I have been messing with them, going to post some of my findings at some point when I'm sure what I am doing is correct.  I think I've already done what your asking for.
Waiting patiently then :) Would love a chase camera that starts showing the side only when the rear really steps out, as in the car goes into actual slide. Race Driver GRID had that nailed, not sure why they didn't go with those settings.

Probably because rally is more focused on going sideways so the camera would be swinging around more.
It's kind of a trait in most rally game chase cams all the way back to Sega Rally.

True. Problem is that if the camera is too slow to follow the car, you don't see what's behind the corner quickly enough. Naturally it should show the side when car is going sideways, so that you'll be seeing the road ahead and not the wall, but until the car is in a full slide, it should stick to the "ass" as if Super Glue was used xD

Something small I'm working on, fairly crude at the minute..

Trying to replicate this look of glowing hot cat converters..

The colouring is off and unfortunately it's a static glow but it does vary in intensity with the brightness of the scene so I think it has potential,

I watched someones 'lets play' a long time ago and i noticed their tailpipe was glowing bright red, is it not already in the game?

Oh really? I've never noted that myself but if it's in game already then even better! I did do a search and found someone else has already had a go at this to be fair.

If you can tweak it, go for it.  All these little things add up and many times make the game better.

Is there a way to make the cars dirtier (i.e. to get dirty more quickly/to receive greater amounts of dirt)? For my personal taste, the cars are generally too clean/shiny, even after several stages into a complete rally event with various muddy/dusty/wet etc. conditions.

It would also be great if there was a possibility to start an event with a car that is yet not exactly in pristine/showroom condition.

+10000!!!! I agree 100%. That's I thing I really wanted codmasters to improve on before the release. Just look at Wales (IRL) and compare that to the sim... After 1 SS in sunshine with muddy roads, the cars is so so dirty/muddy. In the sim in the same conditions, there is some little "splash" on the car, the rims is clean and so on...

The sides inc rims and the back of the car should be brown and full of dirt like they have done under rainy conditions in the long stages.

So I really hope that this can be modded or that codies improve this 100%. Really do.

The easiest and best in terms of looks is to add a dirt layer to the car template , I was working on this very thing in Assetto Corsa a while back ..

NO DIRT ...

MY DIRT LAYER ON TEMPLATE ...

GAME GENERATED DIRT + MY DIRT LAYER ON TEMPLATE ....

CAR TEMPLATE ...  WITH DIRT LAYER ..

This can easily be applied to DR .. just needs to be added to the template ..

Yes, applying it to the template is certainly a good idea, but it doesn't help with the general dirt buildup rate.

After my initial thoughts on dirt (^^) or better the lack thereof I did some more digging and guess what I ended up with - anyone wanna get DiRTy?  ;)

These pics were all taken in individual events with clean cars at the start. To better show off the effect, the dirt buildup rate has been greatly exaggerated on purpose (it's even possible to start with a dirty car from zero if you want), at least 1000 times more than default.

Everything it takes to adjust the dirt buildup rate is messing with the >mud_materials.xml< inside the respective locations' stages, but it is certainly more difficult to balance it properly.

That said, I will look into it a bit more thoroughly, and eventually make a tweak for [x] times more dirt when I've gone through all the files.

PS: Also working on a mod that removes the yellowish tint from the German rally stages, first results can be seen in the first two pics above. Still WIP though.

That's some interesting info with the dirt build up, and i like that missing yellow tint.

What i will say is, if you really up your ante and plough through, say, Wales very fast, you do get significant dirt on the car in just one stage, i just think it's set fairly high before the dirt really builds up.

Not if the build up is dirty off white snow, I think it will look amazing! Great work with dirt build up look forward to seeing more!

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to create a new livery for the 2001 Subaru Impreza, but there's one problem i keep having which is becoming a bit of an inconvenience. At certain points while producing the livery, i need to check it on the car in game to see whether everything is looking correct. However, this is a little tedious because i have to save the livery in Photoshop, repackage the PSSG file and then wait for the game to load into a stage just to see how the car appears.

Is there any sort of viewer which can be used to inspect my livery on the car model, without having to go through the lengthy procedure of repackaging the files and booting the game up?

Sorry mate my Spanish is somewhat rusty, can you please post again in English?

Yes, the dirt bild up on stages in Wales and generally in locations that feature a non-tarmac surface is already high(er) by default, I'll be taking that into account when making the tweaks. Moreover, I may not go far beyond twice as much dirt as default as there seems to be no threshold to dirt particle layers which in turn may look weird on longer events with e.g. 5+ stages.

First results for the tinted German stages look promising, below a simple before/after comparison:

It is difficult to correct the color balance solely by altering the palette and without touching the location's lighting parameters, but let me know what you think of it and I'll try to tweak it some more.

GETHEMA please can you put a picture of how to modify the file to the dirt car body

I'm sorry for my English

I was also saying that if you drive a lot faster, you get dirtier more quickly.

Re the colour balance.... hmm, have you switched the weather around?  i'm thinking that's 'sunlight' for the yellowing.
