in Patch v1.6

Tyres System

CRITICAL

  1. After a stage when you're in the service then go to the main menu and back again in the service, the tyres you used lose their used condition and just display as "New".
  2. If you don't take spare tyres and have a puncture in a stage, the tyre will still get repaired in the next one. If you don't take spare tyres, the tyre shouldn't get repaired in the next stage. If you do take spare tyres, it should use one or more depending on how many tyres you have punctured and how many you have in the trunk. This used to work properly before patch v1.2.
  3. If you get a puncture after the finish line while driving to the marshall, that puncture won't get repaired in next stage regardless if you have spares available.
  4. There's an issue with tyres selection and saving. People are choosing Softs, but when they go back to service after they run the stages, it shows that Mediums were the one being used. MEDIUM

  1. Tyre wear seems to be too forgiving at the moment, making any choice besides Soft and Wet a bit irrelevant, and rendering the Hard compound useless. This is specially notory in My Team, where there's only 2 stages between services. Solution goes through increasing tyre wear rates on Softs, using current Softs wear rate on Mediums and Mediums' on Hards. This change needs to be thoroughly tested in a "hardcore" environment such as 4 stages in between services at least, in order to see results. This is classified as Medium priority since it is a game changer if properly tweaked and will surely improvement the rally experience for everyone.

 

Physics Department

CRITICAL

Monte Carlo Rally

CRITICAL

The Monte Carlo rally stages could use a search for collision zones, as there are a few spots where players touch invisible objects and that ruins the stage for those people who like to take closer lines to the walls/barriers.

  1. There's invisible object collisions in Monte Carlo near the wall (trees) and some of the stone barriers (One example: https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/35657-dirt-rally-20-v12-found-a-bug-post-it-here/?do=findComment&comment=411526 )
  2. There's one or two iron barriers that have spectators on the outside. If you hit the barrier or drive close to it you don't hit the spectators, but the game will still reset you to the track. This is happening in one of the left iron rails in "Col de Turini - Descente" stage.
  3. Some zones that would otherwise retire you from the rally in DiRT Rally 1 if you slid off the mountain, now reset you to the track instead. Zones that you have no realistic way of coming back from (either because you simply cant come back to the stage, or if you happen to land in the road a few meters below the car would be trashed) should retire you definitely and not reset you to the track. Quick solution: re-introduce DR1's Monaco retirement zones. (Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpIlfNeHzlg )

 

Co-Driver Issues

CRITICAL

  1. User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX)

  1. When selecting recommended repairs in a service area, components out of view stay on 'no fix' unless you scroll down to view and reselect recommended repairs. NOTE: Confirmed in v1.5. Intermittent issue.

  1. Penalty times obtained in the service sometimes shows doubled in the penalty time column in the stage's leaderboard results following that service. (Example: You get 01:30 penalty time in the service, the penalty time shown in the next stage is 03:00. However, the correct value (01:30) is still added to the stage time and so the overall time is correct). This bug isn't very consistent, because I've seen service penalty times of other players displaying correctly, while they see it doubled. So this might be a LocalPlayer display glitch.
  2. There's no UI information about each setting in the Settings menu, something that existed in previous D4 and DR1.

LOW

  1. The portuguese translation of "Clear" weather is wrong, it should say "Céu Limpo" or simply "Limpo" and not "Limpar". "Limpar" is used as "to clean", and "limpo" alone makes no sense because that's just not how we use the verbs, we say it's "clear" like "sky clear", which doesnt make sense in english but that's the way it is in PT-PT and PT-BR. CRITICAL

  1. Custom Vehicle Tunings don't carry on from a stage to another, it resets to default regardless if there's service or not. This means custom setups are only used in the stage followed by the service where you tuned your car.
  2. There's reports of not being able to set up more than 1 stage in the Monte Carlo event sometimes. It will give a 400 error when trying to setup more. A walk-around has been found for this, by creating the event with 1 stage and later editing it to add more stages.
  3. Sweden and Germany are missing the Location table. Fixed in Clubs hotfix 18/06/2019
  4. Players can't repair punctures during the stage regardless if there's any spares available (Clubs only). Punctures get repaired in between stages (General), regardless of spares availability (please refer to "Tyres System" above, as these bugs are correlated.
  5. Some players are crashing when clicking Continue to proceed to the next stage (Check "Game Stability", same bug).
  6. The Assists filter is inaccurate, because it says most people are using assists, even if they aren't.   7. Championship points aren't being given correctly, more like randomly.   1. Some people are getting stage conditions showed in non-english languages in the website, despite the rest of the parameters being in english and the selected language of the account being english.
  2. There's been a couple of reports where sometimes when you press "Submit Championship" the button goes white and nothing happens.
  3. It would be nice if you had the option to force 'return to main menu' to only be available during service, to prevent hot lapping possibilities.

LOW

  1. The cars in Clubs don't stay dirty between stages, unlike in other modes.
  2. We can't see existing club memberships (from DR1) in-game, only new club memberships show up. Clubs were remade from scratch, and this is irrelevant now.

 

Achievements

  1. PS4 (and maybe Xbox) - There's reports of Modern Classics achievement not unlocking. Fixed in Patch v1.5
  2. To get the trophy "Watch the delta" and "Living the dream" you have to buy the Group A and B cars that are already included in the Deluxe Edition. Sometimes the achievement won't be unlocked even after buying all the cars.
  3. "Past and Present" achievement, which triggers by winning one championship, isn't working.

 

AI

CRITICAL

Hardware Support

LOW

  1. Fanatec CSL Elite wheels are now showing the rev lights in reverse (right to left). Meaning from highest blue rev light at Low RPM to lowest red rev light at High RPM. Wheels confirmed so far (Porsche RSR, BMW GT2 Rim) NOTE: Fanatec updated their SDK which led to this change, but it's up to developers to update this in the code (AC Competizione team already did this), so Codemasters need to fix it on their end for DR2.

When it comes to repeating the last command by co-driver I thought that it would be good element to make some joke.

I can confirm that the missing pace notes in the Germany stage mentioned above just after the over crest instruction is still missing in patch 1.6!!

Co-Driver-Issues -> Critical -> 1. = NOT fixed.

While several visible arrow calls are fixed on "Verbundsring" including this specific left 1 (but no crest sign before), Phil Mills calls still the crest, but not the "left 1" or "square left".

Tested on "Verbundsring" with a Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 in Time Trials mode 3 times in a row. Everytime the same result.

That's how I took it anyway

I hashed it together but the way we’re starting to track bugs is to drop a URL from where we learn of it, in case any of the devs want to PM the user and get more info.

When we have a post with 6 different bugs and none of them well-documented it’s very hard to pull out the right info from that.

Were still evolving this reporting method a bit as myself and the team figure out what works best.

 

@Riggs kinda gets a pass since half of what’s being worked on was in his giant compendium of insects in the 1.5 thread 🙂

I'm on Steam, running the standard edition and can confirm the Polo R5's snow tires are still not properly attached to their axles, hence they protrude too much from the fenders. Simply load any Sweden stage with the Polo to see what I mean.
