DIRT Rally - CUSTOM LIVERIES, MODS & TOOLS, DISCUSSION ETC.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, after so long I decided to open a facebook page to share my creations.
On racedepartment you can find my best jobs but some make it smile(like the MR bean mini livery) and i do not think it appropriate to publish them on RD. For now I have only put the two most successful but in the coming days / months I have many ideas that I would like to develop

Hey rallyfans, Juha Kankkunen made an one time return to the 60th Neste Oil Rally Finland in 2010 and finished 8th in his Ford Focus RS Rally Neste Oil. Juha Kankkunen is still on the second place of all time winner of the wrc championships (4 times) together with Tommi Makinen and Sebastien Ogier. At spot number 1 is off course Sebastien Loeb with a whopping 9 wins.

You can download the custom livery here:

Sad news today, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) died yesterday. The song 'In The End' is still the best song for a rally video in my opinion so i once more made one with it.

In the video is my newly made custom livery for DiRT Rally. Marcus Gonholm in the VW Polo Rally at the Rallylegend 2016.

Is it wishful thinking to hope that there is a way of modifying the existing stages we have in Dirt Rally so that the surface from one location can be copied to another? i.e. could the 'light gravel' surface or, if it has to be, the particular gravel from one of the gravel locations be imported into the data for the Baumholder stages, for example?

I've often thought that until someone figures out how to make new stages or we get (fingers crossed) a Dirt Rally 2 it would be a good way to freshen up what we already have - so maybe gravel in places like Baumholder, tarmac in places like Argolis, tarmac/snow in Powys etc etc.

I'm new to modding but managed to view the PSSG files for some stages, essentially it's rows of sections of tarmac, but I have no idea how it all links to other files to define the track limits and the road surface properties etc.

It is never been done in any of the previous DiRT games so i think it it not possible.

Hey rallyfans, converted this cool 6R4 from dirt4, added a few missing logos, rally en codriver names and the rally shields. Could not recreate the window parts because in DiRT Rally the left and right windows uses the same space so logos would turn up mirrored on one side.

You can download the custom DiRT Rally livery here:

I wanted to make this skin for DiRT Rally some time ago, but never really got to it. When I recently made it for Assetto Corsa, I figured converting it over would be easy and unlike Assetto Corsa, in DiRT Rally it's for the correct Escort :D
Someone had already done this skin, but for one thing, the blue on the hood was way too bright on that one. On the actual car the blue part of the flag is almost black.
Just like I did for Assetto Corsa's MK1 Escort, I added whitewalls, to make the rims look bigger. I think it worked out ok

Btw, making skins for Assetto Corsa is a lot easier :D

Hi! i'm trying to save a glass.dds file for a skin using GIMP and I found it impossible. I have installed a dds plugin but I'm unable to know how to save the file properly. Any help will be welcomed. Thank you!

When opening the pssg archive, you can see the settings for each thexture in the bottom left corner. For glass it should be DXT5_srgb which is the same as BC3. Also be sure to edit the alpha channel, when doing the glass texture.
In Photoshop with the Intel DDS pluging, you first have to choose what kind of image you have (Color, Color + Alpha, etc) and then choose the format. I don't know, how it works with GIMP, but there should be some kind of options for formats.

Any chance to port the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 model from DiRT 4 into DiRT Rally? Easily replaceable with the Subaru Impeza 2001 handling-wise.

I made a Custom livery for a school event.
https://imgur.com/a/318T2gQ
But the livery I replaced keeps showing in a light gray color, but only if the light reflection is just right.
https://imgur.com/t7i1ByL  (not really the best picture but has to do for now)
Anyone any idea what may have happened?
This is the first livery I have ever made......

Edit: Also having an issue with editing the windows, after exporting it and opening with photoshop it just looks like the following

Have you edited the specocc layer? It's hard to tell from the screenshot but that's likely the problem. The shade on that layer defines the reflection of your livery. Heres a good guide to help: https://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/5784/dirt-rally-custom-liveries-mods-tools-discussion-etc/p140#Comment_260741

Thank you for this explanation, it is indeed the specopp layer I forgot about so I will work on that later.
Also tried to edit the windows but gives a much stranger issue:

That looks like the file is corrupted somehow. If that's the file youve saved, you need to make sure each file is saved with the correct settings below. Otherwise try exporting again?

@Undercoverclown The original livery shows through, because you probably didn't make/replace the specocc texture. That determines the reflectivness of the livery (brighter is more reflective, darker is less, you can go from not reflective at all to chrome)

About windows, it might be that you're using older dds plugins. If you're using Nvidia dds plugin, I would suggest you switch to Intel dds plugin

EDIT: Woops, didn't see the 3 replies :D
