Anyone else losing a full second to the AI in France's 3rd sector?

Recommended Posts

And the reason's clear: first two sectors, I'm up a tenth or two from my career teammate, but in the 3rd sector the front tires go up to 110c, no matter what setup I try, so the car heavily understeers every corner. It's been this way since the game was released and makes it impossible to race against the AI on that track.

It helps a bit if you turn carcass temperatures off, but you still lose time from overhigh surface temps. Turning down the difficulty doesn't help either, because if I do that, I completely annihilate the AI in the first two sectors, which isn't realistic at all.

I have the same issue. I'm playing the game with 105ai level. First two sectors me and my teammate have almost equal time. 3rd sector i lose 0.400-0.600. I'm not sure is it front tyre temp or not, but i can't get good cornering on turn 12.

You would need to post a video to show what you are doing and details of your set up.

I haven't come across this issue but thats mainly because i run a little more wing designed for S3.

Have you tried saving a replay and watching you going through S3 and comparing your lines with the AI's and gears etc?

That would be pointless, AI doesn't have tire temperature simulation. It's especially noticeable if you have intermediate tires and the last two laps or so of a race are on a increasingly drying track (so there's no point to change to slicks that late), your inters will absolutely boil on the dry track while AI always stays in optimal temps.

I have tried very high wing setups as well, to the point that I lose 4-5 tenths on Mistral straight, but even only helps for 2 tenths or so in the final sector (because the problem is mechanical grip, not aero), so the final laptime is slower.

I can't really suggest anything then.

It could well be that your just not driving S3 very well but if your not going to post a video i have nothing to suggest as i dont have this issue at all.

Are you skipping session to the end? I remember something similar in Australia sector 3 but only simulating times.

Cheers
