looked almost entirely on google but nothing found...otherwise you might upload your dirt files?

The colouring is off and unfortunately it's a static glow but it does vary in intensity with the brightness of the scene so I think it has potential,
Following on from this, been working on the '07 Focus. Think I've refined the texture enough now I'm fairly happy with the colouring.

During a 'backfire'..



Straight after..I think the static red glow really helps in these instances.



The Fiesta needs more work but I'm pretty happy with the Focus at the minute.

Please make the exhaust textures real, right now many of them are chrome, which doesn't fit.  Just a thought, thank

Whhhy thank you, might just have a look at those exhaust textures next seen as you asked so nicely, although I far from claim to be handy at creating them I'll have a go. Which car in particular bugs you and I'll start there.

I've got a question on number plates - i'm assuming nothing much can be done, but I'm working on an R4 Subaru, and the old plate number seems to be modelled - which is obviously conflicting with the new plate number on my texture. any tips / ideas??

they are never 3d modeles the effect thatyou see that makes them look 3d is probably a normal map witch makes them look like they are 3d modeled, just go to the sti_main_nm.tga on the pssg you are editing and paint over the section shown in the screenshot below with the same color as the background of the texture to remove the "3d" effect or if you know how to make normal maps just make it with your new plates

Many of the Lancia's exhausts look like car show models or harley davidson motorcycle exhausts.

I could be wrong, but in my time diddling around with the textures I never saw any. Saw extra driver/codriver faces though. Maybe you could make your codriver look like Darth Maul

Absolutely you can. 
Gloves, Helmets and overalls are found in DiRT Rally\characters\models
driver_textures.pssg
and
codriver_textures.pssg

That's right, the models folder. Not the textures one.
DiRT Rally\characters\textures
only contains faces.

There are some re-designs over at RD:

HELMET SÉBASTIEN OGIER
DESIGNS 1 MARTINI RACE SUIT AND HELMET, CASCO + TUTA MARTINI RACING
DESIGNS 2 MARTINI RACE SUIT AND HELMET, CASCO + TUTA

As for dirt particles, I'm currently investigating a possible way to increase them, however it needs more work as it's very easy to completely mess up the way particle emitters work if I change the wrong stuff. Some preliminary results of a longer dust trail (hard to find a good spot to show off properly):



Moreover, following up on my color palette mod for Germany, I'll be making tweaks for various settings that I think are slightly out of balance, starting with the morning setting in Germany. More to follow soon.

I agree. This will lift this sim to a higher level! We are lucky to have these guys that are able and willing to mod all these things!

Regarding helmet,gloves and rally suits. Would be so nice if anyone that have the skills, can make some Sparco,OMP gloves and suits and some liverys on the helmets. Maby a original carbon Stilo look? Would be very glad if this happens!

@Gethema Nice! I know what you mean by messing it up. I made an insane particles mod a while back for DiRT3 and ended up breaking the particle systems many times, and also having dust trails send the car flying and/or destroy it...

If they're coded the same way as DiRT3' were (should be, same engine) then if you can find a particle_systems folder those xmls have some more advanced stuff like speed, spin, size, life, wind and gravity curves etc.
            If you enable collision detection and/or full physics on a particle, then it allows them to interact with the environment and, just say, break the yellow tape in the above image, but be careful as enabling it on some particles messes up the surface and makes it almost undrivable.

i will take a look at doing some helmets/gloves/suits,, but i want to make something that is more generic, i dont want to make something that it would look like is sebastion loeb driving a car that has monster energy logos all over it, i want to make something that looks like is someone that bought a helmets/gloves/suits that are sold on some store then took McRae's focus at took it on a rally stage, so if anyone has pics of some generic helmets/gloves/suits please post them here so i can use as reference

OMP stuff is good for that, as is sparco, the current alpine stars stuff is ironically more like the Ken block style you're referring to.
