"Voice Control Disabled"

In bottom left hand corner of the screen I see this message a lot when opening the game. Every time it says that I can't talk to the race engineer via Microphone. I have to restart the game 4-6 times before the game decides it wants to work and use my microphone. There should be a setting in the game to where we can manually turn it on and specify the mircophone device. Because the auto detection thing or whatever it is leads to a poor experience. Can you put that into the game?

Try setting your PC to use your choice of device as default (i.e. set the default) or disable other audio channels. 

Be aware that updating graphics drivers correctly (clean or DDU / install) will reinstate those disabled devices.

Not normally a fan of workarounds, but under the circumstances without any real faith in the patch process / schedule what do you do?

I tried that. It didn't work. The computer has no problem using it. No other application or program has problem a problem using it. It's just F1 2019 being dumb about it.
