DIRT Rally - CUSTOM LIVERIES, MODS & TOOLS, DISCUSSION ETC.

Just a quick note on modding cars into other events, that still seems to be a no go.

It was an excellent point raised that there might have been some level of incompatibility trying to put a v2 cars physics in place of a v1 or v1.5 car, but it turns out that's not so simple.
So whilst it was possible much earlier in Early Access to put a normal Rally car on Pikes Peak and keep that Rally cars physics and such intact, that no longer seems to be the case with the most common problem being an infinite loading loop.

Straight model swaps are still possible, but if you do things like this, the games online features will essentially be locked out until you reboot the game.
(It might also be possible to swap car physics within a specific class, I haven't tested, but off hand it seems doubtful).
That's gutting news. I also note today from the Italian preview that SLRE will allow the rally cars in the game to run up Pike's Peak, so a little more galling.

Last shot, is it possible to switch tracks over? I've seen the vids of multiple cars on one track on YouTube, and I assume that's done by replacing the track model instead of anything to do with cars.

Really hope there's some official word on this at some point as it feels like a waste, having this superbly modeled track but only allowed a few, very similar cars to tackle it with. Personal choice, I hope they can work the PP model and its sectors into custom events for Rally mode.

Wouldn't be surprised if Milestone took a cue from the D:R feedback in that regard, letting other cars race to the clouds. It's one of the oldest requests for DiRT Rally, and one of the few that was very openly acknowledged by the devs back in May.

Along with how they pointed out an all-gravel version of Pikes Peak nearly half a year ago, these are the kind of little things Milestone need to do in order to help stand out from D:R, saying they provide a more complete experience.

Anyway, yes, you can still swap tracks and that does at least work, but there are some major drawbacks to that method. Apparently, you won't be able to complete an event or record a time. You'll reach the finish and nothing will happen.
Though that *might* just be limited to replacing rally cross tracks in order to get the AI trains.

@YorAlcoholicDad

FYI Paddon was promoted to the Helix team (#8 car) in the Rally of Sweden, replacing Sordo.

Also, Neuville was dropped to Mobis #20 in the Rally of Great Britain, resulting in Sordo promoted to Car #7, and Paddon to Helix team #8.

Would be amazing if you could correct these!!! (legend)

i will look in to changing this more in to the future, thanks for the tips, but it is like this mostly so that all of them have the 4 drivers in their main numbers

Oh, then could you post what the folders contain then, i think it's number 10 that's missing.
Just look at the preview png instead of the read-me file. It shows every car, who the driver/co-driver is, etc.

As a side note, @YorAlcoholicDad what's the font on the preview images? Can't quite place it

That was my gut reaction of what it reminded me of, but of course the actual WRC logo is a tweaked Euphoric and a number of letters are very different.
Now I know it's specifically WRC Clean Roman, which was used on the website for various things.
Much nicer and more legible than the logo.

no worries - i understand why you've done it this way - an update in the future to make them accurate across the Sweden and Wales events would be amazing.
I'm happy to help you do this if you'd like (i can understand you'd want a well deserved break from photoshop!!)
