Black cloud bug in F1 2019 [R2]

Recommended Posts

First of all, i play on xbox.

Ok, so i was yesterday playing career on F1 2019, at the start of the French Grand Prix, afther the start, suddenly a black cloud concered my tv screen bit by bit until the whole screen was black!

I restarted the game and race and everything seemed fine, but was i wrong.

When i shifted gears, upshift no problem, but most of the time downshift wouldn't work at all. Imagine coming from a straight in 8th gear to 2nd gear but you can not downshift!!

Very annoying.

I thought my gearbox was kinda broken (in game) so i replaced it for the next race.

In practice next weekend still the same… downshifts 80% of the time did not work.

Maybe my steering wheel was broken...

I started project cars 2 and everything worked perfect.

Back to F1 2019 and tried time trial instead. Guess what happened… everything worked perfect.

Back to career, 80% of the downshifts not working!!

Never had a 'Black cloud bug' like this before.

Anyone has the same problem??

Is there a solution for this??

Please Help @developers @codemasters

Hi @davidlouwagie, thanks for letting us know. With regards to the screen going black, can I ask for a little more information regarding it;

  • Which model of the Xbox are you using? (Base, S or X)
  • Are you using 4K? Is HDR enabled?
  • How had you been progressing during that playthrough? I.E had you been simulating some sessions, using mid-session saves, restarting sessions etc.
  • Which team were you?
I have passed this onto the team to investigate but with a little more information they will hopefully be able to narrow it down. Thanks!

Ok, so i am using the xbox one X, 4k hdr enabled.

I did simulate practice 3, no mid session save, no restarting sessions.

My team is renault. Team mate Ricciardo.

Full practice (short), qualifying (one-shot), formation lap (off), race distance (25%), AI driver lv (65), Assists: Braking assist (off), anti lock brakes (on), traction control (full), dynamic racing line (corners only), dynamic racing line type (3d), gearbox (manual and suggested gear), pit assist (on), pit release assist (on), ers mode (automatic), flashbacks (on), parc fermé rules (off), vehicle damage (reduced), safety car (on), corner cutting (regular), race starts (manual), press interview time limit (off), tyre temperature (surface and carcass (simulation)).

It was very strange, like someone spilled oil or something on the screen tha became bigger and bigger in seconds until i saw nothing anymore.

Actually it was scary. I thought it was some kind of virus.

So what i did is, 30 min ago, i deleted F1 2019 and i re-installed it. Guess what; everything is back ok.

So if somebody else had (have) the same problem, delete the game and re-install it.

For the moment it works perfect again.

I immediately wanted to let you guys know, cause i thought it was worth to look into it. Looked like a virus or a big bug. Like a big black spot (big half screen) that conquered the whole screen in seconds.

Kind regards David Louwagie

Thank you for all of that information. What you experienced is very rare and should be resolved for you by either restarting the session or rebooting the game and it should not appear. This has however been passed onto the team to investigate further. Thanks!

  • RedDevilKT changed the title to Black cloud bug in F1 2019 [R2]

Today Sunday, just an hour and a half ago, i did some practice on the next career race (hungary) while i was waiting for the weekend mp race to start (in britain).

Again, most of the time i had no downshifts!!!

I went to my mp race and there i had no problem.

Afther the mp race, back to career, started the race and almost no downshifts at all.

I had to quit cause this is unplayable.

I don't know what to do anymore. I deleted the game, thought it was over and now its back.

Everything works perfect in mp and time trial.

Except for career.

I ask you please help me what to do. I can not all the time delete the game and re-instal every 2 days...

@developers @codemasters

Thank you

i got more info:

On home: 2018 fia formula 2 championship: also almost no downshifts.

on solo: championships: championships: almost no downshifts .

Legends: Senna vs Prost: almost no downshifts.

This has become a serious problem.

More info if you guys need it:

I did a Hard reset on my console (deleted everything and started from beginning) but that didn't seem to change anything.

My steering wheel: a fanatec DD1 with the Mclaren gt3 rim. (don't think the problem is with the wheel, since in time trial and MP the downshifts work).

I had F1 2019 installed on an external HHD, seagate 8TB. Now i deleted again F1 2019 and re-installed it on the internal HD of my xbox one x, where there is nothing else on.

I will see in about 2 - 3 days if the bug comes back or not.

I hope to hear you @developers @codemasters soon about a solution regarding this problem.

David Louwagie.

@RedDevilKT Now i started f1 2019 and went to time trial (very difficult to go to time trial) and my downshifts also don't work in time trial.

even in the menu i almost can not go from right to left. (downshifts)

I don't know whats going on, neither do you guys, since i get no response...

My game f1 2019 is ******, almost no downshifts work in either mode.

I am really dissapointed

@RedDevilKT So in game i changed my Mclaren gt3 wheel from fanatec, and attached the fanatec drift rim instead.

With the drift rim, everything worked fine.

So the problem is with the Mclaren steering wheel from Fanatec and not with you @developers F1 2019.

I want to apologize to you @RedDevilKT and developers from f1 2019 for the whole 'bug thing' and my manners.

Kind Regards David Louwagie
